Description
She could have had it all. Nancy was a
phenomenally gifted individual. She began life in the movies, but soon moved on
to a musical career. Her beauty was stunning, her intelligence unmatched, and
her accomplishments rivaled by few – her future was bright, or so it seemed. A
domineering mother, an abusive husband, and serious illnesses posed obstacles
Nancy could never overcome. After fleeing for her life from a hellish marriage
she finally had the freedom to begin to understand who she really was and what
she truly wanted out of life. It was then, though, that she began her decline
due to Alzheimer’s, a well-known and incurable condition, and aphasia, which we
know much less about. These two life-changing situations made Nancy vulnerable
to those who sought to take advantage of her diminished state. It seemed the
indignities would never end. And yet, Nancy ended up rising above it all and
living a life of dignity and grace. When it was her turn to leave this world
behind she exhibited her immense inner strength and awed her family with her
self-awareness and courage. Although she was never able to realize her full
potential, she provided a beautiful example of striving for excellence and
inner peace.
