Yup...I read this.

It's a tad bit embarrassing to post this here, and on my Goodreads page, even though I've read and reviewed a few racier books than this. I think it's simply the acronym, MILF, that makes this embarrassing. That ... and the fact that I enjoyed some of the stories within, perhaps.

This is a collection of short, erotic stories featuring a slightly older (mature?) woman - usually one who isn't feeling particularly sexy but is shown to be otherwise. The acronym says it all (and if you don't know what MILF stands for already, then this is probably not a book for you).

I have previously written negatively about some books for what I deemed pornography - graphic sex for no reason other than to be graphic and to presumably stimulate the reader. So why don't I write the same about this book when some of the stories are <em>extremely</em> graphic? It's all about the expectation and the presentation. This is not billed as a romance. Having "MILF" in the title pretty much screams "EROTICA" and "SEX."

Novella-length ebooks are the hot new commodity. Publishers have come to realize that it is pretty inexpensive to produce (relatively speaking) and that they can provide a lot more content for an affordable price if they stick to shorter lengths and make them only e-available. This is one of those sorts of books. The collection features only eight short stories of varying quality, but presumably there is something for everyone (who likes the genre).

The first story, "Inspiration" by Andrew Robertson, was my favorite. It was generally believable and well-written and just a little bit steamy. "Supernatural Sperm Bank: Guaranteed Motherhood &amp; Love" by Trinity Blacio was interesting and off-beat and maybe better suited to a collection of erotic supernatural stories (oh yes ... there are those sorts of books!).

I recognize that the book I received was an Advanced Reader Copy and often this means it hasn't gone through a final editing process, but some of the stories within (but not all) were rife with typos. I found two of the stories to be poorly written and not at all believable, but otherwise the rest were decent enough and did exactly what they intended to do - provide a little steamy reading diversion.
