A refreshing read. Don't say I can't when ?God says you can.
As always Joel writes books that encourage , give us hope and helps us strive for excellence. With this book as his others the theme is always positive and uplifting. He is a great motivator and champion for God. In the book he gives you eight steps to help you become more focused and grow as you achieve what you are called for. Keep your vision in front of you Run your race Expect good things Have a positive mind set Commit to excellence Keep growing Serve others Stay passionate These steps are great and help you by following a guide to reach your goal. Each one is attainable by prayer and determination. I love his positive attitude which is infectious. Don't we all want to be better people? Isn't it easier to stay positive when you have others to stand beside you? Thank you Joel for another excellent book in practical everyday language that helps us to be His hands and Feet.
Anything by Joel Osteen is worth reading. He is inspiring and motivating! His words seep into your soul and make you reach for the stars. I love watching him preach and I love reading his work. I'm a huge fan and will continue to read any and all of his books!
Recently, a monkey wrench of sorts was thrown into my path for the 2nd leg of my college journey. For a period of 2 weeks, I experienced a tremendous amount of inner turmoil and doubt concerning my future. Thankfully, I was able to utilize the insightful and not to mention, common sense wisdom that Joel Osteen manages to dispense to his readers. In my opinion, Joel Osteen manages to make the reader feel at home by dispensing advice in a way that just about anyone can comprehend, advice that’s nonjudgmental with a comical edge .
Although there may be a few who may take offense at his faith-based viewpoint, for the most part, just about anyone can take the principles that he lays out, and apply them to their lives with much success.
As Dr. Wayne Dyer has expressed in his recent autobiography, books can essentially be gifts that, if received, can help propel us into our destiny. “You Can, You Will” is a purpose-filled book that will not only help you to examine your own life/habits and enable you to perform a self-correction, but it can help propel you into your next level of destiny.
Giving this one: 4.5 Stars.
This book was a blessing. I usually see Joel Osteen on Tv, and while I was reading it sounded exactly like him (with texan accent and all).
If you need some encouragement, spiritual guidance or positive thoughts on your life this is perfect.
At the moment I needed to hear some of the things Mr Osteen said, it was a blessed word, and I hope this book will be a blessing in your life as it was in my life.
I thank Netgalley and FaithWords for giving me this book as an advanced copy. Jesus blesses you all.
Another great read by Joel Osteen!
Like his other books, You Can You Will is less about theology and more about inspiring readers. Joel has such knack for doing this. You Can You Will outlines eight qualities or steps to unleashing the winner in you. Along with scripture, Joel peppers each chapter with fun, motivating stories from his congregation, history or old wives tales.
Definitely recommend this enlightening read.
I have never read a book by Joel Osteen, but am well aware of their popularity. I can see why-- he makes it seem so simple! At this time in my life, this book seemed appropriate and it truly made me think about many things in my life and how I can make them better. Based on this book, I may go back and read others by him.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved how honest and straight forward Joel Osteen can be. I felt so inspired by reading his advice, which really made sense. I think everyone needs to read this to see how they can become a much better person within themselves and for God. A Great and Quick Read 5 stars.
I have been at a bit of a low point in my life, and I am very happy that I got a copy of this book by Joel Osteen. In this book the author shares the 8 qualities of a winner:
♦ Keep Your Vision in Front of You
♦ Run Your Race
♦ Expect Good Things
♦ Have a Positive Mind Set
♦ Commit to Excellence
♦ Keep Growing
♦ Serve Others
♦ Stay Passionate
Filled with real stories, this book offers encouragement to run the race that is set before us and become all that we are meant to be.
I would highly recommend this book,! I'm not exactly sure what made me like exactly. A lot of the book features replays of some of Osteen's TV sermons (with some new material). Normally that would turn me away in a book. All of that "positive psychology" along with material that I already heard before would have made me close the book. Strangely, it didn't. Joel' s infectious optimism coupled with practical advice drawn from the Bible and stories, kept me reading. Joel's book is designed to get you in a positive mood.to do at least one thing that can improve your life.
Compared to the first book, it was a little more nuanced. It was more confident, more action-oriented, and more focused. As other reviewers have pointed out, it's also more lecture than story. The difference is in the confidence with which Joel tells the story. It's also less about "Do Step 1, Step 2, " and more about "these are the qualities you should seek with a story and a Bible verse why you should seek it".
Joel Osteen is always very encouraging and uplifting. This book has his theme message of thinking positive to change your life. He emphasizes that we must make a constant effort to be better, think better and rise above our circumstance. This is wonderful uplifting read for anyone who wishes to improve their life by sheer will and prayers.
