This is a brilliantly different book, one to make you smile and brighten your day! Filled with around a hundred Community Service Announcements - or messages to change your day - this collection contains the author’s all time favourites of the 800 or so he has produced so far. These are normally shared by the New York based artist via his newspaper, Jeremyville RAW, but have also been exhibited at art Museums around the world. Here they are collected together to inspire through illustrated messages promoting the artist’s desire to make the world a more positive, brighter and thoughtful place for us all to live in. What a great message for everyone and a lovely book to dip into for inspiration - and a giggle - this is a fantastic picture book for adults to enjoy!

Having said all that, I also think teachers could easily share some of the images to help inspire their pupils, too. There are many of them that are relevant to children as well as adults and their clear message makes them accessible too. They could be used to prompt discussions regarding the message or to inspire pupils to create their own to inspire others about things that may be annoying them, too, A potentially very useful resource in schools!

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ever had one of those days where you struggle to make it through the day?

We all go through a tough day now and again and this book is the ONE book you need to make you smile. Filled with Community Service Announcements, Jeremyville (author and artist) gives you the pick-me-up you need. The illustrations are bright and colorful while the messages are short and to the point. As I was flipping through the book, a smile spread across my face and I instantly felt happier.

A great gift for anyone or even yourself.

My Rating: 5+ stars

'Live Life Funny Side Up' by Jeremy Ville is a refreshingly different take on positive affirmations, inspirational thoughts and potential answers to your own rhetorical questions about life. Collated in 'Live Life Sunny Side Up' are the author's own 100 favourite illustrations; what he calls his Community Service Announcements (in his introduction the author imagines a poster delivering an educational message to the public!)
The illustrations are quirky, bold and eye-catching; the messages are modern (e.g. 'Don't get lost online, p.83) and thought-provoking.
This is a fab book to keep on your bedside table, in your handbag or even on a shelf in the loo to dip into from time to time when the need arises. As Jeremy Ville says 'We all need ways to reflect, contemplate and enter into our own thoughts' (p.6) and 'Life Life Sunny Side Up' is one of the routes to take you there!
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Really fun!

This cheery book of wisdom is above average in its field. Good for a small gift or a vote of encouragement, the colorful and well-done illustrations do the job. Not all message suggestions are equally profound, but overall the volume has a nice tone.

'Live Life Sunny Side Up' by Jeremyville is a collection of that the artist would like to see as public service announcement posters around town.

First of all, I don't think the cover to this book does it justice. The art is colorful and cheerful and the messages are affirming. There are messages that chide, but in a bright, friendly way. We are encouraged to pay attention to today and spend more time with people and less time with our devices. We are encouraged to keep going, and to create by moonlight, and to imagine different tomorrows. This would be a fun book of perforated postcards that could be sent or tacked up. If it ever became a guerilla art movement, it would probably bring the kind of smiles that flash mobs did a few years back.

I think if someone had described the book to me I wouldn't have given it a shot, but I kind of stumbled into it and I really enjoyed it. I immediately recognized Jeremyville's style from some wallpaper I used and from some t-shirts on the Threadless.com site. His style is bright and a little weird, but completely fun. This would be a great gift book or something to leave out on a coffee table to look through when you're feeling down.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this really fun ebook.
