Five Stars: Saints & Sinners Book Review ~ Lauren

WOW!! This is the kind of debut novel that every author dreams about writing!

Chasing Victory is perfect and masterful blending of science fiction, romance, and the paranormal into one tight perfectly delivered book. Page after page, I found myself becoming more and more engrossed with the story and its characters. You can even ask my husband when I tell you that he missed a meal because of this book. I think one of the biggest reasons why this book resonated with me so much is that it pulls on my career heart strings as I am a cancer research scientist. It’s not often that you see a bit of science thrown into a book such as this.

Joanne’s characters are very well thought out and developed. Her hero is the perfect balance of intelligence, brass, and sex appeal. Tristan will melt your panties off with a smile while boggling you with his wit and intelligence. Yet, I am pulled more towards Victory. She’s special to me both in the sheer fact she’s a sassy female scientist (YOU GO GIRL) and her additional abilities. I have often wondered what my cats or puppies are thinking at times and she gets to do that!! Outside of Dr. Doolittle and the wild world of werewolves and shifters, do you ever see a human woman with these kinds of abilities!! Braxton is the perfect anti-hero. He’s willingly to do whatever it takes for his company and his ideals to succeed including kidnapping a woman and forcing her to work on her pet project. Just the sheer evilness of man who threatens peoples live in the name of science just screams evil genius to me!

Joanne Jaytanie has delivered the perfect paranormal romance & suspense novel. Like me, I bet you’ll find it difficult to put it down. So before you pick this one up, and I know you will, you might want to just clear your calendar for a few hours. I look forward to reading by Joanne!

5 stars…LOVE THIS ~ Cyn’s Reviews

I have to say most of the Paranormal I do not care for with that said I will also say this author had me hooked from the start to finish. I loved the suspense with just a little mystery there is a thrill a minute in this read. I am not sure what I expected is sure wasn't what I got Ms. Jaytanie really blew me away with her wonderful scenes, characters and her outstanding writing style. I won this in a give away I was a little uneasy when I downloaded it. I am very thankful for the gift and turning me on to a new author that I would not have given a second look to.

You have a many alpha males here who use to be ex military. Brothers who can talk without talking. What it must be like to be in someone else mind is mind blowing. Tristan is a sweetheart of a man not knowing what he is getting into as he is on the hunt for the bad men. He is hot on their trail when one ends up dead with no leads only a smell of a women he must find before it is to late, could she be in on this or is she innocent. The hunt is on.... It doesn't take him long to get into the thrill of action that he dearly loves. He might have gotten in over his head in more ways than one.

Victory loves animals, she has spent her life talking to and helping them. She is doing research to help find people unique ability in hope to find curses to help humans. One night, one old friend will change her life and the path she is on. With being kidnap she is force to do her research on canine DNA. She is shocked at what she sees, what she finds is mind blowing, she will spend her time working hard to help those that are hurt by this research. Victory is just one sweet loveable caring lady who is out to help the world. She has a rough road which could lead to her death if not her sister’s death. So many life's can be lost if this isn't handle very carefully.

Robin Rowan has a very smooth voices I thought her male voices were outstanding at times I forgot it was a female voice. I loved her many voices which I thought added much to the listen. There was only one of the sisters voice I didn't care to much for but it wasn't bad at all. I thought she did an outstanding job bring your heart to your chest as she spins the tale the author gives us. I am so looking forward to listening to more from this narrator.

There are so many wonderful characters I hope each one get their own story as this series continues. It is a thriller which keep you hopping, with a few Oh Mys thrown in as you cheer for this team to find a way out and help those injected with the DNA. This story will break your heart as it raises you up with the humor. I chuckled a time or two as well as laughed out loud. It is a very touching read with a little romance thrown in, which is well written and flows smoothly. I felt so much pain for the victims I could hear as well as see their pain. For those that where implanted with canis DNA the author showed the pain as they learn to deal with many issues. I would think if and when the time ever comes that this is done it will be as the author has wrote it or very close. I found this to be a very believable story as chills run down my back at the thought of this ever happening. I have no doubt there are people out there who would love to have the perfect soldier and would do anything to make this happen.

I could relate to each character in this well told story of what the future might bring. I just might be hooked on reading a few more Paranormal. I do want to thank this author for giving this audio in a drawing and letting me listen to it. I wouldn't have missed it for the world and am so looking forward to reading/listening to more from her. My hats off to you for one outstanding read.

Absolutely worth all 5 stars! Awesome debut! I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Action, romance, suspense.... This story has it all!

Victory Winters has just seen an old friend murdered. And has to put on a good face to keep herself and those she loves safe. Will she ever be able to return to her "normal" life again? After being kidnapped and held against her will to head up experiments on human subjects, how can she get free? Add Tristan and her distrust of him. But she has no choice to let this man in her head. Tristan’s military experience prepares him for the stealth and danger in this overwhelming situation. But is it enough to keep them both alive and save everyone.

