Description

Working cowgirl, Payton Hollis, has no time for hairdryers, heels and helplessness. She must save her home, Beargrass Hills Ranch. She also has no time for men. She already is boot-deep in blue-eyed cowboy trouble.

City-boy, Cordell Morgan, isn’t who he seems. His fancy suit and slow smile hide dark secrets. Secrets as to why his hands are callused, why he never stays around and why he has really come to Marietta, Montana.

Between a shrewd old rancher, a cantankerous rodeo horse and a stud bull called Trouble, Payton and Cordell have no chance to lead separate lives. No matter how much their futures may depend upon them doing so.

Can a sassy cowgirl lower her guard for a man who will soon be gone? And can a man who believes emotions are nothing but a liability take the ultimate risk?

I really enjoyed this book. I love a good cowboy romance and a strong cowgirl definitely spiced up this one. Terrific characters and a wonderful storyline.

OK, so I moved straight into this book this afternoon right after finishing Tease Me, Cowboy. I just couldn't wait. I have loved all 3 books in this series! And they have been short enough to tackle all in the past 24 hours. They are really great page turners!
In this story we have our head-strong, i can do everything myself, heroine match up with our i will not get attached no matter what hero. That makes for some sparky combo, i tell ya! LOL This was a really sweet story as well as the other 2 in this series. Both our hero and heroine have to let go of what they think makes them happy and come together with what does make them happy. There's a bit of mystery still left untold about our hero, I didn't quite figure out his past wholly, but a really good read all in all!

A quick and fun little novella about two strongly independent people that fate (or at least a stubborn neighbor/friend) keeps conspiring to throw together....does not hurt that there is attraction there. Though there are highs and lows in this story, the over-riding thread is a gentle and loving courtship.

I loved this book and have read the series, This ones about a girl who has no time for a hair dryer or anything else but saving her ranch, and will work hard to do it.

Then there's the mystery man with from the city but with calloused hands hiding secrets.

Then connection they feel is beyond anything they have known, can they make the right designs and move past the secrets?

Book 2 of Montana Born Rodeo, “Cherish Me, Cowboy” follows Payton Hollis and Cordell Morgan who literally met on the side of the road.

Still in her finery from being a bridesmaid in a wedding, Payton Hollis was trying to rescue a calf when city slicker Cordell Morgan drove by.

And though there is attraction at first sight, Payton has no time for men while Cordell holds a secret that can change his life in a heartbeat. So, there really is no chance for a HEA for them, or is there?

A fun read from beginning to end as you get to know Payton and Cordell. The book is Rated M for Mature due to a brief sexual content.

Dedicated cowgirl Payton Hollis works hard trying to save her ranch and enduring a very long drought. All the pressures land squarely on her shoulders and she's determined to succeed. When the mysterious and oh so handsome City boy Cordell Morgan shows up unexpectedly Payton's world is turned up side down.

A beautiful love story. This book is very well done and leaves you with a smile that stays with you for a very long time.

Cherish Me, Cowboy is a novella that has it all with memorable characters, drama, mystery and sweet romance. I was very pleasantly surprised that it has a very well developed storyline to be no longer than it is (about 70 pages on my device). This story is not short changed by its length. The characters Payton Hollis and Cordell Morgan are fleshed out so that they are likable and understandable in their actions. I liked that old coot, Henry too!

This is the first in the series of the Montana Born as well as the first book by Alissa Callen that I have read. I am impressed with both the series and the author. Looking at the publisher, Tule Publishing, looks to have the kind of books I enjoy and have authors I have been reading for years. I think I have found a new favorite publisher along with a new author.

I loved this book, it was like being wrapped in a warm hug and held tight until the very end. I loved every single thing, but the ending was my favourite part, and how Payton got her cowboy. It was beautiful and will be one I remember for a long time to come.

