Dr. Wyatt Gallagher returned to his hometown of Marietta, Montana after he was betrayed by his ex-fiancee. However Wyatt had left his best friend behind in Denver, Mia Watson, and now after time to think Wyatt wants nothing more than to have Mia back in his life so with the excuse of one of his brother’s upcoming wedding and the other brother having a child on the way Wyatt invites Mia to Marietta.
Mia had been in love with Wyatt for years but had never pushed for anything more than friendship from him. One night after his breakup though things had gone farther than they ever had and the two spent the night together but Wyatt had never acknowledged that night and moved back home before even talking to Mia about it. Now that her heart has starting healing Mia isn’t sure she want to be pulled back into Wyatt’s life and that would mean sharing the secret she’s kept since he left.
The Doctor’s Christmas Proposal is the third book in the Gallagher’s of Montana series set in the lovely small town of Marietta, Montana during the Christmas holiday season. Each of these books feature different couples so they can be read as standalones but there’s always mentions of previous characters and events in Marietta, Montana books.
What I enjoyed with this story was that the characters had an established relationship in their past so with a short read it didn’t feel rushed into romance between what could be two strangers. However, with that history came things between them that really needed to be discussed and of course gets put off so that is rather frustrating. It got to the point though with this one that it got a bit repetitive bringing up the past as if to drill into it there is going to be a big confrontation, a bit of a turn off for me.
Overall though I still enjoy any look into the characters and the lovely small town of Marietta, Montana and all of it’s holiday charm.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
This review is based on an ARC that I received via NetGalley.
I started reading this book and was triggered by “Miracle Lake”. I had just read a book that had an area with the same name. I thought that it was interesting that there were similar events in this book and then there was a brief scene with the two lead characters from the other book.
Just like the previous book I found myself immersed in the Marietta life. I loved the ambiance that this book gave me. The passion for the holiday’s wasn’t as great as the other book because this book was all about getting the girl back and moving from friends to lovers. But the holidays did play a large roll for Mia.
Wyatt and Mia have been friends for years. Living down the hall from each other they were always present in each other’s lives. Until Wyatt made a mistake and his ex-fiancé exploited that. When it explodes in his face the first person he runs to is Mia, his best friend. Their encounter leads to something more, confused by his feelings, he runs. Leaving Mia with heartbreak and a dark secret.
Months later when he comes to his senses he requests that Mia join him in Montana on the pretense that he needs her to help with the upcoming events. She agrees because even though she tries she loves him. But will this meeting and the life events that they will share be too much for her?
A well written book that built the story at a steady pace. With appropriate backstory segments that enhanced the story rather than just were there. Wyatt and Mia are two characters that you can get behind and root for. And the supporting characters you want more of, I can’t wait to find out more about Dylan. Mia and Wyatt’s story is one that will warm your heart and take you on a journey that you won’t regret.
this is a fab sweet romantic Christmas read which is perfect for the cold dark evenings. The characters are so lovable and you just fall in love with them from the beginning. The chemistry between them is so nicely written. This book can be read as a stand alone read or as part of a the series. This is a quick sweet romantic read you'll not want to put down. I cant wait to read more from this author in the future.
highly recommended
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
This was a really sweet Christmas read. It was exactly what I was looking for. This is a sweet friends to lovers story. Wyatt and Mia have been best friends for years. After an explosive break up, Wyatt and Mia crossed the friendship line. A few weeks later, Wyatt moved home and left Mia behind. After a while, he calls Mia to come to his home for a wedding and his brother's baby being born. Mia has loved Wyatt for years and watching him walk away was the hardest thing she's dealt with, but knowing her heart will be broken she agrees to go and see him. Mia is keeping a secret that could destroy any potential future they have. As Wyatt tries to woo Mia, will the secret undo everything?
I loved Wyatt's family. This was such a great family. I want to go back and read the other stories on how the other brothers got married. Mia and Wyatt were both very enjoyable characters. The plot is good and the length is a perfect Christmas story length. Exactly what I was looking for to put me in the holiday mood.
This was a sweet story. I am glad both leads got over their past
Mia and Wyatt are really good together, once they actually get together. So hard to make that transition from friends to lovers and then more but in this case it was worth all the work.
This is the third novel in this Marietta, Montana series. After the dramatic breakdown of his relationship with his fiancé, Dr Wyatt Gallagher’s immediate reaction was to seek out his best friend, Mia Watson. He’s unaware that she’s been in love with him for years but he finds consolation in her arms. However, he then returns back to his home town and rarely contacts her, even though he’s really missing her and has vivid memories of their night together. Months later, he invites her to spend the festive holiday with him and his family, claiming he needs her support whilst one of his brothers gets married and another expects to become a father. She is reluctant to agree but can’t resist. Once she arrives, their heart warming tale makes this a delightful festive read.
This is an enjoyable addition to this year’s Marietta reads. It contains characters who star in other stories by other authors and many of the same events. The lead characters are emotively portrayed, making it easy to empathise with them and keeping you hoping things will work out for them in the end. There are some surprises and unexpected twists to keep you guessing and I have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone who enjoys cuddling up with a cosy festive romance set in this delightful community.
I requested and received an ARC of this novella NetGalley. This is my honest review.
