Description

Mystery lovers have descended on Pine Hills for this year’s book club competition, to be held at Krissy Hancock’s bookstore café. But the killer in their midst seems determined to outwit all the armchair sleuths—and send Krissy to the remainder bin forever.

Just before two dueling book clubs are set to square off at Death by Coffee, one of the competitors turns up dead—bludgeoned with the silver teapot that was to serve as the prize. Suspicion immediately falls on Krissy, who was seen skulking around town in dark clothes on the night of the murder.

To clear her name and find the real killer, Krissy turns to an old flame, Officer Paul Dalton. But even Paul can’t ignore the trail of evidence that seems to point in her direction. And with Krissy’s personal nemesis, Officer John Buchannan, working overtime to pin the murder on her, it will take an amazing feat of detective work to close the book for good on an elusive killer. . .

Little cozy mysteries are my go too books when I want to read something light. This books falls into this category. This is the 2nd book in a series and I found it very entertaining. The characters are being developed and there really isn't one that I don't like. Main character is very likeable and there is plenty of room to grow. The book is a great whodunit.

Enjoyed the book although it often referred to previous events, maybe from an earlier book, which was a bit o bit of a pain. It was a quirky murder mystery a cross between Miss Marple & Midsummer Murders. Overall a good read

I enjoyed this book so much that I stayed up way too late last night to finish it. I only wish that Death By Coffee was a real place in my neighborhood, it would be so much fun to be able to hang out there. Krissy with her penchant for getting involved in dangerous situations, is a great new addition to the cozy mystery genre and I hope to join her on many more of her adventures.

It’s time for the annual Pine Hill book club competition and mystery lovers are coming in droves. This year’s competition will be held at Krissy Hancock’s bookstore cafe, but this year all will not go according to plan. Just before the competition is set to begin, one of the competitors is found dead in Death by Coffee, bludgeoned by the silver teapot that was supposed to be the trophy for the winning team. Because Krissy was seen in the area at the time of the murder, she’s the prime suspect. She asks friend and old boyfriend, cop Paul Dalton to help her clear her name, but even Paul has to admit that all evidence points at Krissy, and with cop Paul Buchannan, the guy who can’t stand her, eager to send her up the river, Krissy is in some serious hot water. Krissy is a fun. savvy, snarky heroine that readers will love

This was a fun, cute cozy mystery. Krissy and company were enjoyable to read about and made me giggle at parts. I wish that the mystery was more at the forefront, I felt more time was spent on Krissy's personal life/man problems. I personally prefer Paul to Will, but I have to wait till October 2016 to read Pumpkin Spiced to Death! I definitely recommend the series. Thank you to NetGalley for a chance to read and review the book.

A bookstore, a cat who can be a pain in the rear, a possible love interest. Just what you are looking for in a cozy read

A quirky light mystery from Alex Erikson. This is the first one I have read although this was not really a problem. It is a humorous and witty read. Krissy, is the amateur sleuth in this story although there is a major focus on her chaotic personal life. She owns the bookstore cafe "Death by Coffee".

An enthusiastic Rita has organised meetings of the Pine Hills bookclub and the bookclub competition at the cafe. A rival bookclub member is murdered and Krissy is the last person seen leaving the scene of the crime. As she becomes a suspect, she decides to investigate.

The book is well plotted with twists. There is an interesting range of characters. Read this mystery, you will enjoy it. Thanks to Kensington, the publishers for a ebook copy of the book via netgalley.

I thoroughly enjoyed this second edition to the Bookstore Café Mystery series and I am anxiously waiting for the third book with an expected publication date this coming year.

The main character is so realistic I almost feel as if I know her. I'd definitely enjoy having her as a friend. When she is blamed for the death of a member of a book club who was killed in her café, she sets out to find the real murderer. She makes quite a few mistakes along the way, and looks in the wrong place for the murderer, but eventually she figures it all out.

This is a fun series. While there is a murder, the story is light enough to make for an enjoyable book to read.

Alex Erickson serves up murder and mayhem in Death by Tea, the delectable sequel to Death by Coffee.

Krissy's success in solving a murder has brought attention and business to their bookshop/cafe, Death by Coffee. Members of the Pine Hills book club and the opposing team from Cherry Valley, have arranged to hold their meetings at Death by Coffee. The clubs compete each year for a silver teapot, and they take the competition very seriously. When the newest member of the Cherry Valley team, David is found dead in Death by Coffee, suspicion immediately falls on Krissy - despite lack of motive.

Office Buchannan is going out of his way to harass her, and Paul is avoiding her, offering neither comfort nor assistance. The police leave her home a ransacked mess, and her nosy neighbor is spying on her and spreading rumors. The only person Krissy can rely on is herself. Krissy has to clear her own name, before she is arrested for a murder that she didn't commit.

It is easy to empathize with Krissy and all that she suffers through. Being a murder suspect is a daunting experience. Her cat Misfit's antics, despite being destructive, are welcome comic relief.

Death by Tea is an engrossing cozy, filled with a cast of quirky suspects and a charming, believable lead. Readers can't help but root for Krissy as she struggles to uncover the truth.

I highly recommend Death by Tea to anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries.
