Jane Carter is a new author on my to read list. This is the second book of hers that I have read and I really like her writing style. Her books take place in Australia, and while I have never been, she makes it seem like home. I could see myself falling in love with the people and the towns, just from her descriptions.
A Dream of Something More takes place in Australia, and this one starts off in a small town of Farrow. Robbie is a happily married mom of one child, until she finds out that her husband has cheated on her. She is devastated and she files for divorce. She decides that she needs to finish up her degree in Sydney, but, she needs to leave town and leave her daughter with her husband and her mom.
Robbie does not tell anyone the full reason why she is leaving, she tells them that she is leaving to get her education. She does not wish to cause anyone grief about her husbands affair. Robbie packs up and goes to live in Sydney and for two years, her life is wonderful. Her neighbor upstairs is a wonderful cook and always makes sure Robbie has food to eat. Her neighbor takes baths instead of showers because of the leak in the wall between the two units.
Her neighbor leaves the flat upstairs and a new guy rents it out. This new guy is very handsome and is built like an athlete. He is also off limits, she does not need a relationship while she is finishing school.
At 5am in the morning Nick gets up to take a shower and unknown to him, he sends plaster raining into the downstairs bathroom. Robbie goes upstairs and knocks on the door. When he finally answers, Nick is clad only in a bath towel, after dressing and then going out to breakfast, Nick goes into Robbie's downstairs apartment where he promptly starts clearing the ceiling tiles and helping Robbie.
Soon enough after meeting, the two begin an affair which according to Robbie, has no strings attached, but according to Nick, he might want more.
You will have to read the book to see where this relationship goes. I liked this book enough to give it a 4 out of 5 stars, and I look forward to reading many more books by this author.
I received a free copy of this book in return for my honest opinion.

This author really makes it feel like you're actually there, in the story, feeling the conflicting emotions and living with their quandaries and dilemmas - even though I've never even been to Australia! Really enjoyed this story - what a delightful change for the author not to need to include detailed descriptions of sexual encounters and instead to show the development of love and romance! Lovely story, totally believable and a delightful dream read.
