Mitch Holden had lived in big cities, played professional sports, was now a high school coach so he thought he had seen it all. How far from the truth was that because he saw a beautiful lady getting out of a car in Marietta wearing her wedding dress and boots. When he offered to help her, he fell in love instantly with her. The problem was would she feel the same way about him, especially after he would have to reveal his secret?
Emma McGregor moved from Scotland to the US several years earlier to be with the man she thought was Mr Right. He ended up being Mr Wrong after they received news she could never get pregnant again. The answer to get away from it all...getting in her car and driving for hours until she stopped. She just wasn't expecting to be sprinkled with the magic dust of not just Christmas but also Marietta itself.
Scarlet Wilson has written another winning romance novel which brings us to this magical town of Marietta, Montana. This might sound weird but it was a simple book, that it did not have a complicated story line so you were able to enjoy it more. This is yet another book to add to your list of must reads.
I received an ARC to give an honest review with no monetary benefit.
A nice read to get you in the mood for the Christmas season. I love the setting of Marietta, couldn't be more perfect for a Christmas town. The pairing of the two lead characters with similar issues made for a 'storybook' ending.
Very sweet holiday romance. I liked returning to Marietta for another story.
So this guy has no problem dumping her, but dumping after the wedding and her major surgery will be better?
"Tuck shops" at school are the best.
I wish movie theaters still had intermissions.
I like how enthusiastic she is.
This is making me hungry.
Some people suck. Poor Lacey.
Hope they have kids.
A sweet holiday read. This author is a new to read author for me and I'll definitely be reading again. Heart tugging moments keep you turning the pages.
As ever the Marietta holiday books deliver on festive romance.
A simple story of heartbreak, romance and Christmas. What was not to love.
A magical Christmas story.
After Emma McGregor calls off her wedding, she gets in her car and just drives. With no destination in mind, she ends up in the Christmas wonderland of Marietta Montana.
Mitch Holden, is intrigued by the woman in the wedding dress when he first meets her. He's never met a runaway bride before; specially one so beautiful. Since that day, he can't get her out of his mind.
Emma plans to stay in Marietta for only a few weeks, until she can decide what to do about her future. Mitch takes full advantage of the time he has with Emma. Showing her around town and introducing her to people brings them closer together. Emma never expected to fall for someone so fast, but is it enough to keep her in Marietta? And, what about her secret, will it scare off Mitch? As it turns out, Mitch has a secret of his own.
Marietta seems to be a special place for everyone who lives and visits there. It has its way of bringing people together and Emma and Mitch are no different. This was a wonderful happily ever after.
I'm always suspicious of American novels with Scottish characters; so often they manage to make them appear ridiculous. But not this one. The Runaway Christmas Bride is funny and enchanting, like the best kind of fairytale. It's just right for a cosy winter read. Too bad it's sunny and warm here in the north of Scotland in November!
The Runaway Christmas Bride is the story of a woman determined to experience the world. Faced with heartache and betrayal on what was supposed to be the happiness day of her life, Emma leaves everything behind for a fresh start. Where she ends up is a small town in Montana by the name of Marietta. There she learns a family is so much more than marriage, heritage and blood ties. A family are the people who are there for you no matter what. I loved this story because it fills the heart. I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Christmas miracles is something Marietta, Montana is known for. And a runaway bride, pffft.. seen that too. But this Christmas season the magic of this small town with its friendly atmosphere, open smiles and welcoming attitude are exactly what Emma needed – right now. Emma’s world had dropped out from under her feet these last weeks and today was the final blow. She got into her car and drove until she was tired enough to pull off at the next town which just happened to be Marietta, Montana.
Mitch has made Marietta his home now. After a professional injury ended his professional football career and that same injury changed the direction of his life, Mitch was content as a high school varsity football coach and counselor. Probably the absolute last thing he expected to be seeing right now was a woman in a wedding gown on the street. But it was obvious that she was in trouble so he did what he did best – be helpful and solve problems.
Mitch and Emma are both wounded souls. While Mitch has had some time to deal with his life changes, Emma hasn’t. And she is reeling right now. But she’s landed in the right small town where her troubles just might turn around – as much as they could. It will just take the right man and the kind of Christmas magic this town is known for.
