To begin with, Creepy Crawly Crochet is a good resource on its own, because it includes clear illustrations and step by step instructions for various stitches and techniques, including the adjustable/magic ring which forms the first part of a lot of amigurumi. It has info on finishing off your toys, too, including stitches to join things, how to make fringes, etc. Throughout the book, the patterns come with plenty of guidance on how to assemble them, and where special care might be needed. There's a list of abbreviations in the back, too, along with a conversion chart from US sizes to UK sizes.
The designs themselves are also pretty neat; the faces are shaped really well, for example, and it makes great use of stitching to create body shapes and designs, in a more subtle way than I've seen in a lot of other designs. It's little touches that make the designs look great by giving them just that little bit extra realism... right down to the bits of zombie brain.
I think it's a fun collection and worth getting, especially for a beginner, because it covers a lot of the basics as well as some pretty easy designs.

Lots of fun looking characters to crochet! Would take actually stitching up a few to see how accurate the patterns are. Not very usable in e-book format as the actual templates for felt features are not included in the electronic version I received.
17 crochet pattern for small hands to hold and love. Good pictures for each animals with easy to read directions for both beginner and experienced crafters.
This is a great collection of creatures for you to make. The book has many photos and illustrations to help you in the process. Much detail is given for putting the pieces together along with templates for the embellishments. My favorite is "Jack the Headless Horseman." I will definitely be adding this book to my collection.
OMG this is SOOOO my thing. I don't know where to start because I want to make them all. Wonderfully kooky characters, loads of pictures and clear instructions. Maybe a tad trickier for someone who has never crocheted before, but a good clear how-to picture guide for stitches etc at the start.
Creepy cute crochet - everything you need for a crochet Halloween. I found this a great book, full of inspiration. Good photos and illustrations to accompany the instructions. A fun book.
I love this book. I love the creations. Beautifully illustrated with wonderful, easy to follow directions.
I did get a digital copy of this book from NetGalley to review. I will be checking out other titles from this author and purchasing hard, paper copies for my craft room.
Just in time to crochet some adorable "creepy, crawly" characters for Halloween! I love the attention to detail in this pattern book and many of the hints and tips will be used in other, future projects as well. My children (ages 16 and 8) are already putting in requests for their favorites to be made.
This is an adorable book of charmingly creepy creatures! The photography is wonderful. There are 17 creatures and each is photographed in the various steps with clear concise instructions and diagrams on how to create and assemble each. The book begins with crochet instructions for the stitches that will be used throughout the book with diagrams and photos that are easy, even for a beginner, to follow. The creativity of the creatures featured is amazing. My first choice would be the Chtulhu (an octopus looking creature) followed by Jack the Headless Horseman and Swamp Thang, but I would probably make them all! This is a fun book sure to be enjoyed by all crocheters.
This is a wonderful collection of crochet patterns with detailed instructions and high quality photos.
This is the perfect time of year to buy this book since Halloween is right around the corner.
This book is suitable for both beginner and intermediate crochet afficianos.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book.
I plan to make almost all of the 17 creatures. My favorite pattern is BOO BOO THE VOODO DOLL These creepy characters will make great gifts for science fiction and horror fans and for fans of old horror movies as well as those who love zombie fiction and television shows such as The Walking Dead.
I rate this amazingly fun crochet pattern book as 5 out of 5 Stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
This book is full of fun, original crochet patterns. I look forward to making these creatures, especially to display in my classroom as decorations around Halloween time!
The moment I saw the Cthulhu on the cover of this, I knew I had to have it! And it did not disappoint!
I've been crocheting for almost 8 years now and consider myself to be fairly advanced and to have seen my fair share of books and patterns. So when I say that this book has some well-written and obviously well-tested patterns, I mean it! That said, this is a book that is probably best suited for someone who is at least moderately skilled at making amigurumi, considering some of the stitches and techniques used.
The photos in this were also pretty darn fantastic and were accurate representations of what the creatures would look like when finished! (Nothing worse than an AmigurumiFail! right? ;) ).
The variety in this was also nice, with a good sprinkling of "creepy" creatures, most of which weren't overly "cute" and would be nice gifts for older kids (or, y'know, "kids" ;) ).
