What happens on Valentine’s Night, stays on Valentine’s Night… That’s the rule.

After a trip home to bury his father, US photographer in London Caleb Landry finds himself stranded in a Soho bar full of boozy women brooding his way through his least favourite night of the year.

But when college art teacher Rosie Smith tries out the cheesiest pick-up line ever on him, Cal becomes captivated by this good girl with a filthy mind – especially when he discovers she has a V-Day allergy of her own. So he dares her to one smokin’ hot Valentine’s night hook-up with no questions asked, satisfaction guaranteed…

But when Valentine’s Night turns into the morning after, suddenly Rosie’s asking questions she shouldn’t, and putting Cal in danger of breaking his number one rule.

What happens on Valentine’s Night, stays on Valentine’s Night… That’s the rule.

A Note From the Publisher

USA Today Bestselling and RITA-nominated author Heidi Rice is married with two sons (which gives her rather too much of an insight into the male psyche). She also works as a film journalist and was born in Notting Hill in West London (before it became as chi-chi as it is in the film starring Hugh Grant). She now lives in Islington in North London – a stone’s throw away from where they shot Four Weddings and a Funeral… (She has asked Hugh to stop stalking her, but will he listen?!)

She loves her job because it involves sitting down at her computer each day and getting swept up in a world of high emotions, sensual excitement, funny feisty women, sexy tortured men and glamorous locations where laundry doesn’t exist … Not bad, eh.

Then she gets to turn off her computer and do chores (usually involving laundry).

One night of hot sex with a stranger is all Rosie wAnts. But one night turns into the next morning and much more.

Cal is the stereotypical hottie - a great body, good looking, he cooks and has so much charm and he's vulnerable. The sex scenes are well written, fairly graphic but enjoyable.
A quick easy romantic read. 3.5 *

It's been a while since I've read a sexy, sweet too, romance that I didn't want to put down. Cal and Rosie are both so likeable. Two real people who experience life's challenges, and work through them. I loved their story. And thanks for the wonderful epilogue. A must read

Sweet, hot short story. Great characters...could have been an entire book.

Not quite a novella, not quite a long story either. It was an easy read with hot chemistry between the two MCs. The author made kissing HOT. A one-night stand turns into a little more and it seemed plausible - a super sexy, sad H and a sexy but she doesn't know it h. The pacing was good - not too fast, not too slow. Solid character development and their individual backstories while not dwelled on made sense to how they were today.

When the H had his moment I hurt for the h but it also made sense. It was a realistic response that needed to occur for both MCs.

Overall enjoyed the book and the author's writing style. Would definitely read more from her.

There are a few editing issues with spacing (or lack of). Example: "on a" appears as "ona". Happens quite a bit throughout the story which made me pause a few times to re-read.

really enjoyed Daring the Bad Boy by Heidi Rice. For a short novella, it was a complete story with all the elements that make up a happily-ever-after. Cal and Rosie were well written complex characters with great chemistry. It was funny but had serious topics too. Great story! I'll read more from this author.

I have never been disappointed after picking a book by Heidi Rice and Daring the Bad Boy is no exception. It is a short read, but there's a solid storyline and character building. This book shows how one can find true love when or where they least expect! Cal & Rosie meet on Valentine's Day and this is their journey. This is a short hot and steamy read, but also heartwarming and romantic.

3.5 stars Determined to break her Valentine's Day curse, Rosie let's her friends and the daiquiris she's drinking give her enough courage to flirt with the hot, angry faced man at the bar. Cal's just dealt with some pretty rough family news and Valentine's Day is the worst day to be out, but a drink is needed if he's going to process the news he just received. When sweet Rosie approaches with a terrible pick up line, he knows he has to have her, even if it means taking care of her drunk and chasing her down for some impromptu sex later on. When she begins asking personal questions, Cal has to draw the line on their hooking up, even if she's been his best muse to date.

