Description

Headstrong cowgirl Peta Dixon has put her life on hold this Christmas to prove she can run her ranch as well as any man. There isn’t anything she can’t ride, fix, or stare down, and the only things to scare her are long hemlines and sky-high heels.

Self-made rancher Garrett Ross normally doesn’t take orders – he gives them. But when asked to step in to act as a temporary foreman on a Montana ranch over the holidays, he can’t refuse.

Yet when Garrett meets the beautiful and stubborn ranch owner, he realizes he’s signed on for a whole lot of trouble. Cynical and jaded, he has no time for feelings. And when Peta meets the man she’s to share her life with until Christmas, she discovers she no longer wants to be the person others expect her to be…

Will the rancher finally listen to his heart and admit he can’t live without a certain straight-talking cowgirl?

Headstrong cowgirl Peta Dixon has put her life on hold this Christmas to prove she can run her ranch as well as any man. There isn’t anything she can’t ride, fix, or stare down, and the only things...

His Christmas Cowgirl is the latest in Alissa Callen's Wildflower Ranch series and once again this author has delivered a lovely, warm page-turning story. Set in picturesque Paradise Valley Montana this is the story of ranch owner and cowgirl Peta Dixon and her temporary ranch foreman Garrett Ross. Peta is accustomed to running a tight ship and is initially unimpressed when she finds Garrett has ignored some f her instructions, while Garrett's first impressions of Peta are also less than flattering. I love rural stories and this one fits the bill nicely with its balanced mix of cowboys, horses, cattle and small town country people. The story is well told and had me hooked from the first page.

Loved this one! Really enjoyed revisiting some of my favorite characters from the previous Wildflower Ranch books. This one can easily be read on it's own though. Peta Dixon has always wanted to run the family ranch. Never a girly girl, she's comfortable with her place in the world. She must admit though, seeing all her siblings finding love and their HEA's has her wanting a love of her own. Ranching doesn't really give many opportunities to meet new people though. Returning from a trip with her sister, she learns quickly she has a new ranch foreman. It appears that due to a bunkhouse flood, the foreman is staying in the main house with her. Will this turn out to be a problem or an opportunity?? She did want to meet new people, right??

A fun read and one I highly recommend.

This is my first book by Alissa Callen but it won't be my last, as I'm anxious to read more of the Wildflower Ranch books. I liked the meet-up between Peta (love this unusual heroine's name!) and Garrett and their first impressions of one another. Peta is running the family ranch and loving it, except for the loneliness that comes with being a female rancher in her home town, where everyone sees her as just one of the guys. Garrett is in town to help an old friend and doesn't want to start anything with his temporary boss, even if she sparks something inside of him.
Their romance starts slowly but I liked that about them. They are both cognizant for the pitfalls of a relationship between them. But they just can't fight the chemistry. The ending was sweet, the secondary characters fun and interesting. I look forward to visiting Paradise Valley Montana again soon!

And finally we come to Peta’s story. I always felt it would take a uniquely strong cowboy to partner up with this feisty, strong, stubborn woman and did she ever find all that and more in Garrett. If this is your first visit to the Wildflower Ranch series, then you’re in for a wonderful treat. But don’t worry you won’t get lost among the community that makes up these ranches or the small town of Marietta, Montana. Everyone you’ll meet is clearly defined as where they fit in the family and the extended family of friends. I hope that there are more tales to be told… but I also know that all series (usually) eventually come to an end. If that’s the case with the Wildflower Ranch series, then it’s been a unique and enjoyable journey with these fine people. But, after all, this is Marietta so they’ll probably pop up again somewhere. *grin*

It’s been said that you can never make a second first impression… and for Peta and Garrett that is certainly true. They both made an impression on the other that was completely the opposite of what they truly are like. But once made, it’s going to take a bit to change that reaction.

Garrett is a driven man with secrets he’s keeping very close to his vest. He has ties with the foreman of Peta’s ranch, but other than that he’s a stranger to this community. He definitely knows his way around a ranch. So much so that he tends to ignore the owner’s instructions and does things his way – for now until Peta returns from her trip, then he’s going to get a taste of reality.

Peta is the least likely girly girl you’ll ever find on a working ranch. She’s comfortable in her own skin just as she is. But for a friend she took time away to visit places she never dreamed of seeing, and let her inner girl come out and play with makeup and clothes a bit. Now back home it’s a dose of reality time when she realizes that the foreman who’s here to help out until Hal gets back on his feet isn’t listening to her at all. It’s beside the point that he’s a handsome devil, he thinks she’s something that she definitely is not.. a pushover. He’s going to learn a lesson the hard way.

