Poeta: Sonetas and Sonnets by Pelumi Olatinpo is a revolutionary masterpiece that will forever change how you experience poetry. This extraordinary collection introduces the soneta-a groundbreaking six-line form that packs the punch of an entire poem into a single, powerful moment.
Across 303 meticulously crafted poems, Olatinpo takes you on an unforgettable journey through love, war, identity, and the very essence of what it means to be human. From the heart-wrenching reality of conflict in Gaza to the tender whispers of newfound love, each poem is a world unto itself, yet part of a greater, breathtaking whole.
Divided into six spellbinding movements-Monsoon, Wildfire, Drought, Eclipse, Blossom, and Prisma-Poeta reads like a literary symphony, with each section building upon the last to create an experience that is both intellectually stimulating and emotionally transformative.
What truly sets Poeta apart is its unparalleled consistency. In a literary landscape where even the greatest poets have their highs and lows, Olatinpo delivers poem after poem of sheer brilliance. This is not just a collection; it's a sustained flight of genius that will leave you in awe of what poetry can achieve.
Olatinpo's linguistic mastery shines through in every line, crafting images so vivid you'll feel you can touch them. His unique voice bridges cultures and continents, offering perspectives that are at once deeply personal and universally resonant.

Evocative and lyrical and will gain a space on my shelf for sure
Devastating and beautiful. Love and loss are completely tangled up in this one. Deep, heartbreaking, and powerful.
My favorite poem was Soneta 17. The last two lines really spoke to me.
“At the wharf of your heart, battered, tossed, reeking of
Loss, yet, your love, covers me, asks me — to exhale.”
Incredible lines.