Five Stars ~Absolutely Intriguing!

Victory receives a call from an ex saying he needs her help with something and to meet at their old picnic spot. When she gets there she ends up witnessing his death. Now she is on the run. She knows that they will be after her so she goes to her sister. She can sense that someone is following her. There is something more to Victory than meets the eye.

Tristan is Military and works under his brothers command. He was already following Victory's ex. Now his goal, since they now know Victory is innocent, is to keep Victory safe. There is also something special about Tristan and his brother. They are Telepathic. Turns out to keep Victory safe they end up having to work very close together after Victory is kidnapped and forced to work for the enemy. Turns out Victory is Telepathic also. Which may work in their favor.

Turns out Biotec, the bad guys, are experimenting with injecting canine DNA into humans and they now want Victory as they feel she is the most qualified person for the job. They were determined to get her help any way they could.

I LOVED this book! I wasn't sure what to expect really. Joanne throws some curves at you and keeps you on your toes! Once you start reading you don't want to put it down, at least I didn't. I'm highly anticipating book 2! I would definitely recommend reading this book!

WOW. Okay I was not prepared to be impressed. However, I am very very impressed with this writing. From start to finish it is a page turner but one you do not want to end. The story is not predictable, it is unusual in the setting and the mix of characters. It has all the elements you could ask for in a fantastic read and more! After reading this book, I immediately purchased book 2 in the series and am done with it already! Another wow! I wish book three was ready for I cannot wait to see what happens next and what the author accomplishes with the finale. This author is talented and versatile in their writing style. The stories she weaves is enthralling. You do not want to miss this book or the series! Regards, Anna....Swedenmom

Sometimes a novel comes along that just hits all of your “right” buttons. Chasing Victory was that kind of book for me. Genetic research is a subject that has always fascinated me – in fiction and nonfiction. My son has a genetic disease, so there is one reason. My animals always seem to “know” things before they should – extra sensitive hearing, or who knows why but the fact that animals react to things we mere humans cannot grasp has also been a long area of interest to me. Combine those two interest into a sci-fi, paranormal, romance, what if kind of book and I am a happy reader.

Since the synopsis has done a very good job of giving us the basics of this one, let me give you my impressions. First of all, Braxton, the CEO of Biotec is a major scumbag with no redeeming qualities. It is his intent to create genetically enhanced super soldiers, and Victory’s research is at the heart of his mad scheme.

Victory is one badass lady. She might be down on occasion, but do not count her out. Victory’s research is so important to her, but the lives of the men who have been subjected to the madness of Braxton are far more important to her. She will do whatever she can to help them.

Tristan is just swoon-worthy. Alpha male, military, special abilities and sexy as all get out. Where can I find one of my own, please?

Tristan and Victory are extremely leery of each other at first. In their situation, it’s difficult to know who to trust. Their chemistry is obvious, and their combined sex appeal is off the charts. That special connection of being able to use their minds to communicate with each other just adds another level to this couple.

I simply fell into this novel, nothing was a reach, everything made sense in this world because most of it is based on what ifs and that is the first step to believing that anything is possible. I’d recommend this first novel in the series to anyone who enjoys paranormal or sci-fi – if you can take a what if situation and run with it, you’ll enjoy this novel. As to the rest, looking for a fast paced, draw you in deep kind of romance? Then this is your treat as well.

The next novel in the series, Payton’s Pursuit is now available.

*I received an e-ARC of Chasing Victory from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*

The first book in the Winters Sisters Series, Chasing Victory focuses on Victory Winters, a genetics researcher. After witnessing the murder of her college friend, Victory realizes that she must flee to safety because of what she saw. Tristan is a member of a covert government organization that is watching a rival genetics company, Biotec. Biotec wants Victory on their payroll and will do anything to get her. After meeting Tristan, she isn’t sure if he can be trusted or not. But, her telepathic abilities to communicate with canines enables her to communicate telepathically with Tristan and he wins over her trust.

This was a very interesting and fast paced novel. Right from the beginning the suspense story kicks off with a BANG (pun intended)! Victory’s research is very interesting and well developed within the story. I especially enjoyed how Tristan and his brother’s abilities came into play. The pace was perfectly set while each element of the story changed throughout the pages. Just when the romance came into play, the suspenseful elements would come back around. It was really well done and kept me wanting more. I’m interested in seeing where the rest of this series goes and to learn more about Victory’s sister’s and their family business.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Excellent character development. Strong, independent and intelligent heroine with a sexy, intelligent hero. Perfect compliment. The story has something for everyone: action packed thriller with a side of paranormal, and genetic engineering. Will definitely read the whole series.