Peta and Garret were such an enjoyable couple, both together and individually. Their romance is the slow cooker type, with each aware of the other but each having their own reasons for not going further. Garrett has been burned so badly that his drive won’t allow him to accept that there is a woman right here in front of him that could care less about who he is in the world or his past. His hesitation to come clean almost lost him the love that he didn’t know he was searching for. Peta is a country cowgirl from the tip of her hat down to the heel of her boots but she’ll take on Garrett without hesitation. His hidden secrets might hurt but she has to face the truth that this is the one man for her and make her choice.

It was such a delight to run into Payton & Cordell, Bridie & Ethan, Trinity & Zane, Brent & Kendall, and Rhett & Ivy once again. I remember their stories fondly and it was a joy for me to have them so much a part Peta’s story. You’ll also get a very descriptive experience of a roundup, which was fun for me and take the Christmas Stroll through downtown Marietta (which is a character of it’s own) with all its Christmas finery on display.

I completely enjoyed His Christmas Cowgirl. And if I left a little bit of my reading heart on the wildflower ranches, well so be it. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good solid romance with believable characters and situations. It doesn’t get much better than life in Marietta, Montana. You should visit – soon.

Peta Dixon's life goal was to run Bluebell Falls Ranch on her own and prove to her father that she could run it as well as any man. While she was on a European vacation with her sister, her ranch foreman, Hal, got injured and ended up in the hospital. Hal called the one man he knew that could handle taking over his job until he was back on his feet again, Garrett Ross.

Garrett knew the ins and outs of running a ranch even though he now made his money buying and selling ranches. But when Hal needed his help, Garrett didn't hesitate to rush to his aid.

Peta didn't have time for a relationship, but from the first moment she laid eyes on Garrett, all sorts of thoughts went through her mind. Garrett's first impression of Peta was that she reminded him of every other materialistic woman from his past. But her looks were very deceiving. Once Garrett got to know Peta, he realized she was a down to earth country girl with all good intentions. she valued her ranch, the livestock and everyone who worked for her. Together, Garrett and Peta learn to open up and trust each other and accept whatever the future holds for them.

I could tell the author did a lot of research on this book with all of the ranch scenes, especially the cattle drive. She did a great job integrating it with Peta and Garrett’s romance. I also enjoyed reading about Ivy and Rhett’s wedding

First impressions are often wrong as clearly shown in His Christmas Cowgirl (Wildflower Ranch, Book 6) by Alissa Callen. If you are a fan of the Wildflower Ranch Series like I am, this is a marvelous addition to that series. You don’t have to have read this series to enjoy Peta’s story, still I think it might help if you want to know many of the supporting characters stories. Mostly I think it will make you want to read the previous five books.

Still Montana, still cowgirls who can rope, ride and run the ranch as well as any man. Also, there is still the conflict between the sexes when two strong personalities collide. which just make the book a fun, flirty and believe it or not heartwarming read. Long enough to come to a satisfying conclusion but not so long that the pacing is slow. In fact, the book moves at a smooth but quick speed. I loved the community Christmas spirit which is just right to put you in the holiday mood.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

Peta Dixon reruns home to the Bluebell Falls Ranch after a month away in Europe with her sister, Kendall, to discover the man who her foreman had employed to run the ranch after he himself was injured appears to have moved into her home! Garrett Ross is acting as ranch foreman because he cares for Hal, her foreman, not because he needs the job or doesn't have anything better to do. Hal was important in helping turn his life around when he was a teenager and Garrett will do all he can to help him however he can. The two had never previously met and initial impressions aren't favourable. However, their mutual attraction and growing respect for each other might not be enough for them to give their love a chance. There are secrets, personal experiences and much more to be overcome before this couple can attain their HEA together!

I was gifted an ARC of this novel via NetGalley with no obligation or requirement to review it. This is my honest review after reading the ARC.

Peta Dixon has been that one character I have been wondering about as I have read the series. She is an independent and such a strong woman, it would take a special person to win her heart. And Garrett Ross fits the bill perfectly. Together they have such a chemistry and magic it nearly outshines the Christmas lights.
I loved how the ranch life got a good part in the story, as it is Peta's heart and soul. The cowgirl's life was so well twined into the vine of the tale, into how Peta and Garrett got to know each other, how they learn to see the other as they truly are. And all the better that Hal and Garrett had that connection through their lives, the whole series was all coming together in a beautiful story that captured my heart.
There's the guaranteed Marietta, Montana Christmas traditions, and weddings, and the Grey's making it all feel like arriving home, visiting family and friends.
Yet the developing relationship between Peta and Garrett took the center stage, and it wasn't necessarily an easy to be in the spotlight. They share so much, have so much in common, yet they have lived such a different lives it takes hardship and adjustments to get where they want to be.
His Christmas Cowgirl is an alluring, charming, even dazzling love story that has both elegant high heels and comfortable boots. It is a story where dreams come true even though through some aches and concerns. The story had me longing for Christmas, family, friends, love all around, the lights, the joy, the cheer, and Peta and Garrett made me sigh and smile even had a tear with all the unpredictability of love. What a delightful tale!

