I wondered why we say this prayer, so I asked mommy.
She said it is because the whole world belongs to God.
Everything we do is for God's glory which is like a big celebration that shows Him how amazing we think He is.

I loved everything about this book about the Lord's Prayer for young children. The story begins when four-year-old, Emma, opens her front door to the your child, introduces herself, and says, "I'm so glad we have a playdate today". She tells her friend about a few things she enjoys. The story reads like a back-and-forth conversation with questions for the child to answer. When her mom provides a snack, Emma prays the Lord's prayer and explains briefly what each line means.

This is a wonderful, interactive experience for young children with an opportunity to share this very special prayer and it's meaning.

The book Let's Learn about The Lord's Prayer by Catherine DeVries is a wonderful children's book about the Lord's prayer. The book takes you through a playdate with Emma. The story starts in Emma's room but then goes to the kitchen for lunch. Emma then explains the Lord's prayer line by line and explains each line in a way a child can understand. My children really loved this book.

The book is very colorful and appealing to children and adults alike. My children asked me several times to read the book to them as I was writing this review. My kid's favorite part is the page where it says "Some friends of Jesus wrote down this prayer in the Bible. And do you know what? This prayer has been told to other people ever since-- from grandpas and grandmas, to moms and dads, to kids everywhere so that everyone can know about it. It's very important!" Every time we get to that page my kids say "My mom and dad???" The wording is perfect to keep the young reader's attention through the whole book. I know my kids got drawn into the story and enjoyed this book greatly. The only thing I can complain about this book is that there was no sandwich for the reader. Maybe Emma could say "Here is your plate." or "Come sit next to me." But I will use my imagination to pretend the reader's plate is on the part of the table that is not in the picture and enjoy the story. I certainly would not keep from buying the book because of a drawing. I got the honor of reviewing a digital copy of this book, but I'm thinking about buying a hard copy for our home library. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn the Lord's Prayer or teaching prayers to children. My children loved this book. I am excited to read other titles in the HeartSmart Series by Catherine DeVries.

Emma invites her friends aka the reader inside of home for a lesson on prayer. I absolutely loved this book. The author wrote this book in such a way it could be used in an interactive way. Emma asks question - pause - then answers the question. That was one of the things I loved about the book. It lets the reader feels as though they are really in Emma's house.

I highly recommend this book.

I received this wonderful book as an ARC from David C. Cook Publishing on NetGalley. Great story by Catherine DeVries, and excellent illustrations by Ryan Jackson.

The story is about Emma, a four year old girl who has recently learned the Lord's Prayer and wants to share it with you and your friends. My daughters are 3 and 6, and I know they will love this book. In fact, it is written in a way that my 6-year-old could read it by herself. Each page is short, succinct, and simple. Emma engages the reader in dialogue by asking questions throughout the book.

I love that each verse of the Lord's Prayer is described so that your child can understand what and why they are saying instead of just repeating an old prayer. The end of the book contains a page with the whole prayer in its entirety. It also mentions that there is a custom song available for download, but you need to have an access code.

Overall this is a very enjoyable debut issue for the new HeartSmart series. I would definitely but this for my children and as a gift. I look forward to owning the whole collection.

Lovely little book for ages 0-5 that puts the Lord's Prayer into a friendly context of a little girl explaining the prayer to a friend on a playdate. She introduces the reader to her very best friends, her stuffed teddy bear and Jesus as she explains the prayer that her family has taught her. It is very interactive with the reader and prompts a child to respond to questions and learn the prayer along with her. A sweet story with an everlasting message.

Catherine DeVries' Let's Learn About the Lord's Prayer provides the perfect way to introduce children to God in everyday life. I found the illustrations to be bright and cheerful. I loved the way Emma welcomed the reader into her home. She was able to illustrate how the prayer is used at mealtimes and teach the meaning behind the words in a more simplified way. Closing the book with Emma teaching the Lord's Prayer to her favorite stuffed teddy, Blueberry, is a good way to end and offers children the opportunity to practice the prayer again.

I would absolutely recommend this purchase. My own 21 month old would love this as a board book, and I know that he would enjoy looking at the pictures and listening to me read the story aloud.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
