Description
When dude ranch wrangler Charlotte – aka Charlie – Randall kisses Zack Harris in an act of empathy, she falls hat over spurs for the handsome military veteran turned cowboy. Zack has too many demons, however, and refuses to get involved. A year later, he's still stonewalling, and Charlie needs to move on with her life so she can find a fulfilling relationship, not frustrating unrequited love. Putting distance between them seems the best way to get Zack out of her head and heart...but that means quitting the job she loves and accepting a position in Colorado.
He didn’t mean to kiss her back…
Growing up, Zack longed for a real family, and had one with his squad while deployed in Afghanistan. Now, he's back in the States and doesn't want anything messing up his new ranch family, no matter how much he's attracted to the sexy, hard-working Charlie. She could break his heart and ruin the comfortable working relationship they and the other wranglers enjoy. Besides, her friends claim she's looking for the perfect guy, and perfect he's not.
A kiss is just a kiss…or is it?
When Zack learns Charlie's thinking about leaving the ranch, he decides to find her a boyfriend — someone so good, so perfect, she has a reason to stay in Montana. Until he realizes too late that the only cowboy he wants her kissing is him. Can he commit to love and convince Charlie not to leave? Or has she made up her mind to put the past, and the kiss that started it all, behind her and move on without him?

Kiss Me Cowboy by Melissa McClone is book three in the Montana Born Rodeo series. For some reason I am in love with books about Montana Cowboys and this book came through on every level. The scenery, the cowboys (sigh), the horses, the cowboys. Oops, did I say cowboys already?!
Charlotte aka Charlie Randall is 26 years old and has lived at the Bar V5 since she graduated from high school. She didn’t have the most stable of upbringings and loves the life she has built here for herself. She has worked hard to gain the respect of the other wranglers and they see her as Charlie, one of the guys. That was ok for awhile but she is feeling the need for something more. She is ready to fall in love, have a family. Well, actually, she already did fall in love, the feeling just isn’t reciprocated. One year ago when Zack needed someone to talk to, sitting under the tree by the stream, they shared a kiss which led to many more kisses that night. But Zack has a strict no dating people he works with policy, so that was the end of it, for Zack anyway.
“She’d tried moving past her attraction but so far no luck. She’d fallen cowboy hat over spurs, fallen hard like a hoof to the chest. No Cupid’s arrow needed. L-O-V-E.”
Zack Harris is an army veteran. His army buddies were his family. His own parents weren’t what one would call good parents. But during an attack, a mistake was made and lives were lost. Zack has been at the Bar V5 for two and a half years now. The people here are now his family. He can’t let anything change that, not even his attraction to Charlie. It would ruin everything. So when Charlie starts talking about leaving the ranch and moving to Colorado to work, he decides that he needs to find her a boyfriend here so she won’t leave. But he can’t stand the thought of any other guy touching her.
“You’ve worked with Charlie for two and a half years.” He’d known Charlie for that long, but he’d only just met Charlotte.”
This was a super sweet story about overcoming your past and allowing yourself the chance at your own happily ever after. The story is told from both Zack and Charlie’s points of view so we get inside both of their heads. Zack doesn’t feel he has anything to offer and Charlie is afraid no one else will ever measure up to what she feels for Zack.
We also get to see a little bit more of Caitlin and Noah and Caitlin’s little kitten, Mistletoe from Melissa’s book, Mistletoe Magic. I absolutely fell in love with that little Christmas novella and was so thrilled to get the chance to revisit these characters.
This was a quick and enjoyable feel good story which is exactly what I wanted. Thank you so much to Melissa McClone, NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.

Well, I must say, this was a fun short read. I do love me some cowboy stories, and somehow, I knew from the blurb that this would not disappoint! This was a really seet story about two people who had to overcome 'themselves' (read and you will understand) in order to achieve a HEA. They both have pasts and issues (hurdles you might say) they needed to work thru and in the end, they did! There's a dual POV in this story which is a huge plus for me because then you don't have to guess what might be going on with the other person. It makes for a better read in my opinion.
If you're looking for a nice, feel-good kinda romantic story, Melissa McClone delivers with Kiss Me, Cowboy!
The cowboy doth protest too much...a year after what should have been a comforting kiss that tipped Charlie over the precipice of loving Zack...Zack still hasn't come up to snuff...because he thinks he's not good enough. She's ready to move on...with or without him...he tries to make her stay (and no not with him) by offering to set her up. WHAT? REALLY? You're that stu...? Yes, he was...but while really slow on the uptake...Zack does come up to snuff...eventually...though I think it was a great way to help Charlie take charge of her life instead of waiting in the wings. Cute. Fun.
Charlie is a girl who didn't have a great life growing up and has made a home for herself at the ranch and become one of the guys, but now she's ready to live her life start a family and fall in love but she has been in. Love with a man for over a year. She can't seem to get him to fall for her so she's thinking moving on is the best thing to do.
Zack is a veteran with bad memories of things that happened. He's worked at the ranch for over two years and feels like everyone there is family but when he hears chrile is going to move on he thinks he should find her a boyfriend but the thought of any man with her but him does not settle right with him.
Can they work past everything and find true love or will they let it slip through their finger?