I so enjoyed this Christmas story that takes place in Wildflower Ranch. When ranch owner, Peta returns home after a European vacation and she finds her new ranch foreman, Garrett living in her house, first impressions are all wrong. Peta is a very strong woman, nothing stands in her way. She is not afraid of hard work. Garrett sees her as a girly girl but soon, Peta will be changing his mind or is Peta enjoying the girly girl. As they soon learn to work together, a budding relationship begins. I highly recommend this story during the upcoming Christmas season.

The ending was unrealistic, but all in all a cute, sexy read!

Peta Dixon has been traveling and when she returns home to her ranch she finds the stubborn Garrett Ross has stepped in as foremen while she was gone when her normal foremen was injured. Walking into her home Peta finds Garrett has made himself at home instead of staying in the foreman’s cottage which does not put the pair off to a good start.

With Peta just coming in from vacation she’s just had a makeover that this cowgirl just isn’t quite comfortable with but Garrett takes as there’s no way this woman is a true cowgirl. As Garrett and Peta find themselves forced to continue to work together the pair find that they’ve both come to conclusions about the other that weren’t close to the truth.

His Christmas Cowgirl is the sixth book in the Wildflower Ranch series set in the small town of Marietta, Montana which of course is one of my favorite places to visit while reading during the holiday season. Each of the books in the series can be read as standalone novels as they each feature different couples but there are of course glimpses into previous characters in the other books and events that take place in Marietta over the course of all the series that feature this lovely town.

This book is a case of the classic first impressions that had been way off base and as the characters get to know one another they find that they have more in common than either ever dreamed. The relationship is given the chance to grow as the pair get to know one another while all the events and activities are taking place leading up to the holiday season.

Overall, another great holiday romance that takes place in the lovely small town of Marietta, Montana. I just love the small town holiday feel that happens during all of these wonderful stories.

Book Review: His Christmas Cowgirl by Alissa Callen

Book 6 of the Wildflower Ranch series, “His Christmas Cowgirl” follows headstrong cowgirl Peta Dixon and self-made rancher Garrett Ross. A short and sweet read, it is a story of finding love in the most unexpected place.

For Peta, it was her true love right at her home. For Garrett, it was finding the woman of her dreams while helping a dear friend, a request that he cannot refuse. Still, for Peta and Garrett, their feelings for each other might not be enough to sustain a relationship.

Peta is at home in the mountains, far from the maddening crowd. Garrett on the other hand is at home in the prairie in as much he feels at home in the boardroom. He is used to herding cattle while also very adept in getting votes of approval from a Board of Directors. Can their dichotomous lifestyle find a middle ground?

“His Christmas Cowgirl” is Rated T for Teens. There are no sex scenes in this book but it is implied that it happened.

Another cute, festive read.

His Christmas Cowgirl was a sweet read that once again had me curled up next to a radiator and forgetting the cold. It put me in the festive spirit and kept a smile on my face.

I thought the world the author created in this book was great. While I haven't read any previous books by Callen, I could tell they were a tight-knit group and I'm intrigued to find out more about them. I liked Peta's toughness and willingness to get her hands dirty. Similarly, I liked Garret. Although I didn't quite believe in his secrecy, he was a good character and they formed a sweet couple.

Overall this was an enjoyable read that put me in the festive mood.

Peta Dixon is a strong willed cowgirl. She knows how to run her ranch and will always be the one in control. When she clashes with Garrett Ross, sparks fly. He won't give in to this woman. He knows that beauty means betrayal. I loved seeing these two work together and learn to trust. Their chemistry is powerful and they become involved. That is until the past comes between them. Will Peta follow her heart? She hates to be in the spotlight. Garrett knows that she's strong but Peta isn't sure. Garrett has known pain and he guards his secrets. He's learned the hard way that people will use you for their own gain. I really wanted these two to have a future together. I like these characters and wanted the best for them. I enjoy visiting Marietta and Paradise Valley with its Wildflower Ranches. Here the people are old friends and the Christmas Spirit is plentiful. Alissa Callen has written a lovely romance that made me smile.

