Description
A gifted rider in a world where ladies never race, Maggie Linden is determined that her horse will become a champion. But the one man who could help her has vowed to stay away from thoroughbred racing forever.
An Irishman far from home, Cullen McGrath left a once prosperous life in England because of a horse racing scandal that nearly ruined him. He's come to Nashville for a fresh start, hoping to buy land and begin farming, all while determined to stay as far away from thoroughbred racing as possible. But starting over proves harder than he'd wagered, especially when Maggie Linden's father makes him an offer he shouldn't accept yet cannot possibly refuse.
Maggie is certain that her mare, Bourbon Belle, can take the top purse in the inaugural Peyton Stakes, the richest race ever run in America. Maggie only needs the chance to prove it. To give her that chance—and to save Linden Downs from being sold to the highest bidder—Maggie's father, aging, yet wily as ever, makes a barter. His agreement includes one tiny, troublesome detail––Maggie must marry a man she's never met. A man she never would have chosen for herself.

Hmm, a historical novel?
One where the storyline involves a marriage of convenience?
Written by amazing storyteller Tamera Alexander?
Why, of course I’ll be glad to read it!
I think I’ve mentioned a time or two how much I love historical fiction. Reading stories that are inspired by times past -and the men and women who lived it – simply pulls at my heartstrings. So of course – as always – it was pure enjoyment picking up the latest in the Belle Meade Plantation series. First few pages in, I was wowed away! The history… The feelings…
WOW!
To Win Her Favor is definitely a read that goes straight to the heart. Embedded with deep and unforgettable emotion, this novel had me thinking about its many twists and turns long after my bedtime. Until I couldn’t help but finish off the last few chapters. I loved how unique Maggie and Cullen were from any of Alexander’s previous characters. I really enjoyed ”meeting” and getting to know them. The only problem I had with this novel were the romantic scenes that made me a bit too uncomfortable. But all in all, To Win Her Favor was still an enjoyable read. Now I eagerly looked forward to reading more of Savannah Darby’s story! {4.3 Stars}
