A hell of a debut novel. Dragonhart is the kind of fantasy that had everything I need; enemies-to-lovers, a strong FMC seeking revenge, magic and DRAGONS.

“The dragons are gone, and the kingdoms are falling. Not even the gods can save them now...”

Yes, most fantasy novels have strong FMC’s, but how many of them are Assassins to the King? Arla Reinhart has fought to be the best at what she does, and now whilst serving her kingdom, feared by all, she is seeking revenge for the war that caused the death of her parents.

“She had killed and clawed and fought her way to where she was now.”

Set in a place where the old religion believed in magic, gods and dragons, Arla simply believes in right and wrong. The wrong being, the neighbouring kingdom who descended on her home years ago on a killing spree in search for the mythical dragons.

Hark Stappen, ambassador for the neighbouring kingdom, has been Arla’s enemy for years. For no other reason than the place he comes from. Happily avoiding each other through the palace for years has become the norm. That is until, the King needs them to work together.

This enemies-to-lovers tale is filled with twists and turns as the two travel on their mission, unearthing heart-breaking truths along the way.

Arla may be feared by all, but not by Stappen.

“She was wrath, and fury, and vengeance. She was blood, and fire, and truth, and she would never again be useless.”

Fans of Fourth Wing and When the Moon Hatched, this fantasy debut is the perfect addition to your TBR. Filled with mystery and tension, Reinhart and Stappen’s mission becomes the only way to save their kingdoms.

“Everybody has a little bit of magic inside them, Miss Reinhart, if only you knew where to look.”

Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins, One More Chapter for the early release of this arc in exchange for an honest review.

oh. my. god. what. a. debut. dragonhart has everything—political intrigue, magic, adventure, and DRAGONS. i absolutely ravaged this book from start to finish. from the very first page, this book grabs you and doesn’t let go. we’re thrown into a world of danger, loyalty, and high-stakes romance that will have you completely hooked. (and trust me—I was.)

arla reinhart is a king’s assassin on a mission for vengeance—fierce, deadly, and absolutely unstoppable. (i couldn’t figure out if i wanted to date her or BE her.) but when she’s forced to team up with hark stappen, the sharp-witted ambassador from a rival kingdom, everything she thought she knew starts to unravel. the tension? electric. the enemies-to-lovers slow burn? perfection. the twists? jaw-dropping.

if you love stabby heroines, forced proximity, and dragons (so many dragons), dragonhart is the book you’ve been waiting for. i need the next one *yesterday*.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if it has dragons I will read it, but this really has everything I look for in a fantasy. Stunning world-building, strong characters and an enemies to lovers romance that is going to change the world as they know it.

Arla Reinhart is a King’s Assassin, and she’s looking for vengeance.

Fiercely loyal, strong and determined, Arla is thrust into joining forces with Hark Stappen, the ambassador for the neighbouring kingdom, on a journey that will ultimately lead her into questioning everything she’s ever known and fought for - and hell hath no fury like Arla Reinhart scorned.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a stunning debut novel! I could not put this down. A fantastic romantasy, well written and the whole world it was crafted in is just so well done. The enemies to lovers is so well structured, I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the when not if, and it was worth the wait.

Arla, the FMC is a strong powerhouse of a character. The King's Assassin. Strong and stubborn, she is delightfully deadly.

Then there's the dragons! The dragons were just perfect, adding a beautiful layer to this fantasy. A wonderful read.

This was STUNNING! The enemies to lovers, magic system, and the dragons??? perfection. I love the political turmoil we get throughout this book and just the plot was so intriguing and kept my attention the entire time! Arla was such an interesting character that I really liked due to her being so complex and just the depth of her character was amazing. Listen if a book has dragons then I will read it every single time.

It was also so shocking to hear that this is a debut! such a fantastic job and I can't wait to see what Abbie comes up with next. I also can't wait for everyone to read this so I can yap their ears off about how much I loved it!

