A Note From the Publisher

Jackie Ashenden has been writing fiction since she was eleven years old. Mild mannered fantasy/SF/pseudo-literary writer by day, obsessive romance writer by night, she used to balance her writing with the more serious job of librarianship until a chance meeting with another romance writer prompted her to throw off the shackles of her day job and devote herself to the true love of her heart – writing romance. She particularly likes to write dark, emotional stories with alpha heroes who’ve just got the world to their liking only to have it blown wide apart by their kick-ass heroines.

She lives in Auckland, New Zealand with her husband, the inimitable Dr. Jax, two kids, two cats and two rats. When she’s not torturing alpha males and their stroppy heroines, she can be found drinking chocolate martinis, reading anything she can lay her hands on, posting random crap on her blog, or being forced to go mountain biking with her husband.

Zakir kidnapped Felicity....in error...stick with the book though, it's a wonderful romance. He is stuck in his own (family) nightmare, as is Felicity. It's been a long time since I stayed up to finish a book. I finished this at 1.25am. It's sexy, it's super romantic and I loved the fantasy of it all. Highly recommended reading

Jackie Ashenden is one of my favorite authors. I love this book Nothing better than a sheikh kidnapping an unwilling women, who then falls in love.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley from Tule Publishing for an honest review. This is part of the "International Bad Boys" series. I haven't really found them connected, just a theme of sorts. This one is slightly tied to a previous one in this group also by Jackie Ashenden, Never Refuse a Sheikh. In this book, the hero, Zakir, bungles a kidnapping of the heroine from that book and instead gets a very feisty red-headed westerner, Felicity. I've been really into the Nine Circles series and wanted to try something else by Ms. Ashenden. Sheikh books have never really been my thing until I started reading ones by Elizabeth Lennox. I think I had that easy going standard style in mind when I started this. Yeah, I was wrong, this was much edgier.

This book starts off fast and you're immediately drawn into a storyline full of action. Although the timeframe they spend together is short, these two do not have a case of love at first sight-is. In fact, he's pretty terrible and doesn't seem to find her attractive in the least. It was kind of weird imagining her only wearing basketball hightop shoes while they had sex for the first time. Special Edition Air Jordans? Zakir is 20 steps beyond alpha. While we eventually learn how protective and honorable he is, he initially comes off as primal, aggressive, and you can tell he's battling himself. He's not the type of guy who's going to have a chihuahua named Stan or talk about unicorns and rainbows to a Sunday school group.

This totally did not happen, but I thought the plot was actually going to be much more nefarious. I had poor Jamal killing Zakir's brother and wife to make it look like a murder/suicide. He really didn't have the warm fuzzies for Felicity so I thought he was going to try to off her and continue to try to control the country through manipulating Zakir. Poor Jamal and poor me for even thinking of that.

Overall, this was a much edgier book with unexpected depths to it. It starts off a bit dark and you can't figure out how they will ever get over that small kidnapping/forcing her to marry him issue, but softens as they (and we) learn more about each other.

A lovely book to escape into, well written with great plot and characters! Take one fast tracked, very intelligent and determined young business woman to visit a sheikhdom and help them develop their internet capability through her innovative tech start-up then add in a rival ruling sheikh to kidnap her and you know you’re in for an adventure. Make the female petite, feisty and attractive whilst the sheikh is the epitome of tall, dark, brooding and handsome then give them both emotional trauma in their backgrounds and things just keep getting better - especially when he kidnaps her by mistake!

This is the third book by this author in this “sexy sheikhs” series and whilst each is a standalone book, characters from an earlier book play a fleeting role in this one - Felicity Cartwright is on her way to see the sheikh of Al-Harah who is soon to marry a bedhouin princess, Safira, when Zakir ibn Rashiq Al-Nazari, ruling sheikh of Al-Shakhra, kidnaps her. He actually thought he would be capturing the princess but the feisty American proves to be an attraction he finds hard to resist!

This series just keeps getting better! The alpha males are hotter, the feisty females are certainly no easy push over and the author’s writing is more engaging. Definitely a good book to curl up with when you want to read a Middle Eastern romance where the attraction is almost as hot as the noon desert sun.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.

