Description
The content of this book can enhance mental, emotional, spiritual and social health, each of which affects relationships. It gives life meaning by providing a clear goal to aim for: a goal that is supposedly the cornerstone of all democratic societies and approved by all major religions. It can guide everything you say and do in awkward or difficult situations involving other people.
Peace and happiness depends on the quality of our relationship with other people. High quality relationships are grounded in equality to balance the needs of freedom and belonging so there is no domination or division.
People who seek high quality relationships can sometimes find themselves at odds living in an unequal society in which many of our social systems, traditions and entertainment glamorise and promote inequality and violence.
Ancient scriptures and modern studies reveal that most social problems are linked to inequality of some kind; with power-seeking and revenge causing most troubles in human relationships.
Having equality as your basic value can give you direction and guidance, meaning and purpose, when you are faced with a conflict of needs. It can transform disputes and conflicts into opportunities to improve the quality of any relationship. ‘Equality Road’ is the road of, not the road to, peace and happiness. That means you can enjoy the ride as you gain self-confidence and self-esteem.The three main areas affecting happiness are the home, work and social life. Although most disputes seem to happen in close relationships, you also need confidence when responding to differences with people you just want to be on good terms with and those who are aggressive.
Travelling the Road of Peace and Happiness uses basic family situations, simple guidelines and examples to show how skills and tools you already have can be used to build quality relationships anywhere by using power with others rather than competing to gain and use power over others.