Arla is the type of person i strive to be. She is just so incredibly complex and also very stabby! The plot was honestly so much fun, and I really enjoyed all the characters and side characters we had throughout this gorgeous book. I mean, who doesn't like a stabby FMC who is also the king's assassin?? This book grabs your attention from the very first page and doesn't let you go until you finish it. I can't wait to see what else Abbie publishes!

Thank you to NetGalley and One More Chapter for this ARC!

Oh my word, I can’t begin to describe how this books has completely blown past every expectation I had!!! This fantasy novel is beautiful, and the enemies to lovers plot line is so masterfully handled. Arla and Hark are amazing! I was highlighting and making so many notes throughout!! There were twists and turns that I had never expected to take place and they made the story that much better! I am so looking forward to reading any and all future stories that Abbie Eaton releases!! This debut novel had me captivated from the beginning and I am so excited to be able to hop on the Abbie Eaton train early, because I have full faith that she is just getting started!!!!

Thank you to One More Chapter, Harper Collins, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to experience the magic early with and ARC of this beautiful story!

Thank you to the author and publishers for allowing me an ARC via NetGalley!

This book is incredible. Initially I was hesitant, worried that the book would be complex and hard to understand with all the lore etc. but boy was it a ride. We have some of the best tropes: strong FMC who doesn’t *need* saving, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and DRAGONS. The influences from various other fantasy books are obvious - ACOTAR, Fourth Wing, TOG for some examples. Despite this, the book was unique in its own sense. TOG is my favourite fantasy series right now so I absolutely loved this book and every part of it. I loved the world building, the characters, the redemption arcs. I only wish I’d read this book sooner because I know I’m now going to try and be as stubborn and strong as Arla is! Overall, a fantastic read with lots of popular tropes, dedications to other fantasy series, and a book that I’m sad to finish. Books like this makes me so happy I found NetGalley!

Rating: 5/5 stars (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

This was an amazing story. I love the characters so much. Arla is amazing, she reminds me of the Sarah J Maas character Celaena Sardothien. Arla is a strong female while also being a king's assassin. Hark is also a very entertaining character. I really enjoyed the relationship between the two characters. I can't wait to see if there will be another book. I loved the world and characters so much.

Dragonhart was exactly what I needed to recover from my Onyx Storm hangover. This fantasy romance is an absolute gem, delivering an engaging mix of adventure, emotion, and undeniable chemistry between its characters. The writing is not only polished but also immersive, drawing me into a vivid world with great character development and intriguing backstories.

One of my favourite aspects of the book is the bickering and banter between the enemies—it’s sharp, witty, and feels so natural. The dynamic between them is electric, and watching their relationship evolve was incredibly satisfying. The forced proximity trope is masterfully executed here, adding layers of tension and depth to the classic enemies-to-lovers arc. It’s a trope I always enjoy.

The adventure element is equally strong—exciting and unpredictable enough to keep me on the edge of my seat. Yet, the heart of the story lies in the characters themselves. It’s so easy to connect with them; their struggles, growth, and moments of vulnerability are written in such a way that they feel entirely human and relatable.

I’d highly recommend Dragonhart to fans of Fire in the Sky or Fear the Flames. If you enjoy stories filled with adventure, complex relationships, and a touch of magic, this book is an absolute must-read. It left me eager for more.

There are no words to describe how much I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is absolutely phenomenal and is definitely my favourite read of the year so far. As soon as I read the word 'assassin', I was hooked and I could not put the book down so much that it kept me reading well into the night. Arla is everything and I adored her character and how she grew (I also loved the dragon). The humour throughout the book made me laugh out loud multiple times and the relationship between Hark and Arla - even when they had knives at each others throats made me smile so much taht my cheeks hurt! I would definitely recommend this book to romantasy lovers and anyone who loves enemies to lovers or fantasy because this book is too phenomenal to not read.

Thank you to Net Galley, One More Chapter publishing and most definitely thank you to Abbie Eaton for writing this phenomenal book - words cannot explain how absolutely remarkable it is.