She's loved him for the last year but he has two hard fast rules. No dating co-workers and definitely no serious relationships. Charlie has decided to leave but Zach can't let her go. A wonderful story with good writing and all the great Marietta characters we love. Recommended read.
“Kiss Me Cowboy” is Book 3 of the highly popular Montana Born Rodeo series. And like the other Tule Publishing series, the Montana Born Rodeo set is written by different authors yet references hold true.
Melissa McClone wrote “Kiss Me Cowboy” which follows Charlotte Randall and Zack Harris who works in a ranch near Marietta, Montana, the locale that works as the glue that holds together all of the Montana Born books.
Poignant and sweet, “Kiss Me Cowboy” is about unrequited love. Charlotte “Charlie” Randall has been pining about her co-worker Zack Harris who has a “no co-worker” rule when it comes to dating. With her impending move to Colorado, Charlie only has a few days to make Zack to change his mind. If she cannot, then Charlie has to say goodbye to Zack and Montana forever.
The book is Rated T for Teens. There are no sex scenes in this book.
I am really enjoying this Montana Born series. I though Charlie was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed this story. I did not like that Zach didn't get her a shot until he couldn't resist anymore. I really enjoyed this story, the writing captured you very fast and I really enjoyed the characters the author created.
Kiss Me, Cowboy by Melissa McClone is an excellent read if you like true cowboys and tales of unrequited love (Charlie’s description, not mine), then this is the book for you. This third book of the Montana Rodeo Series is just as good as the previous two. The novel is short less than 200 pages on my reader but the author does not skip on character development but writes memorable characters.
Love both Charlie and Zach, even though I will admit I wanted her to hit him upside the head a time or two. Melissa McClone does a wonderful job showing us their insecurities that both are afraid to voice. The story does not rush but starts with a pivotal point as Charlie tries to make a life decision about moving. This is a realistic, authentic story.
The authors in this series either live on rancher or do their homework because I can visualize the town of Marietta and the out laying areas perfectly in my mind. In fact, through these stories I feel not only that I have been to the rodeo but have made friends there. A very enjoyable series.
‘Kiss Me, Cowboy’ by Melissa McClone is set on a Montana dude ranch between a sweet Cowgirl and a disillusioned Cowboy in the area of love. The couple have a history of one night where Zach Harris let his wall crumble in front of Charlie Randell. Zach is an ex military lost boy who learnt the hard way what love can do to someone and Charlie just wants to be accepted for the girl she really is. Charlie has a decision to make, staying at the job loves but with a man she cant forget or a new town and new place away from the family and home she has made. Although the decision for Charlie should be simple Zach cant bear to loose a valuable member of his adopted family and sets out to help Charlie find a man who will keep her at the ranch. I found this a very sweet read and the slow realisation of Zach’ real feelings a good story to get lost in. This book is from a series involving the Bar V5 dude ranch and I will look to read these other stories from this author.
This was a sweet romance about Charlotte "Charlie", a cowgirl on a Montana Ranch and her co-worker Zack. Charlie's had feeling for Zach since a kiss one night a year before but Zach has a definite rule on getting involved with co-workers. Only when he's around Charlie, it's harder and harder to remember why these rules matter anymore. I found this to be a fast read, with lovely and engaging characters and a simple but effective plot and storyline. It's a clean romance, kissing being the extent of the physical interactions between Charlie and Zach, but I didn't feel that this made it any less of a fun romantic read. The secondary characters were equally as interesting and the feel good vibe from this story will delight any romance reader. 4 stars!
Fun read! Great characters, great chemistry. I plan to read more by author.
One I love me a southern romance. They are my favorite to read. Zach and Charlie had their ups and downs. They wanted eachother and then they were stuck with the fear of losing the other. This was an emotional read at times. It was heartbreaking, and loving all in one. I loved being able to witness both Charlie and Zach figure out where their relationship should be. The love they have for eachother is apparent, it's just a matter of trusting yourself and the other person to love you. This was a great read!
