What a fun book for kids and tweens! I looked over this book and read through all of the pages prior to handing it over for my 12 year old to flip through. This book is filled with fun knowledge and tons of US facts from the beginning. Pictures flood the pages which is always a great feature to keep kids interested. I love all of the little tidbits spread throughout that specifically speak to the tween age group and relate to years of the past. Great book of facts!

I'm going to be homeschooling soon, so books like this are perfect. I really enjoyed this and thought this was really entertaining. I would use this book if I was able to. The illustrations, pictures, and colors were all very eye-catching. Everything was easy to understand. I would recommend this book. 5 out of 5 stars. A great overview of American history.

Awesome America is made by Time For Kids and is "Everything you ever wanted to know about the history, people and culture". Each chapter is broken down into 3 points - "Find Out" with a question that will be answered in the chapter. "Learn" with what you will learn by reading the chapter and "Take a Closer Look" with some other interesting tidbits related to the content of that chapter.

The book starts with the history of America - and talks about how Columbus was NOT the one to discover America. I know that every October there is a lot of controversy involved with "Columbus Day" and I liked that this was brought up first thing in this book. It then goes into bios on each of the founding fathers with a timeline of their life events. In the chapter on the government, there is a nice break down of the bill of rights and its amendments.

There is even a chapter all about touring the 50 states and some great images of the country. (And yes, even some pics of Buffalo)

This book makes learning fun, with a lot of color photos and info graphics to help explain things. Honestly if books like this were used in my history classes growing up, I may have actually paid attention and retained a lot more information than I did!

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review. I was not otherwise compensated.

There was a lot to love with this book. Coming in at a little over 200 pages with index, glossary, etc it packed a lot of information in a concise way. I think this is a great introduction to our history and our land. The facts presented were diverse and balanced. A nice introduction that would hopefully spark interest in finding out more about the topics.

I'm a home school mom of 4 with ages ranging from almost 3 years old to 16. I first looked at this book thinking it would be a good resource for my Kindergarten child as she grows up and learns more about American History. I was shocked to find that it's also a great resource for my teens.
I actually really enjoyed it for myself. The way things are laid out make it really easy to read and find the information you are interested in at the moment. With a Hamilton crazed house right now it was so easy to find the sections that we all found most interesting.
This is certainly on my must list for our home school library. I love that my kids enjoy looking through it so much that they don't realize they are learning History. It's also going on my to-gift list for my nephew. Just all around a beautiful book to flip through. Every time we have we have found new things that grabbed our interest and had us reading and learning.

This is a really great overview of American history with lots of beautiful full color photographs and interesting graphical elements. The pieces of text are short but factual accurate and although each passage doesn't give a lot of detail, this could certainly be the starting point for research about the topics presented. This will be a great one for our library.
