My family loves Parker, the guy I just dumped. They love everyone I bring home, determined to marry me off before “my time runs out.” If I go to our week-long Christmas extravaganza without him on my arm, they’re going to give me heck.

That’s where Superstorm Dillon comes in. I tell my family I’m going on a last-minute writing retreat in Georgia. The writing retreat part is true. Driving down to Florida in time for the party?
