Description
The afterlife is not at all what Jack Duffy had expected. A failed suicide attempt launches him into a world that continually tests his ability to forgive and forget. With each new soul that he's entrusted to collect, he learns more about himself and his horrific decisions in life.
Through the tutelage of his befriended trainer, Jack will be compelled to make decision after decision about who gets to live and who will lose their soul. The Borrowed Souls concludes when Jack comes to a crossroads: continue on with his eternal commitment, or forfeit the tremendous power that has been bestowed upon him. Forever.

A Note From the Publisher
Paul began writing in 1998, shortly after the birth of his daughter. His first short story, Amy, was written in November of that year, but went unpublished until November of 2013. That was when Paul found the courage to publish.
Despite the 15 year lag, Paul has written many unpublished works throughout the years. Linear Shift, Part 1 (September/2013) was his first published story, and was the kick off to his four-part serial novel.
Aside from his Paul novel's, a number of his short stories have been included in various anthologies. His latest short story, Rememorations, has been included in The Immortality Chronicles - a Top 5 SF Anthology and Hot New Releases. Rememorations was also nominated for Best American Science Fiction.
When not writing, Paul is hard at work in the field of architecture. He has been in the field of design since 1992, and loves what he does. He lives with his wife and daughter in Littleton, Colorado, where he was born and raised.

Advance Praise
Borrowed Souls is a dark and mysterious story that will keep you turning the pages and looking over your shoulder! A highly unusual concept with plenty of action and twists. The story slowly reveals exactly what our hero has fallen into and the consequences of his actions. Good writing and plot are fantastic. - Cheri
... I could see the direction it was heading, but the very end was still a surprise. I could see this story as Twilight Zone episode. I enjoyed reading it. - Deb
... Paul Kohler spins a twisty tale that riveted me right through and left me thinking and wanting more. It has the feel of an Outer Limits or Tales of the Unexpected and I can see it being picked up for TV. There is an edge and underlying sadness that Mr Kohler is so good at and has stayed with me. - Gareth

I felt this book was a little slow to begin with but got stronger all the way through by the end I was hooked and didn't want it to end.

I absolutely loved this book. I began thinking it was going to be like all those other "got to earn your angel wings" type afterlife books and found it to be a quirky, interesting change from the norm. Loved the characters, the language, and the story line. Very good read.