His Christmas Cowboy is the sixth book in the Wildflower Ranch series and was another hit read from author Alissa Callen.

Missed reading Alissa Callen! She’s one of those writers with a skill to captivate readers with her cowboy stories so filled with warmth and love, and down to earth characters. Her Wild Flower Ranch Series is one of my favorites and her very first books that have charmed me.
And it is so very nice to go back to the Wild Flower Ranch Series, Montana and Peta Dixon! A total cowgirl and with ranching her breath, there’s nothing that she cannot not do as a rancher. But as a woman, she stays far away from dresses and heels! Coming back home from a vacation with her sister to a hot and judgmental temporary foreman running her ranch was not on her agenda and neither was the spark of attraction.
Self-made rancher millionaire Garrett Ross was only honoring a favor for his mentor and has no intention of following orders from his boss lady. But the genuine rancher that Peta is captivates Garrett and the sparks pretty soon become fireworks. I’ve always wondered the guy who would hold Peta’s heart and Garrett fits perfectly.
“His Christmas Cowgirl” is a charming and heartwarming love story not to be missed. It’s wonderful revisiting previous characters and getting a glimpse of their lives as Alissa Callen gives Peta her HEA with Garrett.

Love me some strong women. And the men who have to "save" them without letting them know.

Peta returns to find that the temporary foreman is moved into her ranch house. Garrett is helping out as foreman for an old friend and is determined to remain until he recovers. These two strong willed people learn to stop and discover the depths of each other and compromise. This is part of the Wildflower Ranch series of Montana and well worth the read. Pull up a comfortable chair and prepare to be whisked out to the Big Sky Country.

Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are my own.

A fun and interesting story of a young rancher who returns from Europe to find her temporary foreman in her house. Lots of misconceptions and dismissals from both sides lead to the main plot direction throughout. I did enjoy this book, and liked the characters for the most part. At times though, I did feel like I was missing something, and believe this is part of a series. Sadly this is the first one I've read, so although I liked it, I think I would have liked it more if I would have read some of the others. At least it would have made me understand Peta better (really dislike her name too, as it kept making me think of the organization). Anyway, still highly recommend this book and story, but if you can find the others in the series first I would recommend it.

A sweet Christmas romance, great for getting into the spirit of the season.

At last it's Peta's turn! I've enjoyed her in her siblings' books and was excited to read hers. Peta is a tough cookie who does a fabulous job running her ranch. When she goes to Europe with her sister, she has to leave it for a while. A string of issues means that Garrett ends up stepping in as foreman. When Peta comes home, sparks fly!

Peta's slow discovery of her femininity throughout the book is fun to watch. She's never been a girly girl so seeing her in dresses and wondering what she should wear was different and gave her a nice character arc. Garrett's emotional struggles and his loyalty were the perfect touch to draw me in. That they both misjudged the other and then had to start over with cool.

Against the backdrop of a Marietta Christmas, Peta and Garrett were a couple who not only struck sparks but also kept the homefires burning. They are a perfect match. I really liked this book, especially getting to read Peta's story. I like the pairing and I like how they work together.

I think I am going to slow down on my cowboy romances. Even though I liked this story and give it a good rating, I found this book....lacking enthusiasm. The cover is gorgeous and the plot sit very well for me, but I felt like the story just didn't quite sit well within my heart. That isn't to say the story is good. I liked the characters and the romance but it felt like I more or less read this exact type of story before. It didn't feel too different for me. But I am sure that is more on me than the author.

Now this does not stop me from following the author, but I just think a break from the norm would be good. So if you are looking for the normal cowboy romance, especially a holiday one, this will fit beautifully.

I give this' book a THREE SHOOTING STARS!

Back again in small town at Marietta, Montana.
Peta is finally back at her Bluebell Falls ranch after traveling abroad with her sister and finds her ranch is occupied by someone else Garrett Ross. Their first impression of each other wasn't very pleasant at least.
When Garrett saw Peta, he doubted her ability as strong cowgirl that she always have been known for and Peta didn't think much of Garrett either.
Both were doubting each other ability but they had to work together. When both realizes their first impression was way off, they started to work together in sync except Garrett had his secret of his own.
Their time at the ranch working together is only up until Christmas and Peta is slowly realizing she wants to have him around longer than Christmas.
Both are falling for each other, but Garrett's secret is catching up to them and it is creating more drama for Peta ever expected.
Will Peta and Garrett find their own happy ending at Bluebell Falls Ranch?

I always enjoy reading all the series from Marrietta, Montana. So many characters but they all tied in somehow.