The Runaway Christmas Bride is such a touching, emotional story. We understand very quickly what issues Emma and Mitch are dealing with and it seem obvious that they have met exactly the one other person who would understand their pain completely. Their romance is fun, charming and lighthearted.
From Miracle Lake to Chris Kringles’ magic glitter home baked cookies, this is a magical Christmas romance that Marietta, Montana pulls off so well. Come for a visit with old friends and make some new ones as well. The charm of this story is simply perfect for Christmas reading. And if you hear bells ringing, remember Clarence. :)
*I received an e-ARC of The Runaway Christmas Bride from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
I loved this one! Emma McGregor has a a very bad time of late. First she suffered a life changing health problem then on the day of her wedding she overhears her fiancee confiding that he really doesn't want to marry her. His plan is to go ahead with the ceremony then dump her in a few months. Definitely not the way to start out a new life. One long car drive later she finds herself in Marietta. In need of a job and a place to stay. Luckily for her she stumbles upon the very helpful Mitch Holden and her life will never be the same.
This is a fun, light, hope filled read that will definitely cheer your day. I highly recommend it.
This book makes me want to move to Marietta Montana. Emma has the worse day of her life, which was suppose to be the happiest. She gets in her car and drives, ending up in Marietta. The town welcomes her with open hearts, including newcomer, varsity coach, Mitch. They both have secrets from their past.
Loved these characters and the rest of the town of Marietta. It shows you just need to believe in yourself. A little Christmas magic works for everyone.

This was one of those stories just makes you really smile and laugh and had holiday cheer all over it. The characters of Mitch and Emma had that old fashioned meet cute at the start (granted Emma did steal that what with the wedding dress and hiking boots attire!) All American meets Scottish Lass should be the alternative title for this one but that nearly old fashioned courtship and that hesitation of approaching someone you like, you don't really read that a lot these days. Add the charm of good old small town Christmas celebration makes this book one of the most charming reads for the holidays.
The Runaway Christmas Bride is the first book that I have read by romance author Scarlet Wilson. She definitely knows how to write a good tale!
The Runaway Christmas Bride is set in Marietta, Montana which seems to be a magical place to spend Christmas this year. I was intrigued by hints of this story in the book, A Bramble House Christmas. And by a return visit to Marietta. I was not disappointed. The Runaway Christmas Bride is a romance with all the right ingredients...great story and well written. A fast read.
Be sure to enjoy this magical tale this Christmas season.
What a sweet, magical Christmas story. I just loved it. Marietta. Montana and it inhabitants out did themselves by being the very place Emma needed to land up in. I loved this spunky woman who did what needed to be done even when the groom-to-be could not. I love Mitch and wish every high school has man like that working there.
This story-line has a bit of the magical in it which is unusual for a Marietta story. Instead of feeling sappy it was loving and uplifting. It is well developed to be so short. Even though the ending happens quickly, it fit the rest of the story. Of all the bride stories, I fell in love with this one the most.
The publisher through Net Galley provided a copy.
An easy and enjoyable read, “The Runaway Christmas Bride” by Scarlet Wilson makes you believe in Christmas and love at first sight. It also makes you believe that Christmas miracles do happen and it does not have to be at 32nd Street.
On a snowy winter day, Emma McGregor found herself lost in Marietta, Montana after driving for hours away from her would-be groom. Still wearing her wedding dress, she met high school varsity coach Mitch Holden who kindly gave her directions.
And though Emma and Mitch were not ready for any kind of relationship at all, specially the committed kind, the attraction between them is so intense, they are actually having a hard time trying to avoid each other.
Christmas is magical and Marietta is doubly magical during the holiday season. Emma and Mitch might not be ready but their hearts are. Now, if only their minds will agree with their hearts, then they can have a very merry Christmas!
“The Runaway Christmas Bride” is a short and pleasurable read making it the perfect book to read on the plane when you’re traveling during the holidays.
“The Runaway Christmas Bride” is Rated M for Mature due to some sexual content.
This is a cute holiday romance. It's a sweet story and very quick read.

The Runaway Christmas Bride by Scarlet Wilson is a delightfully sweet romance.