The last thing Felicity Cartwright worried about when she left for her business trip to Al-Harah was being kidnapped. Why would anyone want her? Being the super geek founder of an upstart tech company should have kept her off everyone's radar. When she finds herself kidnapped by Sheikh Zakir ibn Rashiq Al-Nazari of Al-Shakhra, not only kidnapped but told she was her bride prize and they would marry she can't believe it! Well really, who would? But he is serious, deadly serious!!

This is a great story. Sexy, fun, and a quick read that is completely entertaining. You'll want to grab this one and see how the Sheikh and the geek really get to know each other. I recommend it.

There's nothing like a sexy sheikh book to throw you into the fantasy world of the devilishly handsome leader of a country who has kidnapped you and plans to make you his bride. That's the case here with Jackie's third Sheikh story (all standalone), telling the story of Zakir and Felicity. He mistakenly kidnaps her thinking the car she is in contains the bride to be of a neighbouring sheikh, a woman who understands the politics and needs of a country and can be a stabilizing influence for his people. Following a traditional custom, she is to be his bride prize. Instead he gets tech wiz Felicity who's there to present her new software that will radically improve the lives of the people in the desert country, and never imagines she'd be taken by a neighbouring sheikh to his home and forced into a marriage she would never agree to. He holds her life or death in his hands - but oh, those hands! Suddenly feeling an intense sexual attraction towards her kidnapper, Felicity still intends to bargain for her freedom but resistance might be futile...

I really enjoyed this one, in particular because both characters were very appealing. Zakir is the consummate leader - taking over the kingdom due to tragic circumstances and needing to secure a bride to stabilize the factions in his country who would oppose his rule. Emotion isn't part of his decisions, just cold hard reality. He needs an heir, and he needs a woman to provide that for him. He doesn't count on his feelings for Felicity being so strong right from the first time she defies him, but the more she fights back, the more intrigued he is by her. Felicity is a strong and feisty woman, who isn't going to take this whole fiasco lying down. She has a company and people who depend on her, and being thrown back into the middle ages with this handsome but infuriating man is not something she every imagined would happen to her. At the same time though, a part of her is thrilled when she's around him, not only lighting her up sexually but also knowing that he wants her fills a space in her heart that she'd long ago decided she didn't need. It's a rocky ride for sure, and their sexual compatibility isn't going to be enough to build a future on. Of course eventually Zakir is going to let her go (because underneath it all, he's still a good guy) and Felicity is going to have to decide if that's really what she wants after all. Lots of fun with this one, a great sexy read. 4.5 stars.

I really like Jackie Ashenden's writing. This is a good book for a quick escape. It is well written with great characters and a great plot. Felicity is a very intelligent, determined young business woman on her way to visit a neighboring sheikh in order to help his country develop their internet capability through her new tech application. While on her way a rival ruling sheikh kidnaps her and the adventure begins. Felicity is petite, feisty and attractive while Zakir is the epitome of tall, dark, brooding and handsome. They both have emotional issues stemming from their backgrounds that keep them from letting their emotions show. There is great chemistry between the two and it makes for a good read.

Felicity and Zakir’s romance is fast paced, and passion filled. Zakir has lead a raid into his neighboring country to kidnap Princess Safira. Yes, she is to be wed to the Sheikh of Al-Harrah but since it is rumored she has refused him, by tradition, Zakir can swoop in and grab the Princess as his bride prize thereby angering one Sheikh and his kingdom and winning the favor of his people by bring them a Queen worthy of reigning at his side. The fact that the Princess may not want to marry him either is totally beside the point.

When Felicity made the trip to Al-Harrah to close a deal that would bring the country fast, inexpensive and reliable internet service – in a manner which she had invented, she believed this was the deal to take her company over the top. At twenty-four years of age, a genius, and the head of her own company, Felicity was at the top of her game. Admittedly she might have been a bit distracted on the ride to the palace, yet there was no mistaking the danger when armed men began striding toward her trapped vehicle and a powerful, handsome man entered with the intention of taking her away with him.

Unfortunately for Zakir, this fiery red-head was definitely not Princess Safira. She would be better guarded from now on and his one chance has slipped through his fingers. However, one bride prize is the same as another and this young woman would become his Queen in short order. He was the Sheikh and his word was law… trouble is no one explained that to Felicity.

