This really did remind me of The Wind and The Willows. It's just for a new generation. So cute and fun. Well written with great illustrations. Perfect for children.

The Frog in the Tree reminds me of Winnie the Pooh books, and the Wind in the Willow. A story of a crow and a frog who are very different. Throughout the course of the book they become close friends. The writing in this book is excellent and while focused on younger audiences, I enjoyed it as an adult.

“The Frog in the Tree” is a lovely children's book that is told in verse. The drawings are in black and white and are very well done and match the story beautifully. The verse is a lovely way to read the book aloud and has the added benefit of helping lull a little one to sleep.

The story begins with a frog who is living in a tree. He has hidden away from the world and doesn't want to return to where he came from. He is forced out of his hidden comfort when he leaves the tree to save a baby bird.

It turns out that the frog has hidden away because everyone made fun of him and he couldn't stand it anymore. The bird convinces him that life will change because frog has changed – he is a hero now because he saved the little bird.

This is a wonderful little story for young children. It teaches love and acceptance and that everyone has a place and finding it is important, no matter what you think others think of you.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Sweet and caring this story revolves around family and being lost while keeping a magical perceptive of live. Froggy has been living on the trees for the past 100 days because he believes his family just doesn't care about him, he knows frogs shouldn't live in trees but that doesn't seem to mind him. He's adapted into his new world until a young crow falls into the river and he goes to help knowing that she will drown if he doesn't intervene. Seeing himself through the eyes of his new friend will help him understand that now all is what it seems and that family is a strong a bond.
The pictures are beautiful and I am just sad they aren't all in color, I think it would be a marvelous addiction if they were so. The verses are clean and easy to read and this book would be wonderful to read at bedtime for children.

Beautiful artwork and a wonderful story. I read it aloud to my son, and he loved it, too!

This would be 3.5 on my blog. The illustrations for this story are wonderful but I was disappointed that they were in black and white, and not color like the cover. I think pictures in books aimed at the lapsit reading crowd should be in color. This is a rhyming story and most of the rhymes were well thought out, but there were several rhymes that were stretches and they completely threw off the reading rhythm. I adored the outcast loner frog learning he was loved theme, but there was one scene, of an imminent deadly fall over a waterfall, that I feel would be too scary for the ages this was intended for. I was approved for This book will not be fully reviewed on my blog because it is under a 4 star rating, but may be featured in a post of multiple mini-reviews for 3.5 star rated Children's books.

This is a delightful rhyming story about a frog who runs away from home and hides in a tree because other frogs make fun of him. One day he sees a crow fall in the creek and he rescues it. The adventure continues as the crow convinces Froggy to return to his family.

The story has a wonderful message about family, love, courage and encouragement. An added bonus is that this enchanting story rhymes! Many children start school not understanding what makes a rhyming word, so this is a good opportunity for parents to help teach young ones while reading them creative book complete with illustrations.

I highly recommend this book.

This is the rhyming story of a little frog who lived in a tree because he felt that he didn't belong anywhere else. It is a cute story about bravery and acceptance and reminds me a little of The Wind in the Willows.
I like the traditional drawing style pictures that accompany this story.

How cute. I loved the flow of the language and the pictures. If he was being teased, though, i wish they had bothered to apologize instead of telling him to just ignore it. Everything else I really did enjoy.

Notable Quote:

"The bird spoke up as she looked above,
'Mr. Frog, I must ask you...what is this word - love?'
He thought, and he thought, as he racked his brain.
'Love is a word that's not easily explained.
It's a feeling you feel somewhere deep in your heart,
And true love indeed, never ends - it just starts.'"

What an adorable book! I actually enjoyed the text rhyming and the illustrations were gorgeous. A cute little book about a young frog who leaves home and lives in a tree, because he felt like he didn't belong anywhere. When he saves the life of a baby crow, he's given a new perspective. I'd recommend it for ages 4-7 most likely. Thanks to Netgalley for this one.

Review will be posted June 19

The Frog In The Tree is about an outcast frog who has been living in a tree. He thought that others would pick on him because he was different so he instead chose to stay in the tree. The tree tells him that he should go off and see all there is to see, but he doesn't want to. Then he meets a bird who wants to see where he is from and learn about love. He saved the bird and realizes he is a hero and that he should be at home where he belongs. When he gets home his family is so happy to see him and they were missing him and loving him the whole time he was gone. This book is written all in rhyme which is always impressive!

A cute children's book with some fun illustrations and a great lesson on how your family loves you no matter how different you may think you are!

I received an e-copy in exchange for this honest review.

This was an absolutely enchanting story of a small frog who runs away from home because he felt unloved , he isolates himself from the world, but jumps into action to save a little bird from danger and in so doing he finds a friend and his courage. It was very enjoyable and is told in a rhyming pattern which was easy to follow and flowed very well. This would be a great story for children of all ages.

Well written rhyming story about the value of family.

Paul Waters has created a wonderful and heartfelt rhyming story, which carries the message, that we are special just the way we are. The most important thing is, to accept ourselves and never to allow others to give us the feeling of being of low value.
It's also a story of friendship and helping each other.
Larson's artwork is just superb. The black and white drawings are kept in the style of Wind and the Willows and are splendid to look at.

This one is a keeper. A beautiful book for children and adults alike and one to pick up from the shelf, time and again.

The short story is about doubts, strength and the support of others that help you to accept that ther is nothing bad in being different

And next to this beautiful story, with rhyming words, I loved the gorgeous illustrations so cutey that make the whole book a wonderful edition to enjoy a lot of times!

This is a story of family, friends, love, bravery, and learning to accept yourself just as you are. The pencil drawn illustrations are wonderful and complement the story quite well.

Heartwarming with a Message

This delightful tale of a fearful frog and the little crow he rescues will really hit home for any child who just doesn’t feel like they fit in anywhere. Love the story and the beautiful illustrations. The only thing that could make this better would be to put those illustrations in full color on some of the pages.

I received my advanced reading copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was initially not thrilled with this book. I thought where's the acceptance? Why can't a frog live in a tree if he wants too? But...he's a young frog, not an adult frog, and he needs to be home with his family. I loved the ending and the 'be happy with who you are' theme. Very cute story.

This is a simple little story about a frog who has left his family behind and has taken up residence in a tree. One day he meets a baby crow (^.^), who's in a bit of a fix.
After the frog helps him out, he and the baby crow get talking, and the baby crow wonders out loud why the frog is living in a tree, which is a rather unusual place of residence for a frog.

The story is basically about friendship, courage and the love of family.

Everybody has been drawing comparisons between this book and The Wind in the Willows. However, as I haven't read the latter, I cannot comment on the similarities!

I also loved this sentence about the author from his bio: "Paul Waters was born and schooled in England, but says his real education did not begin until he was seventeen, when he ran away to sea."
