Description
You've seen ads for online dating on television, in newspapers, and (naturally) on computer popups. The models are cute, handsome, young, or at least looking good for their age. But what REALLY happens when a computer semi-illiterate 60ish widow is prodded into this very 21st century form of dating---when the last time she dated was when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first men to walk on the moon? Getting back into dating makes her feel young. Actual dating makes her realize she is NOT sixteen anymore. What started out as entries on her Facebook page have expanded into detailed accounts of dating foibles and feats. Anyone who has embraced the concept of online dating, no matter at what age, will find her adventures laugh-out-loud funny and charming.

Humorous yet useful account about how to get used with the challenges of online dating in the senior years. Particularly loved the honest and funny writing. A good reading even many years until seniority.
Online dating - nowadays it's getting tough to run into someone who hasn't tried it, or met someone they have dated or married on it. I found my husband-to-be through online dating, and the stories I could share leading up to that meeting could make anyone laugh like crazy while shaking their heads thinking "I'm so glad that didn't happen to me." This book was the baby boomer's version of my experiences.
Becky Andersen makes for a great storyteller, as I found myself immediately sucked into her tale of how her husband passed away years ago, and her family encouraged her to give online dating a try. It reads as though she was sharing these stories over a meal or drinks. I found myself laughing (actually out loud) as she dove into the different dates, sharing with everyone her thoughts, fears and misunderstandings. Her horse riding experience had me gasping for breath I had laughed so hard. I also found myself cringing at some of the naive thoughts and actions she had taken that could have potentially put herself in danger (having a date meet her at her house because she thought he sounded nice, or getting in a date's car to go somewhere else after meeting at an agreed upon spot, etc). I also found myself scratching my head when she went on a date with a "jerk" but at the end was upset that he didn't shake her hand, hug her or try and kiss her. If you think he's a jerk then consider yourself lucky that he drove away!
For me to be that upset or concerned (or in tears of laughter) means that the author has drawn me into her world and made me care. For that reason, I recommend this book to anyone who has tried online dating, has thought about online dating, or who can appreciate stories of a woman's dating experiences. It just goes to show online dating is the same for many women, despite what age you may be. Some of the references may be lost on younger readers, but that is not a reason to overlook this hidden gem!
There are times when I am in the mood for an easy read: something sweet, to pass the time. This fully qualifies as an entertaining book: it's short, is funny as hell, and god damn if it's not contemporary.
This book is straight up hilarious. Definitely not what I expected but in a good way -- any age range would be seriously entertained by this!
I love books that are about online dating and dating in general. They are usually really funny and this was no different. Becky writes with such honesty that you can tell it’s based on the authors real experiences. I found the dates she ended up amusing and wanted to read more about them. I found Becky’s writing refreshing and engaging.. I found the ending a bit too rushed and was hoping for a bit more. I hope Becky writes more books about her dating antics and life in general
Thanks goes to net galley and the publishers for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book is really funny. All you have to do is read her thoughts on spandex, and you're hooked. As I was reading, I kept hoping that I would never end up dating guys like the ones she describes. There are some crazy people out there.
