This book had me laughing from the get go! There's nothing like an epic fail to make you laugh and some of these are hilariously bad. Fun book that many people would enjoy
Too hilarious to not read it during the lunch break! Wish it has more pictures!
Hilarious book! It's hard to believe that we live in a world where these things happen. Thanks to Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing an ARC!
You see these on the internet or in your email and always chuckle. This is a nice compilation of signs, situations and packages that will make you giggle at the mistakes. A great coffee table book or one to have in the john. This would make a cute stocking stuffer for someone with a sense of humour.
I laughed so hard I scared both cats.
If you're a fan of Damn You, Autocorrect and its ilk, this will be up your alley. Just instead of text messages, it's signage, so the mistakes are far bigger and more public.
What can I say? Sometimes you just need a good laugh.
A quick but competent gift book of the kind you'd never buy at full price from the stores when you see it in the run-up to Xmas – but never actually see ever again. A hefty dose of images of the incompetence of sign-writers and store labellers, and some bizarre situations and juxtapositions from real life. I'm not sure the caption comments added much, for it's the imagery that offers the joke a lot more successfully, and considering the one-note approach of the book it made me titter and scoff quite a lot. There's quite a bit to enjoy if you don't get your fill of this kind of thing online in the first place.
One of the more fun Internet memes. The book promises "never before seen" photos and for me, that was true. I will note that I've not been on any social media platform since I quit Facebook last fall.
I hardly STOPPED laughing as I went through the book. In my opinion, even if you've seen some of these before, it'll still be funny because some of the captions doubled or even tripled the funny of the picture.
You know you want to read this book. So read it!
Leave a copy in the guest bathroom so you can hear hooting when having dinner party. Always nice to have some ambient sound in the background.
Thank you to the publisher for providing me an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Humorous coffee table book will break the ice and stimulate giggles.
The witty captions beneath the photos on each page are what make this book special. Think the Darwin Awards laced with sarcastic wit.
Enjoyable but head-shakingly troubling... LOL
Hilarious! Similar to other social media photo collections such as Awkward Family Photos and Cake Wrecks. This books captures mistakes and mix ups galore in packaging, printing, painting and more. Photos are accompanied by suitably sarcastic remarks.
Super fun way to spend some time! I greatly enjoyed this collection of funny job fail pictures. Ms. Jenkin's commentary on each image added to the humor. Also, I am very familiar with the "you had one job!" meme, and these images were all new ones to me, so job well done with collecting unique pictures! This little book would make a great gift for your favorite funny person.
Book of funny pics and yes, totally read this while at work :)
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.
I don’t generally pick up humor books, I’m usually too busy at laughing at myself to read something intentionally funny. And then I saw this book, and I love looking at funny pictures as much as the next person, probably more, yet I have never come across a book like this one, mostly because it never occurred to me to look for it.
There are over 150 pictures with funny captions to while away the time on, which I did, at work, when I should have been working. I digress, funny book, I probably laughed harder at the mannequins and the Samsung ad that a normal person would, but I liked it!
Recommend for anyone that has a sense of humor, likes laughing or is addicted to meme’s.
Thank you to McMeel Publishing and Netgalley for a free digital copy of this book.
This is a fun collection of photos with humourous captions of the pretty well known kind of job related desasters like a staircase leading nowhere etc. It is a quick read/ flip through. I did enjoy it a lot, the dry comments coming with each photo were really well picked.
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
I just love these kind of books, and also these kind of photographs, that show that someone messed up big, or small (since some where just things like auto-correct on a phone), and they always make me laugh.
This one made me laugh even harder (and also my boyfriend as he loves these kind of photographs so he also read the book with me), not just because of the hilarious (and oh so bad) photographs, but also because of the delightful captions that accompany each photograph. Some might just be a few words, but they are still highly effective and I just rolled around laughing. :D
There were just a few photographs that I couldn't care much about. For example, the auto-correct one, or the one with the toilet paper. While the others seemed legit (for most), some (like the examples I listed) were just fake. And could have been staged.
But all in all, this was a laugh out loud book, and I would highly recommend it. Having a gloomy day? Or just need something funny? Then be sure to check this one out!
There is something perversely satisfying at seeing a collection of fails, especially if you are having a bad day...it is like a friendly reminder that everyone screws up, usually quite a lot.
The occasional misspellings and sign errors are as always quite funny, but the real giggle fests for me came from packaging mess ups, They can be the source of much cracking up.
This book was fun! Most of these pictures can be found around the internet, so I personally would not need to buy it, but for someone who does not live on imageboards it could be a fresh collection of humor.
Extremely quick, fun and humorous book. Highly recommended to all who like this sort of book.
I really shouldn't have read this in my cube during lunch hour. Not only was I trying to keep my cackling at a minimum (no luck), I was trying not to choke on my lunch (better luck). I honestly can't believe half of the photographed mistakes people make, but then again, I could. Later the same day I read this book, I went to the gym and noticed that a previous door had been removed which now was a blank wall. However they did not remove the pass reader that opened the door. And I didn't have my phone to take a photo!!!
Anyway, this book is great as a gift, coffee table book or just personal library to cheer you up with other's stupidity. It serves as a reminder "at least I didn't..."
I loved this book. We have all shared these types of photos of blunders on social media. Beverly Jenkins has complied a gallery of these funny photos along with a brief zinger or quip that made me laugh out loud. This is a quick read but one that you will be sharing with your co-workers or family members.
This was a cute little book of photos of errors on signs and published documents. If you really love this type of thing on the internet, you will like this book. It was hard to figure out if some of these were real or photoshopped.
Funny book of mishaps caught on film. Great coffee table book or gift book.
