I have seldom read more practical, Biblical advice. I wish I had been handed such a book when I was a tween or teen. That would have saved me a lot of heartache. Lots of truth, helpful hints, and very practical application of Scripture showing how to negotiate growing up in the very confusing world we have.
In this book girls will learn the 10 ultimate truths girls should know such as, kindness is more important than popularity, you were born to fly, today's choices set the stage for your reputation, chasing boys doesn't make you cool. It makes you a nuisance, you weren't made to worship yourself, people peak at different times in life. Trust God's plan for you, get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Otherwise you'll never stick to your guns, boys are visual creatures. The clothing choices you make affect the way they see you, pretty girls are a dime a dozen. Outer beauty attracts attention, but inner beauty is what holds it and the source of all peace and happiness lives inside you. Learn to listen to the whispers of God over the megaphone of public opinion.
I absolutely love this book and all that it teaches young girls. As the mother of three girls I know just how important each one the these 10 ultimate truths girls should know truly is. This book is something every young girl should read because it begins to teach girls about the broken world and how to become the young women God made them to be. I enjoyed reading this book very much and while my girls are too young to read it right now, it will be something that each one of them reads in the coming years. I highly recommend this book to all parents with young girls, as well as young girls themselves. Disclosure: I received product(s) for free, in exchange for my honest review. I received a copy of this e-book in return for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
Being a mother to three girls, this book really jumped out at me. In fact, I plan on buying a copy to read to them as they get older. I found the truths to be really good for anyone, though the book seems to be aimed at the tween/teen girl age. This book definitely has a spiritual focus to it which was perfect for me. I want to raise my girls to be strong, beautiful christian women, inside and out. This book is an excellent tool for me to help them as they grow.

If I could return to my teen years, I would love to be given THIS book. But I can take some of the wisdom now even - yes, now as a woman I am a bit wiser, but most of the truths still apply (and, honestly, sometimes I feel the people hasn't change that much from the high school times, including me).
The authoress obviously get young women. The book is both inspirational and practical, sharing Biblical wisdom and hard-learned truths in a very engaging and refreshingly honest way. It feels like talking to your trusted friend, the one bit older and definitely wiser, with whom you can share the questions and situations, and whom you know to respect you and honor you with loving, truthful advice.
Kari offers 10 truths on popularity, confidence, reputation, interacting with boys, self-worship, perseverance, patience, image, inner beauty, and self-talk. These truths work well to invite the girls to build their lives on God and to better understand the process of walking with Him, while still living in the world and facing the real situations like mean girls, beauty struggles and boyfriend-related issues.

I am grateful to Thomas Nelson Publishing and netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read Kari Kampakis' 10 Ultimate Truths Girls Should Know.
Kampakis establishes a wonderful tone in her book that makes her click with the young readers right away and takes them on an eye-opening journey: the discovery of faith as a powerful tool for encouragement and contentment. She finds an admirable balance between explanation and spiritual guidance that is second to none, and speaks straight from every mother's heart. She creates a valuable guideline not only for teenagers, but also for mothers who are looking for advice on how to spiritually nurture their daughters and how to help them cultivate their inner beauty.
She does a fantastic job in helping teenagers to expose our empty, trivial and popularity-driven mainstream culture for the shallow construction that it is, and also in providing practical advice on how to let God in your life in order to find your way. She outlines how a strong spiritual basis can help you make it through these challenging and stressful teenage years.
Each chapter provides helpful quotations from the Bible embedded in real life examples as well as valuable approaches for solving various problems teenagers are faced with nowadays, such as bullying, dating, wardrobe choices, mean friends, etc.
At the end of each chapter she presents a section with questions that are meant to help teenagers to reflect on what they just read and to support them in using their faith to overcome challenges. Thus, it becomes very clear to young kids how to let God into your life, and how this then allows you to lead a better life.
I especially liked the inspiring chapter on perseverance. As she says, life has ups and downs, and kids have to learn especially how to cope well with negative experiences in order to become confident individuals.
This amazing book belongs into each and every school library and as many households as possible. Your daughters will thank you for offering them a clear outline on how to make the right decisions in life! A truly excellent book! One reviewer said that she wished this book had been around when she was a young girl and I can only agree to this. 10 Ultimate Truths Girls Should Know deserves all the praise it gets and more!
