Has some good facts interspersed throughout the story, but written as more of a small chapter book. Nice glossary at the end. Would encourage young readers to think about all the trash they throw out during a week.
Fabulous collaboration between father and son, Peter and Paul Reynolds. I love the incorporation of STEAM and the manner in which the twins take charge and make a plan to help their family and school to Go Green! This will be a fantastic book for classroom teachers to use when talking about conservation and might lead to some wonderful projects to help their community.
The book tells how the twins, Sydney and Simon, discover that trash is endangering animals so they decide to investigate. They are very worried when they learn just how much rubbish is being disposed of as trash and set out to help encourage everyone to recycle, reduce and reuse - including writing a song about it. You’ll just have to read the story to find out what happens!
This is a beautifully illustrated, inspiring story that will hopefully help raise awareness of the impact of everyone’s rubbish on the environment. The characters are engaging and great role models. It is written in an easy to relate to, enjoyable manner with short chapters and superb pictures to enhance the understanding of readers but the vocabulary used makes it for more able readers. Whilst it is great as a story, it could also be used by parents and educators to inspire children to be more aware of how they can produce less rubbish and care for their environment. By the way, according to the blurb at the end of the story, the author and illustrator of this book are twins, too! Highly recommended!
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley too, for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Gotta love a Reynolds book! It wasn’t what I was expecting, and I’m curious to see what section it will go in at our library, but I still loved it. Incorporating tablets and STEAM will make it easy for kids to relate to and understand. This story will definitely inspire kids to go green.
