Description

A revenge plot sets sparks flying in this screwball paranormal romantic comedy of enemies-to-lovers, chaotic supernatural friend groups, and scorching chemistry from debut author Lucy Lehane.

Charlie needs to revamp his career. Writing advice columns was hard enough before the whole internet was dying to know how to date the undead – but Charlie’s as human as they come. And he has no idea how to answer the messages flooding his inbox, like My Workplace Slack Is Haunted; Should I Cross Dimensions For a Fling? and How Exactly Do You Smash A…

When a chance nocturnal meeting at a local coffee shop sees him reuniting with Lorenzo – a vampire with an axe to grind – Charlie thinks he’s found his ticket to immortal career success. But Lorenzo has plans of his own: to get revenge on Charlie for separating Lorenzo from the love of his life years ago. When Lorenzo draws Charlie into his world of monsters and mayhem, he finds new friends and old souls that span centuries of existence, yet are somehow just as lost as the two of them. But as Charlie and Lorenzo grow unexpectedly closer, the secrets they dwell under might just crush them.

Can their love survive demons and drama? And which will prove deadlier… bloodlust or betrayal?

Lucy Lehane's debut novel, *Thirsty*, slated for release in October 2025, offers a delightful blend of paranormal intrigue and romantic comedy, delivering a fresh take on the enemies-to-lovers trope within a queer narrative.

The story centers on Charlie, a struggling advice columnist facing a unique challenge: an influx of supernatural inquiries from readers. To address these otherworldly dilemmas, he partners with Lorenzo, a 239-year-old vampire, aiming to gain insights into the hidden supernatural community. Their collaboration, initially rooted in mutual benefit, soon evolves into a complex relationship filled with undeniable chemistry and a shared quest for revenge. As they navigate chaotic supernatural social circles and personal vendettas, sparks fly, leading to unexpected romantic developments.

Lehane's writing seamlessly blends elements of supernatural fantasy with contemporary romance, creating a story that's both entertaining and heartfelt. The novel explores themes of identity, community, and the complexities of modern relationships, all while maintaining a lighthearted and humorous tone.

"If you're going to make the dangerous choice, make sure you do it with your eyes open"

What to expect:

⭐ Grumpy X Sunshine
⭐ A couple hundred years age gap
⭐ Lots of banter
⭐ Community
⭐ A light-hearted read
⭐ All the supernatural creatures you could wish for

I jumped onto this book immediately after finishing a different vampire romance, and it did not disappoint! There was everything you could hope for in a paranormal romance including a world where the paranormal have "come out" and are living calmly alongside humans, and a diverse cast of characters that introduce you to the ins and outs of the supernatural life.

Although you can see the cause of the third act breakup coming from a mile away, there's a reason the quote goes: "it's about the journey, not the destination" and the journey more than made up for it. Between the adventures of Charlie meeting different supernatural characters, Charlie and Lorenzo start to slowly open up to each other, and with that, a sweet romance bloomed. Although both are reluctant to let themselves fall for the other, they both eventually realize that there's no stopping their feelings for each other, so why try?

Overall, this book was a light-hearted, easy read that'll be perfect for your fall tbr (or anytime you're feeling spooky, really).