Cherish Me, Cowboy by Alissa Callen was a read that was absorbing from start to finish with enough depth and emotion from Payton and Cordell's characters that has the reader not wanting to put the book down. Payton and Cordell's attraction comes across as genuine throughout the read with many instances of heartfelt emotions that surface for each character and challenges them both. The story flowed well throughout with some additional characters added to the compelling story with a twist you don't see coming. A wonderful read right from the start.

This is the second book in the series, like the first book, it takes place in the town of Marietta in the time before, during and after the 76th annual Copper Mountain Rodeo. This book follows Payton and Cordell as they work to sort their lives and find happiness.

Payton is struggling to maintain her farm after a severe drought, her only help comes from her widowed, old neighbor and father like figure, Henry.

Cordell is on a mission to find someone [this is the juicy part], so he comes to town with a goal that does not include falling for a tough as nails cowgirl and finding a place to call home.

The story is great, it's sweet, it's dramatic and the characters are very likable. The combination of various authors, really makes this series shine. Every author brings their own great and unique style to the series. It's so hard not to include spoilers as I right this review, so that's your hint to how good this book actually is.

Cherish Me, Cowboy by Alissa Callen

Category Book review

In brief: Payton is a cowgirl who doesn’t need anything. But when Cordell helps her with a new calf, then needs a place to stay…well, things might just change.
The good: There are loads of things going on – including a mention or two of the characters in Rachael Johns’ Tease Me, Cowboy.
The not-so-good: I’d love to hear more about Rhett, even if he is a bit of a bad boy.
Why I chose it: Really enjoying this series. Thanks to Tule Publishing for the eARC.
Year: 2013 Pages: 130 (eARC)
Publisher: Tule Publishing Setting: Montana, USA My rating: 8.5 out of 10 Cherish Me, Cowboy has the distinction of being part of not one, but two series of cowboy/cowgirl themed books by Tule Publishing. It’s the second book in the Montana Born Rodeo series (you can read my review of the first book, Tease Me, Cowboy by Rachael Johns here) and the first book in the Wildflower Ranch series (all of which are written by Alissa Callen). Tule books are always a fun read, and Cherish Me, Cowboy is no exception. Payton is a cowgirl down to her bones – after the death of her parents, she’s had to be. Times are tough, with drought playing havoc on her ranch. She doesn’t need a man to slow her down but when on the way home from a wedding she needs to do farm work, she ties up her dress and gets down to work. Cordell, a man looking for some land for cattle to graze on, just happens to drive by and offers to lend a hand. Payton helps him to sweet talk neighbour Henry for the land (there may have been a cookie bribe involved), but there’s a catch- Cordell needs to live with Payton at Beargrass Hills Ranch while he gets himself organised. That sparks off an attraction between them and as they fall in love, secrets will be revealed. But will either of them let down their guard to reveal their feelings?
Cherish Me, Cowboy is a sassy read. Payton doesn’t take any guff from anybody, be it her friends or Cordell. She’s got a spine of steel but Callen demonstrates her vulnerability in subtle ways. Plus, she’s not afraid to act girly (even though Payton hates strappy sandals with a passion – give her boots any day). Cordell is a worthy hero – he’s kind and good in a crisis. Plus, he’s not afraid to take Payton’s would-be suitor, Rhett, to task when he goes off the rails. (I thought Rhett was rather cute despite being easily led to run with a bad crowd. Obviously all he needs is a good woman and a story of redemption, which is in Her Mistletoe Cowboy, book two in the Wildflower Ranch series). But of course he’s got secrets – quite a few to go through in this book. Some of the later reveals seemed pretty jam-packed into the pages, but it didn’t feel incomplete. Henry, a grumpy old rancher hiding a talent for matchmaking was also a standout in this book. I loved reading his interactions with Cordell and Payton – he’s gruff but you know he would do anything for either of them.
I think Tule books are going to be one of my go-to reads for holidays. The stories are light, but they never fail to entertain. The plots are multi-layered and you get a happy ending. What more could you wish for?