I love this! I love the unique ideas for each project! I especially love the Cthulhu! Wonderful crochet book!
I love this book, and easy to follow book on making rather unusual crotchet soft toys. The instructions are easy to follow, with only very simple stiches use, this makes it a wonderful book for all levels of skills to use. I really love the creepy patterns, makes a nice change for the cutsie. I particularly love the mummy and the werewolf, I know some teenagers who would love one of these dolls, let alone the children.
I love crochet books. I probably don't crochet as much as I should!, but books like this make me want to pick up my hook straight away. Lovely book with lots of clear instructions, and some great fun things to make. Will definitely bear it in mind for next year's halloween decorations! Definitely recommend if you love making crochet toys!
I loved this book!!! The pictures are too enticing. I want to crochet everything in here, but I'll never have the time before it expires. Maybe I'll have to suck it up and buy a copy. The directions are perfectly spaced and separated, to keep it from being overwhelming. There are also several beginner steps explained from the start for easy reference. I think it's perfect, and my oldest wants me to make him several of the monsters. Ivan thinks we are weird. lol
Great book about crocheting monsters! They are all so cute. Clear, concise instructions, including how to crochet. The pictures are very clear and helpful. I also love that the author gave tips and tricks. I really want to make each of the projects in the book. They are fabulous!
This was a lot of fun. It reminds me of when my grandmother would send crochet animals to us overseas. However she never sent things like these. Grandma was sweet, and while the creations in this book are also sweet, they come from a darker side. You will find Cthulhu, Frankenstein, and even a headless horseman. Lots of fun. Now if only they were knitting patterns.

This book was super cute. I am a beginner so it was nice that I could follow the pattern. My other friends who are avid crocheters loved this book. 2 of them are planning to purchase it for Christmas gifts to themselves. I love the easy to follow instructions and the chart that details exactly what yarns to use. My first attempt was to make Poe the Raven. It turned out fairly good but I am gonna do it again since he looks a little off ( I miscounted somewhere). This is the perfect book for anyone looking to crochet something a little more fun and festive.
This is a great book for both experienced crochet-ers and novices. I have been crocheting for awhile so it isn't new to me, but I am far from an expert and these patterns all look very doable for my skill level. All of the patterns are creepy crawly, but so cute! I am getting started on the spider and the werewolf for my boys now and I know they'll love them!
Thank you so much Netgalley for letting me review this Crochet book, as a avid crocheter I love this book and I can not wait to make all the patterns. So cute and fun!!
Loved this! The instructions were easy to follow and the tutorials clear and consise. It has provides a great reference for different knot types as well as adorable Halloween patterns.
Once again, I check out a really cool book about crochet with having no knowledge of how to make any of the cool things in the book! But this year I think I am going to try to teach myself because there are so many cool things that I want to try and make out there!
There are 17 creepy, crawly creatures in this book - things that go bump in the night! The book shows you all the stitches and techniques for all of the creatures. My favorites were the mummy, swamp thing and booboo voodoo! There is even an itsy bitsy spider included, but I think I'll pass on trying to make him! This book has a lot of items that would be great for Halloween!
I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.
Fun filled crochet book for making 17 creepy crawly things.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
A great resource for beginners wanting to learn amigurumi. As someone who loves amigurumi, but hasn't quite gotten the hang of it, this book made is easy to learn. Not only are the creature unique yet familiar, but direction are easy and straightforward. Between the pattern and the images that accompany them, these projects that seem impossible at first glance are actually doable. Beyond the patterns, there are additional tips and tricks to help the reader out.
All in all, I feel this is a great resource for those wanting to get into amigurumi, regardless of their skill level.
I think I may have to buy a copy not just for the library and myself, but for most of my friends. Everybody who crafts, whether it be crochet or knitting, would love this.
The book devotes the first 20 pages or so to basic crochet stitches and then just gets going with no preamble into some of the most deliciously twisted crochet toys. My particular favorites are the evil bunny and nightmare the horse.
I do think that some of the patterns might be daunting to a beginner but the narration is light and entertaining, so you do feel like you can take on these denizens of the undead. A great book.
