What a wealth of information - I did not know there were so many ways to make some. There is no reason now for not making some lovely handmade woollen socks. Have a look at the spiral method - no nasty turning heals and they look and fit nicely. There are seven ways to make socks - crochet, felting, dolly machine, using two circular needles, 3 different ways to make heels, knitting toe up or cuff down and the spiral methods. Wow. Some of the colours may not appeal but the sock shapes and fit certainly are good from short, long and ankle there are choices aplenty. I hardest part will be which to start of with.