I enjoyed Never Resist A Sheikh very much. It is a love story ripe with the sights, scents and traditions of an ancient kingdom – one with very little to do with the modern world. Felicity was a delightful heroine. Stubborn even when scared, brave when she should have backed down and willing to settle for nothing less than Zakir’s heart, Felicity was a worthy opponent for our Sheikh. Zakir is handsome, sexy, arrogant with an inner strength that most men would envy. He has come to reign after the bloodbath that his brother and his new bride died in. He has no illusions about love, considers it nonexistent for him. His country needs a Queen, one day he will need an heir – it’s simple. What he needs he takes without thought to the consequences for anyone – including himself. It was a delight to watch this strong man fall to the power of a woman’s love.

I would highly recommend Never Resist A Sheikh for any romance reader. It is a passionate glimpse into a world culture that most Westerners will never see. A hero and heroine who truly deserve each other, it just might take them a little time to realize that. Indulge and enjoy.

Felicity, geek, has arrived in Al-Harahan on business never did she think she would be kidnapped by Zakir, the ruling sheikh. He needs to find a bride, a bride prize, that he does not love. Felicity is told that she can not resist, she fights all the way until their chemistry takes over. When she opens her heart, can Zakir open his heart for her.

This book was a page turner from the very beginning. Loved how they both had broken pasts that needed to be healed. Both very strong people.

I'm so glad that I discovered Jackie Ashenden books! Love them all and wish I had my own Sheikh. This one does not disappoint -- we've got a strong alpha male and a headstrong, determined female but they manage to come together enough for a HEA.

I felt a lot of sympathy for both characters, seeing that they both Felicity and Zakir had disturbed childhoods and disappointing parents in common amongst other things. Each is fiercely loyal to those under their care, equally concerned about their future and well being in spite of being on polar opposites of each other. Zakir is the epitome of control and Felicity the embodiment of provocation. But the way they balance each other out is quite amusing and warms the heart at the same time.

Of all the Sheikh stories I found this one to be the sweetest of them all.

I just finished reading, in one sitting, Never Resist a Sheikh by Jackie Ashenden. Ms. Ashenden has made me a fan of sheikh books. Yes, the story was pure fantasy but what a wonderful, sexy, compelling fantasy! I loved it. I know I read romance as escapist fiction and the promise of a happily ever after in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. Ms. Ashenden’s story delivered on all those levels.
The heroine was a perfect mixture of feisty and sexy, a perfect foil for the powerful Alpha warrior sheikh. The author did a wonderful job of showing the hero’s transformation is a believable way. I will be looking for more books in Jackie Ashenden’s sheikh series.

Way back when I used to regularly read Harlequin romances, the handsome Sheikh and the feisty American woman was one of my favorite themes. I am so happy to say that Jackie Ashenden has renewed my interest with her fresh take on the theme. The contrast of cultures, morals, beliefs, and customs is made so much more interesting by the infusion of passion and romance. Ms. Ashenden writes strong characters, and the chemistry between the hero and heroine is obvious from the beginning. Her settings were beautifully detailed, and the story itself contains passion and pageantry. I definitely recommend this book.

Okay…truth be told…I read a Sheikh book here and there during my Harly days…But to be clear, my mama (grandmother) loved her Harly’s (Harlequin Romances with the white cover and circle photo). The appeal is of course the unknown, the exotic and their famous wealth.

Well…this story was of course about a king, a Sheikh, but from a country that had just opened to the world, which made me scratch my head that Zakir was so open minded. As a soldier and a warrior for his people, he was the second son, the spare to the heir. But mental health issues plagued his brother and ultimately brought him down. Now as the Sheikh, Zakir needs a wife and needs some heirs of his own. Enter Felicity…well, she didn’t so much as enter as be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I can’t help but feel I have read this story line before…perhaps a take on one of the hundreds of Harly’s I read.

This book had just enough steam, good dialogue and Zakir sounded pretty smexy when we got some glimps of him. All in all, a fun read and believe it or not, I one clicked to get the rest of the Sheikhs I could never resist, refuse or seduce! Enjoy!