I must admit, I was cracking up the entire time I was "reading" this book! There were quite a few times that I actually had to look twice to see the goof up, I suppose because we are so trained to see it the right way.
This book would be an excellent coffee table book and a great ice breaker for a small group of people who don't know each other very well.

It was a quick read and gave me more than a few laughs. Pretty much was exactly what I expected it to be.
LOL! I loved reading this book. From all the misspellings to the things that were made upside down, sideways, and backwards this is definitely a book to lighten anyone's day. I see they also have a day-to-day calendar for next year, and I have that in my online shopping cart. Out of a possible 5 stars, I want to give the author 6 sarts! Great compilation.
You know, this was funny until I hit the Tom Hiddleston picture, and then I was crying.
And let's not forget old Spock in the mix, too.
Sure, it's not exactly 'original', and it's cutting and pasting from the interwebs, but who cares? It's funny, and that's what I needed today. A good, funny palate cleanser.
Good times.
This was so funny. It would definitely fit into my library. I can see it as a good bathroom book, a fun public library book, and for some reason, it sticks in my head that it would be a good book to take to a sick friend. I would love to have some of those pictures on stickers for my planner, just to make me laugh on down days.
After a tiring day at work of editing, reading stupid typos and upside-down signs, made me laugh so hard. This is hilariously funny and will be great on the coffee table.
This book is hilarious! Many of the photos are wonderful examples of why learning to spell truly is important....
This hilarious book that had me laughing out loud. I would recommend this as a coffee table book and would definitely buy it for a collection.
This book was so funny! I laughed hysterically until I had tears streaming down my face!
Entertaining look at how one simple job can be so easily messed up.
You Had One Job! is a funny collection of pictures from signs gone wrong. The pictures themselves are very humorous and the commentary is hilarious! If you're having a bad day, take a look at this book. It will give you a laugh!

A few days ago a friend posted a photo on Facebook of a row of bottles of vinegar with the labels upside down, of course captioning it with this title. Timing being everything, here’s a whole book on it.
It’s wonderful to see something that’s exactly as described: a collection of photos showing work failures that never should have happened. You could scour the internet for days and possibly see all these, but it would take a lot of work and time, so it’s much better having it in this convenient package, especially since they come with captions, mostly unnecessary but sometimes elevating the photo. And when the author says exactly what I would have, there’s a partly creepy, partly triumphant sensation running through me. Case in point: “Pay your parking fee before existing.” I went existential too.
The forward contains this gem: “We’re not judging; we’re just laughing at how hard you failed at doing your job. Okay, maybe we’re judging you a little, but you still got paid, right?”
Star Warts? Really?
Best one: A Halloween costume of Spock with Kirk’s face on the package. (The fact the author was able to knowingly joke about both Star Wars and Star Trek means she’s part of my tribe.)
4.5 pushed up to 5/5
You Had One Job by Beverly L. Jenkins is a collection off funny photographs illustrating epic fails. It is currently scheduled for release on July 12 2016. If someone hangs a stop sign upside down or paints crooked lines on a highway, count on someone else to snap a photo and post it online. You Had One Job! is a collection of hilarious pictures features job-related disasters and general ineptitude. All of these new, never-before-seen images are accompanied by witty captions.
You Had One Job is fun to flip through, and a great book to make you feel better about any mistakes you might have made on the job. My only issue with the book is that the internet and social media in particular is already flush with similar pictures. While these are new, they are not unexpected or amazingly more amusing than those I have already seen via blogs and Facebook. It is a fun, silly book- and worth a look or addition to a collection of coffee table books if you have one. However, there is nothing terribly new to notable here, mainly do to the sheer number of mistakes and pictures already out in the world.
You Had One Job! by Beverly L Jenkins was a good book that had moments of being hilarious but I did not find every single page funny. The photos are funny but what really made me laugh were the captions o that went along with the pictures. .
The pictures that made me laugh the most were the ones where someone really messed up and did not even realize it.. I recommend this book if you are looking for a funny book to take a look at for a bit.
I received an advance reader edition of this book from Andrews McMeel Publishing via NetGalley for the purpose of providing an honest review.
You Had One Job! by Beverly L. Jenkins is a compilation of humourous photographs from social media with amusing commentary. It was a bit of hit or miss with some of the photos being pretty funny (the inflatable monkey for example) and others just falling flat (like the mislabelled grocery store items). Many of the photos I had seen already on social media and after 146 pages it became more tedious than funny. I received a copy of this via Netgalley for an honest review.
This is a good present for someone who doesn’t mind a bit of slightly inappropriate humor. I think a lot of the problems arose from typos or poor translations, but they were still so funny! My favorite was the “blow jobs” sign... I think they meant “blow outs.” Oops!
Do you get a kick out of the "You had one job!" memes on the internet? Just google that phrase, and you'll turn up lots of silly pictures of goofed up jobs, sloppy projects, silly signs, and dumb mistakes. If you're not online, you can see a nice collection of these pictures in Beverly Jenkins's book, titled, appropriately enough, You Had One Job! Hilarious Pictures of Jobs Gone Horribly Wrong.
Some of these are pretty hilarious. A few are un-hilarious enough that I wondered why they made it into the book. Many of them make you think, What exactly what were they thinking? What's the story with that? These pictures don't stand head and shoulders above what you might find in a random internet search. But it's fun to have them all in one place. Jenkins does add a bit of commentary, employing a wry sense of humor and irony.
Besides being a fun little book you can keep on your coffee table or bedside to flip through for a laugh (no electricity or wi-fi needed), You Had One Job is sort of like a time capsule. Long after these web sites are shut down, after the click-bait links are dead, this book will preserve a little bit of what we laughed at in the second decade of the 21st century.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the complimentary electronic review copy!