At 150ish pages, Daring the Bad Boy doesn't disappoint. Rosie is a sweet character, though her sexual maturity is that of a much younger woman. She believes she has a Valentine's Day Curse due to her ex breaking up with her a year ago to the day. With a bit of liquid courage however she finds herself flirting it up with leather jacket wearing Cal. Cal, while not really a bad boy, was a great character. He found himself using women as an escape, especially since his life revolves around his career as a photographer. I loved how he kept going back for Rosie and all her awkwardness. He's a character I could easily picture and actually enjoyed overall. I liked his dialogue the most, because he had such an artistic view of everything. Then there's the element of his past that comes into play in his life and in his short relationship with Rosie. Like the summary shared, Rosie asks the questions he doesn't want to be asked, but it brings out such a great side of him. I really enjoyed how this story flowed and wrapped up. It's sexy, there's some great smut, pretty funny, and it has a complete beginning, middle, and end with plenty of detail even at novella length.

Daring the Bad Boy is a short book about a one night stand between two people trying to be different people on that very special holiday for lovers, Valentine's Day. As Rosie and Cal engage in sexual congress that delivers all it promises they both find out the inconvenient truth. That what started out as pure lust can deepen into something more in a matter of just 24 hours. So if you don't like insta love and you don't like short novels that you might feel can't deliver on character or plot development, I think that Daring the Bad Boy is worth a shot for you to read. Despite the romantic cliches and the almost too common tropes, Ms. RIce has managed to craft two characters whose personality just begs for readers to get to know and to go on a journey very few people can go on in just 24 hours.

Daring the Bad Boy was very short in length, but it was amazingly complete as a story. What began as lust through a dare quickly became more, connecting two weary souls.

This is like the 3rd time I've read anything by Heidi Rice. And wow what a storyteller she is. I simply LOVED THIS BOOK. The story is fairly simple but the characters reach right in and grab you by the heart. I loved the vulnerability of Cal and Rosie, two people with seemingly nothing in common but so perfect together. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This was a good read! It was romantic with lots of heat and a bit of humour, too. Cal was swoon-worthy. Rosie is just sweet! You can't help but root for them from the get-go, even if you're anti-Valentines Day lol!

I liked that the author was able to balance the romance with serious issues without the novel becoming too cheesy.

I was given a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This is the first book I have read by Heidi Rice and I did not know what to expect. Suffice to say, she did not disappoint and “Daring the Bad Boy” turned out to be a pretty steamy romance that is almost a fairy tale.

But, hey… fairy tales do come true especially to college art teacher Rosie Smith who had already given up a happily ever after when she broke up with her boyfriend. So when hot and sexy Caleb Landry walked into the bar, Rosie was not interested other than an anonymous one night of torrid sex.

Well, she did not get the anonymous part. She figured out that Caleb is a famous American photographer living in London. She did not get the torrid sex either, thanks to falling asleep even before they can start anything after those hot kisses.

It was what happened the morning after that changed everything between Caleb and Rosie. And that was when Rosie thought that there is a happily ever after for her after all. But, is Caleb for it? This is when I say, RAFO (Read And Find Out).

“Daring the Bad Boy” is Rated M for Mature due to sexual content.

Loved this one. The romance between Cal and Rosie was wonderful. The story is funny, sexy, and sweet. Cal is dealing with his fathers death and Rosie is dealing with her Valentine's day allergy! So what starts as a one night stand bar hookup quickly turns into so much more. This is a quick fun read that I highly recommend.

Daring the Bad Boy makes for a hot, fun, quick Valentine's read. Rosie and Caleb are the perfect good girl, bad boy one night stand. I loved that for such a quick read, Rice packs in some heat and humor with a not to be missed bad boy romance. And that we get a holiday read set in one of my favorite cities, London, Daring the Bad Boy won't be the last Heidi Rice I read.

What a great story for Valentine's Day. Rosie has the V-day allergy and Cal is the perfect medicine to make her feel better. Will the one night stand turn into much more even though Cal does not believe in long term.

