Cute book about a little boy who doesn't want to sleep. His toys each take turns telling him why he needs to sleep.

Simply put, Buzzy doesn’t want to go to sleep, despite all his toys urging him to. He imagines all the adventures he could be having with them until he’s reminded dreams are good for that too.
One of the first brightly colored paintings that caught my attention featured toy astronauts and dinosaurs. . . so immediately I thought Toy Story. The drawings of Moon Man’s perpetually shocked face are priceless and the highlight of the whole book.

This book was enjoyable and I would definitely look at getting a copy to keep. I really hope it works and helps get younger children to head off to sleep a bit quicker. I know quite a few children and parents who are struggling with this at the moment so will let them know about this book. I received a copy of this book from the publishers in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting bedtime story for kids who wants to have a lot of adventure rather than sleep

"Bedtime for Buzzy" is a delightful story about a recalcitrant little boy who won't go to bed because he is too busy. Indeed, his toys tell him that Giant Dinosaur has to stomp through the Great Divide, Captain Pirate must find the hidden treasure, and Courageous Hero must find the City of Gold! Even Moon Man must finish his moon base. One by one, however, they fall asleep, telling Buzzy that they must rest up for their great adventure. After Courageous Hero explains that his adventures take place in Buzzy's dreams, Buzzy excitedly goes to sleep.

Parents will love the story and illustrations that will gently convince their own little Buzzys that bedtime is not so bad after all.

4 stars
Colourful cartoon illustrations that seem (and may indeed be) drawn by a parent or other family member for a little kid who won’t go to sleep.

A Buzz Lightyear-type toy, Moon Man, features on the first page. Next is Captain Pirate and a teddy bear and some Bob the Builder and other toys. Then Giant Dinosaur -a female, I’m happy to report!

Each group has more to do, more to achieve, and hasn’t finished for the day. But Daddy is calling that it’s time for bed.

Buzzy yells NO so loudly, that Moon Man falls over and asks Buzzy

“However will we get the Moon Base finished without rest?

And with that, Moon Man fluffed up his Moon Pillow and began to snore, making the sound that only a Moon Man would make while snoring.”

Gradually, each group explains why we need sleep and dreams, and Buzzy can’t wait to start dreaming. A win for Daddy and parents everywhere!

Cute. Whether kids will be convinced to go to bed, I can’t say, but this is one way to try.

I’ve quoted from my NetGalley preview copy, so it’s possible the text may have changed.
