Description
In our solar system,
On the fiery hot sun
Burned a mother solar flare
And her little flare, one.
“Sizzle,” said the mother.
“I sizzle,” said the one.
So they sizzled and they popped
On the fiery, hot sun.
Based on the poem “Over in the Meadow,” this galactic counting book guides readers from the sun all the way to the far reaches of our solar system with adorably anthropomorphized planets by illustrator Susanna Covelli. Parents or older readers will love the added fun facts on each page for even more information about the different celestial bodies, their moons, and their orbits.

This is a lovely book that teaches about the solar system term and entertains the young ones with poems relating to numbers and then planets. My boys were engaged by the poetry and images. Lovely little book to hook students and young children into space and science.

I have kids that love learning about space and the planets, and I think they would like this book! It is packed with interesting facts about the solar system and planets, and the illustrations are just beautiful! A perfect book for parents to read with their children.

Blown away by the illustrations and colors in this book. My family loves books about our solar system and this one fit in just great.

Beautiful illustrations with informative but not overwhelming facts on our solar system. Wonderful book for kids like mine who love astronomy. My daughter and I absolutely loved it!

this was brilliant! In Our Solar System uses a combination of poetry, prose, and colourful art to teach kids about the universe. each page has a fun fact that taught me things i didn't know either. the poems are slightly vague and can be used as riddles to guess which planet the author is talking about. the short thoughtful message about taking care of the earth was a lovely touch. did i mention the art was absolutely beautiful?

This book is cute and sweet. The poem reads like a modern nursery rhyme and the information about the planets and solar system would be interesting to older readers. The artwork is beautiful.

In Our Solar System is an absolute delight! It’s a fun and engaging story about the planets, featuring catchy rhymes and a great rhythm that makes it enjoyable to read aloud. I love how it incorporates counting. The additional facts about each planet add an extra layer of fun that parents and older kids would enjoy as well. Plus, the illustrations are absolutely incredible, bringing the wonders of space to life. This book is a fantastic choice for young space enthusiasts!

In Our Solar System, written by Jenny Sundstedt and illustrated by Susanna Covelli, is a brilliant picture book and counting poem about our solar system. Each page also includes more in depth information about space. The illustrations used are beautiful and the poem is a lot of fun for all.

I really enjoyed this book. I read this book with a child who loves space in mind, and on turning the final page, I knew I had to buy it for him!
The illustrations in this book are also top tier! Overall it makes for a really beautiful book for children

In Our Solar System combines a delightful counting poem about outer space, with informative and well-explained concepts. My children of varying ages each enjoyed this fun picture book about our incredible solar system, and my older child was especially fond of the fun facts on each page.
As this poem is based on “Over in the Meadow”, my children enjoyed knowing the rhythm of the poem and after the initial reading were able to recite large section of the counting poem back.
The illustrations by Susanna Covelli, are gorgeous and add to the beauty of this beautiful book.
Many thanks to Familius Books, Jenny Sundstedt and NetGalley for this e-ARC for review consideration, with an honest review.
This book would be a brilliant gift for children of all ages, and a wonderful addition to any family bookshelf.

In Our Solar System by Jenny Sundstedt is a perfect combination of fiction and nonfiction for young readers. The pattern and rhythm of the story encourages teachers/librarians to read the book aloud to and with students. Students can follow along and for early readers, the pattern and rhythm is an important stage in learning to read. The fun solar system facts will engage those students who enjoy nonfiction.
Great book!