Great character envelopment, with sizzling chemistry in this short funny, sweet but sexy story that takes place in London. The perfect story to satisfy your romance desire.

Daring the Bad Boy by Heidi Rice is a quick Valentine read that is perfect for this time of year. Caleb and Rosie are supposed to be a nothing more than a daring flirt but it becomes something different as these two get to know each other. There are a few surprises in store for both of them as they look at their first impressions.

The story spans a year so it is mostly focused on the times that they are together. At times it is on the predictable side. Still it is a fun read with a happy ending.

Mysterious bad boy, who happens to be a world famous photographer, falls for a sweet college art professor, in this Valentine's romance. I loved that their romance started out with her girlfriends forcing her to talk to him, then wham they are making out. He is definitely a bad boy, with a heart of gold.

This book was perfect! Novellas can be so tricky, but this one nailed it. Beautifully developed and likable characters, perfect pacing of their story, just the right amount of angst to make your heart hiccup (but not throw the book at the wall), and then a perfect epilogue for a perfect HEA.

Caleb/Cal and Rosie both have their own insecurities. They meet a week after his father died and when he found out he wasn't his biological father. Rosie is afraid of giving her heart away too soon or to someone who doesn't feel the same way. Both think they're going into this as a one night stand, but quickly realize there's an instant and unspoken connection between them (physical and emotional). I thought it was interesting how Rosie accepted her feelings for him, but Cal is the one who ran away after his vulnerabilities showed.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley from Tule Publishing for an honest review.

This is a cute quick read. Rosie had her heart broken a year ago on Valentine’s Day. Her friends dared her to go up Caleb and ask him out. Caleb is dealing with some emotional issues and just does not want to be alone. When they meet it’s an instant attraction but their first night did not end up being what they expected. Once they start to see each other their goal for their relationship changes and they both decided to give their relationship a chance. Caleb leans to trust Rosie with his feelings and Rosie learns to give love a second chance. Recommended read.

This was a Valentine’s Day – love at first lay kind of story.

Cal and Rosie meet at a bar, both are going through their own inner drama.

Between meeting and the declaration of love the story takes place in the span of one week.

I would have rated the story higher if it had had more meat. Although, the epilogue did round it up nicely.

5 - "I think you're about to make my year..." Stars!

Daring the Bad Boy, was another absolute treat of a read from Heidi Rice, I am starting to realize that this is an author I need to pay more attention to going forwards.

IMAGE.

What starts out as a potential, sexy one-night Valentines dare, and one time hook-up between Photographer Cal Landry and Art teacher Rosie Smith, turns into so much more, after a bit of unplanned life modelling for him, and posing for naked photographs for her takes place. I loved Cal off the bat, and Rosie’s moxie even though initially Strawberry Daiquiri fuelled was a great match for him.

"If he doesn’t have a huge willy and know exactly what to do with it, I’ll eat my tits."

One night turns to two, and whereas Cal initially thinks he can keep their meetings strictly emotion free, something about Rosie and the way she sees him, has him opening up and revealing more about himself than he has ever done with a woman before.

Their hookup didn’t feel entirely casual anymore…

This was a quick, funny, sexy read. Plenty of plot to get your teeth into, and the drama was well balanced among the sexy-times to keep things interesting. Heidi seems to excel at this sort of read, and I cannot wait to read more from her soon.

"That wasn’t oral sex… It was more like oral nirvana."

When I started reading Sleepless In London, I pegged it as a book for twenty-somethings. I quite enjoyed the first chapter without wanting to write home about it, but chapter two hooked me and from there I couldn't put it down.
I loved the two lead characters, gorgeous Rosie with her beautiful cheekbones and her insecurities and stunning sensual Cal with his own set of insecurities just under the surface.
I loved the setting. Anything set in London has a head start when it comes to places I like to read about, and this book set in and around Soho did it nicely for me. Finally I loved the story of two people determined to have a one night stand with no strings attached, except that almost immediately they started to discover they wanted more. Heidi Rice writes a great short story and this book is no exception!