Felicity Cartwright's trip to Al-Harah isn't going as expected. Her car is attacked and she's kidnapped by a massively built man. Who is he and why does he want her? Zakir, the ruling sheikh of Al-Shakhra, is stunned when he sees her. She isn't the bride prize he wanted to claim. What is he going to do with this small, delicate woman? The battle of wills between Felicity and Zakir drew me into their story. I loved that she wasn't afraid to stand up to this dark warrior. The attraction between them slowly grows as the spend time together, but he's afraid to give into love. He saw how his brother was overwhelmed by his love. He's determined to never let a woman into his heart. The beauty of the wild and untamed country is the perfect background for romance and the dialogue highlights the tension and the chemistry between them. I couldn't put this book down. I was drawn to the characters and their story. Never Resist a Sheikh is filled with passion, desire and excitement. Jackie Ashenden added a worthy hero to The International Bad Boys series.

A passionate and exciting story.

Felicity Cartwright had a meeting planned that would help Al-Harah by bringing them the technology their country needed. By getting this job, it would keep her company afloat. What Felicity didn't expect was to be kidnapped by a stubborn sheikh from a neighboring country because he needed to get married.

Zakir ibn Rashiq Al-Nazari, ruling sheikh of Al-Shakhra thought the SUV they planned to ambush carried Princess Safira. He wanted her to be his wife and he would kidnap her if necessary. But what he found in the car was an ill-mannered American woman, not the princess he was seeking. Once Zakir's veil slipped from his face and Felicity saw his him, he knew he couldn't let her go. She could identify him as the attacker.

He’d come for the sleek, beautiful lioness that was Princess Safira, hoping to take her back to Al-Shakhra and make her his sheikha. And, instead, in place of a lioness, he’d gotten a...chihuahua.

This man. He was to blame. He’d kidnapped her, drugged her, taken her out of the country, and now he was getting in the way of her company’s last hope.

Can Zakir convince Felicity to be his "bride prize" or will she run from him the first chance she gets?

The passion between Zakir and Felicity was very intense and I enjoyed their chemistry. The concept of falling in love with someone who kidnapped you is a little hard for me to believe, but the author made it work out really well. It kept everything interesting.

Felicity is in Al-Harah on business and on the way from the airport she is kidnapped by King Zakir Rashid Al-Nazari, ruling Sheikh of Al-Shakhra. Zakir planned to kidnap Princess Safira to make her his queen to win his people over. And now he has ended up with a westerner , Felicity. I really enjoyed this book. Felicity was a force to reckon with :). She was a strong and brave not backing down even in face of danger. The chemistry between them was hot. And the author really spun a wonderful story.

I am really enjoying these International Bad Boy books, even though I do not have much experience reading romances based in the Middle East. I received a copy of Never Resist a Sheikh through NetGalley. Never Resist a Sheikh is the story of Zakir who is the King or Sheikh of one of the countries that abuts the countries in the two other Never books. Zakir is struggling with a family history of mental illness and extreme jealousy by his brother and father and does not trust his own judgment. He has never been in love and has kept to himself as he tries to bring his country into the present when it comes to technology and infrastructure, but, he needs a wife and heirs. He decides to get a wife through an ancient process called brideprize and sneaks into the next country with the intention of grabbing the bride of his choice. He gets Felicity who is a strong-willed, brilliant and beautiful American. Never Resist a Sheikh is the story of Zakir forcing his will for his country and people on an unsuspecting American woman and the story turns into so much more. I have to say that despite the fact that this is a romance I could not fathom this working out. Despite thinking, this cannot possibly be a romantic story with a happily ever after it turns exactly into that story. I went from hoping she escaped to hoping somehow they worked through all of the pitfalls inherent in this situation, least of which was getting the approval of his people even if initially he did not think he needed Felicity's approval. It turns into a story where you are cheering for someone you think has no redeemable qualities which is not an easy thing to write.

Sultry, sensuous and sexy, Never Resist A Sheikh is as hot as the desert in which a large part of the book is set. Felicity is a petite American with a big personality, courage aplenty and a genius intellect. She's gone to Al Harah to negotiate a business deal for her fledgeling software company Red Star, and she's none too pleased to find herself kidnapped as a bride prize by the sheikh of neighbouring Al Shakra.
Zakir didn't mean to kidnap Felicity. He was looking for a princess, not a feisty American, but now he has her he figures she'll make a suitable replacement. He's a warrior, who never expected to have to rule his country and is only n the throne because of his brother's death. He's strong and ruthless, yet he truly cares for his country and his people and wants to modernise infrastructure to Ke life better and easier for them. Zakir doesn't think he can love, and he's reluctant to let it happen, seeing it as a sign of weakness.
I enjoyed this book, loved the setting both within the cool stone walls of the palace and in the hot, exotic desert oasis. The storyline flowed nicely and I liked the characters. Recommended!