I received this copy of The Runaway Christmas Bride from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
The Runaway Christmas Bride is delightful! Both our heroine Emma and hero Mitch are hiding very personal secrets. Set in my favourite American town, Marietta Montana, which is even more appealing at Christmas time, this is a story of healing and hope. Emma has fled from the church on her wedding day after overhearing her groom telling his best man that he's only marrying her out of pity and will divorce her a little way down the track. Emma had an ectopic pregnancy. In the process of miscarrying things went wrong and she can't have any more children. From the church, she jumps in her car and drives, eventually pulling into Marietta for a rest. She meets Mitch almost immediately snd he suggests she stay the night at The Graf. Of course she's enveloped in kindness as soon as she gets there and the kindness continues the next day when she moves to Bramble House. Before long she's working at The Graf and being absorbed into the town.
Mitch was a pro footballer until a severe injury forced his retirement. He's now working at Marietta High School as their coach and guidance counsellor. He hasn't told anyone that as a result of his injury he can't have children and while he dates, he breaks things off before they get serious in order to preserve the secret and save himself from facing the pity or rejection he's sure is waiting for him. The thing is, as soon as he meets Emma he can't het her out of his mind. Watching Mitch and Emma fall in love was touching. Both were frightened of revealing their secrets but the charm of a little Christmas magic eased their path. This story is heartfelt and warm and was a joy to read.
This is a lovely little story about a bride who runs when she realises her groom is only marrying her out of pity. Emma moved from Scotland to be with her fiancé but something happens that changes everything. Now she can't offer him the family he wants.
Of all places, Emma ends up in Marietta at the beginning of the Christmas Season. The first person she runs into is the very hunky high school varsity coach, Mitch. Mitch is gobsmacked at the sight of a bride on the run in the main street of Marietta. When she opens her mouth with her cute Scottish accent, he's a gonner.
Only trouble is, he's not the person to settle down and have a family with. He has his own secrets, the ones that brought him here a few years back. Both Emma and Mitch have their scars, literally, and the insecurities that go with them.
Overall I loved this story and the ending was very moving and dare I say, a teeny bit emotional. It moved fast, but with the Christmas events in the background offering a subtle magic, it wasn't too far fetched.
This isn't the usual Marietta fare. Emma is Scottish, running away from her wedding and she just happens to end up in Marietta where she meets Mitch. This is a sweet Christmas story but it is forgettable. Neither Mitch nor Emma stand out as truly interesting characters nor are their stories particularly memorable. It's Christmas in Marietta: sweet and snowy and all ends well.
Emma McGregor has called off her wedding after finding out he is only marrying her out of pity. she is in a world of pain so she ups and leaves and drives of in her car and. She has no destination in her mind at all, But she ends up in the most beautiful festive Christmas wonderland of Marietta Montana.
Mitch Holden, curiosity has gotten the better of him by this beautiful woman in a wedding dress from the moment he first meets her. He has never ever met a runaway bride especially one that is so beautiful. Since that very first moment that he first caught sight of her, he just cannot get this lady out of his mind.
Emma has decided to stay in Marietta but only for a short period of time, she needs to think about what she can do and how will her future turn out.
Mitch being the gentleman he is takes full advantage of the precious short time he has with Emma. He starts by showing her around his town and by introducing her to some people, slowly but surely this brings them ever so closer together.
Emma had never expected that she would find true love after her past doomed relationship, but will it be enough to keep her hear grounded and happy in Marietta? And, what about her big secret she has kept guarded closely to her chest, will this scare off Mitch? But what she doesn't no is Mitch has a secret of his very own.
Marietta is a very special place for everyone who has the pleasure of living as well as visiting there. This small town has a beautiful way of bringing it's people together, Just like Emma and Mitch. This book was a wonderful it melted my heart as well as my soul.
4 Out Of 5 Hearts From Cariad Books
A Marietta, Montana Christmas novella. Cute, short and sweet.
Fleeing a "pity" wedding in her wedding dress, a displaced Scot, Emma, finds herself smack dab of small town Marietta and into the arms of the local football coach, Mitch. He feels protective, she just wants to start over. He shows her the way and she appreciates it.
This is a novella so there is an element of rush but Emma and Mitch deliver with the sparks and the tinglies enough that you don't mind the suspension of belief (insta-love) and simply enjoy the roller-coaster ride.
A great short Christmas read.
