Snow Beach is about an older woman, Aimee de Roseville, who returns to her childhood country in order to regain the inheritance she lost when her father died. Filled with rage, Aimee's goal is to find out why her inheritance was stolen from her by her Uncle Paul. But, what Aimee finds in the end is not at all what she expected.

This book was absolutely amazing for a first time author, and I eagerly look forward to The Island Girl and Sweet Sugar. The was that the characters were written was just outstanding. As a lesbian myself, the wonderful portrayal of two types of same-sex relationships was the cherry on top. During the entirety of the book, my face was as lit up as a christmas tree. I could not stop smiling from ear to ear, covering my mouth as I gripped my iPad, or laughing when the story saw fit. While all of the things stated above are what kept me reading, what really got me was the fact that you had a female character who was going through a very difficult time with no money to her name, and this character, Miss Aimee de Roseville, ended up getting to a better circumstance because she believed in herself to so.

I really appreciated this and cannot wait to purchase a hardcopy of this novel to place in my library. Excellent work, Sophie Cayeux! Keep it up!

'Snow Beach,' by Sophie CayeuxSnow Beach by Sophie Cayeux, the first book in the Mauritius Migrants series, is a story about Aimee de Roseville told in three parts: Healing, Thriving, and Flourishing. These three episodes follow Aimee’s journey through the healing process as she sets on a path of rediscovery.

Healing: When Aimee ends her long-term relationship with Julia, she take some time to figure out her future.

She spent so much of her life catering to Julia by being her housemaid and caretaker that she was actually more of a servant than a girlfriend. During this period of healing, Aimee moves in with her uncle and lands a job with the Snow Beach team in Mauritius, the land of her birth.

Thriving: Using the skills that she has honed during her servitude to Julia, Aimee successfully tackles her duties on the Snow Beach team. She schedules trips, keeps the house running, and acts as a mediator. In this part of the story, Aimee begins the process of building a new life but this is also accompanied by pangs of loneliness.

Flourishing: When Preeti walks back into her life, Aimee cannot believe that this beautiful woman is interested in her. Aimee and Preeti are tender and sweet as they get to know each other. Along the way they collaborate on regaining Aimee’s inheritance to the Gerbville Sugar Estate.

Snow Beach was very plot-heavy; there was a lot going on during this adventure with Aimee. The drama is further heightened with the love triangle between Kevin, Ruby, and Fiona.

While the drama gets tiresome at times, it provides a distraction that Aimee greatly needs from her own issues. The relationships between the characters are real, believable, and allow you to engage with the action.

Snow Beach is a well-paced and fun story that certainly captures one’s attention. There isn’t a lot of action for Aimee but there seems to be a substantial amount going on in the bedrooms around her.

Sophie Cayeux develops her characters well, each showing their personalities and emotions. The only thing missing is a bit more romance for our main character, Aimee. Overall Snow Beach is a great read that you can just sit back and enjoy and I anxiously await the next releases in the Mauritius Migrants series.

good writing but it had me frustrated and a bit angry at times when the author could not decide whether to have Aimee stop thinking about her bitter ex (Julia) who treated her not as a girlfriend but as a housemaid/keeper/whatever after being together for twenty something years, then she was even telling her how much money to spend...this was mistreatment..at least she got up and left but i think Aimee waited too late to leave she should have left earlier but Julia took advantage and bully her, she was vulnerable because of all that she went thru in her time with her family and her being banish from Mauritius, plus the trauma of loosing both mom and the man she thought was her real father...now this story took us another direction which was good in a way because this was good that's what books are suppose to do make us think brilliantly done love the twist..only and little stress with the writing going back and forth but highly recommend to anyone looking for book on beach...love Aimee and Preeti getting to know each other and little late in the story but was sweet...