Felicity's pride and joy was her tech company Red Star. Al Harah was interested in a piece of software she had created. The Al Harahan government was a little suspicious of her as Red Star was new and she was young and now Zakirm has selected her to be his queen.

Felicity was a certified genius. I absolutely loved this story, Felicity's courage and stubbornness and her innocence in the way of sex and love. Zakirm is afraid to feel and love, his journey full of ups and downs, as was Felicity's.

The plot and overall story were excellent. The characters were great. It was a great romance. I highly recommend.

Move over Harlequin Sheikhs. Jackie Ashenden's Sheikhs are in a bad boy category of their own.

Felicity Cartwright was in Al-Harah to present her company's proposal to Sheikh Altair when she was taken from the car she was riding in in a bride game. Sheikh Zakir thought Princess Safira was in the car and was surprised when he got American Felicity. Zakir needs a wife and heirs and Felicity will do.

Zakir is a soldier that never thought he would be Sheikh until his brother killed his bride then himself in a fit of madness. He is a man that is a stranger to love. Felicity is a genius. At twenty-four she has started her own company. Her parents are people that never should have reproduced. Her dad wanted a boy and her mother wanted to make her dad happy. When Felicity was not the perfect debutante and didn't find the perfect son-in-law, her parents got a divorce. Zakir likes Felicity's fearlessness and how she will not back down from him.

The only thing that would have made this novel better was Felicity introducing Zakir, the king of his own country to her parents.

I really liked this sexy story about Felicity, a feisty American business woman and Zakir, the handsome commanding Sheikh, who kidnaps her. She just wants to get back to her life and her business but for the sake of his country, he needs a wife right away and isn't about to let her go. They didn't count on the explosive chemistry between them. This book has steamy sex and great romance.

Jackie Ashenden delivers action from the start of Never Resist a Sheikh. From the moment Felicity and Zakir meet, there are sparks. I couldn't wait to see how the match up between the tough, soldier-turned-sheikh and the independent business woman was going to develop. Ashenden pens a fast paced, passionate tale with a beautifully exotic setting.

I have a weakness for sheikh stories. They are my guilty pleasure. So, when I got my hands on this one, I was a tad bit excited. And it didn't disappoint.

Sheikh Zakir was such a dominant male. He's taken over ruling his country after his brother's death. His word is law. And he needs a wife. Major goes to his neighboring country intending to kidnap the princess who is refusing to marry that country's sheikh. However, he ends up kidnapping Felecity Cartwright, an American tech genius, that Zakir can not resist. What follows is a whirlwind romance that results in Zakir sending Felecity back to the US instead of marrying her because he's afraid of loving her.

I loved that Zakir finally went to LA to admit his feelings for Felecity in hopes that she'd take him back. And their nights in the desert were exactly what I'm hoping I'll get when I get kidnapped by a sheikh as a bride prize ;)

Never Resist a Sheikh by Jackie Ashenden is part of the International Bad Boys. I have had trouble connecting with some of the books in this series. Generally, I am not a sheik kind of reader but this book was a wonderful surprise. Yes, I still think that true leaders in these countries often have no respect for women but I couldn’t help myself, I liked Zakir. He really thought it was his bad luck to kidnap the wrong woman but she turned out to be woman most right.

It was a fun read. Felicity, with her I-can-run-with-the-big-dogs attitude and Zakir, a new leader of a potentially unstable country, charmed me. I was rooting for them with so many obstacles against them. Never Resist a Sheikh is a real plus addition for International Bad Boys series

The publisher through Net Galley provided a copy.

Enjoyed Zakir and Felicity' s love story. I didn't like Zakir's arrogance. He kidnapped her and expected her to accept it. I liked that Felicity stood up to him and saw the man behind the arrogance. Secrets are revealed and they learn to embrace and accept their love for each other. Recommended read.

I love these International Bad Boys quite a bit that these various authors have come together and write about in this Tule Publishing series. They're not exactly connected as a series normally is, but the theme is there.

Felicity is bold and Zakir is strong and dominant. Their story was explosive and a lot of fun to read. Never a dull moment when a sheikh is involved.

The only other thing I'd like to mention to future readers is to remember this is a fiction romance novel so think outside the box when you read it :)