This was a wonderful holiday read. I love going back to Marietta for the holidays and this book was a great way to go there. Wyatt Gallagher and Mia Watson have been friends for a very long time. When Wyatt's relationship with his ex fiance comes crashing down he finds consolation with Mia and an incredible night of passion. After that night he returns home leaving Mia alone and confused. Now months later Wyatt is asking for Mia's help to get him through his brothers wedding and the impending birth of his other brother's child. Is that his only motivation for wanting Mia around??
Definitely a book you want to read.
3 too many secrets stars
We have friends... then they have a night which crosses the line...Mia is left with a New Secret... and our guy finally realizes his best friend Mia is the one... Now what... Well he invites her to a wedding of his brother.
All of this is to get them back together... But he doesn't know Mia's secret and Mia knows when he finds out... there will be pain.
I love Marietta stories...there was a bit of repeating information to make sure we "got " how big an issues was going to be... Other than that...Marietta Wins.
Mia and Wyatt are perfect for each other and always have been, but time and circumstance keep them apart. When a night of comfort moves their relationship in a different direction, decisions have to be made and secrets revealed in order to save a friendship on the verge of becoming more. The selling point of The Doctor's Christmas Proposal was that sense of family that leaps right off the page and into your heart. One of the greatest feelings to have to fall in love and be loved in return. Cheesy but so true and Eve Gaddy captures that feeling with Wyatt and Mia.
The Doctor's Christmas Proposal (The Gallaghers of Montana) by Eve Gaddy is an interesting story of guilty and forgiveness and love and betrayal all wrapped up in a “friends to lovers” story-line. The plot flows smoothly though not quickly. Since the two main characters, Mia and Wyatt, have known each other for years it is not needed since it is not an instant love/lust attraction story. However, it seemed as if the light finally came on for Wyatt fairly quickly. Like Mia, I would have questioned him too.
I found Mia to an endearing character. One who had reasons to be wary of those who supposedly loved her. I enjoyed immensely seeing Marietta through her artist eyes. The vividness of the Christmas stroll, tree farm, mountains and the ranch seemed enhanced viewing it as she did for the first time. Wyatt, on the other hand, seemed whimpish at times. I understood what had happened to him but come on, he didn’t love the woman. So why was he not celebrating instead of putting on the little boy hurt act. Pride, pride, pride. Then I was unhappy in his blaming Mia for everything between them. Finally, and that is finally, he redeems himself. The book is so realistic I wanted to set someone (Wyatt) straight early on. I guess I became invested, taking Mia’s side from beginning to end. What can I say, when an author makes you feel something strongly that seems like good writing to me.
Last, it was great to catch-up with the previous two couples. However, The Doctor's Christmas Proposal is certainly able to be read and enjoyed without having read the earlier books.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.
Going back to Marietta, Montana for a Gallagher brother's Christmas romantic story was fun, full of warmth and a lot of holiday cheer. The stories about this town that are cross pollinated by different authors is fun to read because they all use the same timeline, activities, locations and many of the same characters...it's a joy to have a character from one of the other stories pop up in the one you're reading.
Wyatt and Mia's story is sweet in their reconnecting and finding their HEA. The author has woven a wonderfully captivating tale of two people who finally find their way back to each other. Throw in the Christmas holiday and you have a story with added sentimentality.
This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
I like Christmas romance, and especially this year, it seems like a good inoculation against the unhappiness in the world and the stress of life and the holidays. I picked up Eve Gaddy's The Doctor's Christmas Proposal off NetGalley. I really like Eve's writing and expected to really like this book. And a lot of it I did. But one unfortunately central element kept bothering me and while it was addressed somewhat at the end, not enough for me.
So here's the story (blurb off Amazon):
Betrayed by his ex-fiancée, Dr. Wyatt Gallagher turns to the one woman he can always trust – his best friend, Mia Watson. 515tvf7nqlAfter moving away, Wyatt has realized he wants more than friendship with the beautiful artist. With that in mind, he convinces Mia to come to Marietta for the Christmas holidays. But wooing Mia is surprisingly difficult — especially given the passionate night they’ve already shared.
Though Mia Watson has loved Wyatt Gallagher for years, he's always seen her as a friend, never a lover. Except for one unforgettable interlude when comfort turned to passion. Then Wyatt moved back to Montana, leaving Mia with an unexpected consequence of their night together--and soon, heartbreak to follow.
Faced with the fulfillment of her dreams, Mia knows she must reveal the consequences of their night together to Wyatt. But having withheld the truth for so long, will her confession destroy his trust in her, ending their friendship and any hope of a future together?
So obviously there's some cool angsty stuff going on. Also, the setting is Montana, and having lived there for 15 years, I loved reading about it. From that third paragraph, you can guess that Mia got pregnant from Wyatt on their one night stand years before (which for her was not one, and for him--very confusing). More on that below.
The family and secondary characters were fun and interesting and warm. This isn't a book of high drama, it's quieter and more family focused. It's a fairly gentle story in many ways. I liked Wyatt and Mia quite a bit and felt that their emotions and feelings for one another were real and strong.
Now this is going to be a spoiler, so if you don't want to have that, don't read more.
Ready? Okay then.
Mia's main concern is that she never told Wyatt she was pregnant and miscarried and she thinks that lie is going to be unforgivable, plus she can't have children, or so her OB told her at the time. Now she tried to tell him. After their night together and she discovered she was pregnant, she went to tell him, and before she can, he tells her he's leaving town. Then he proceeds to never call her. When she decides she has to tell him, she miscarries. Now he'd had a rough break up with a woman who'd lied to him about being pregnant and he'd asked her to marry him though he didn't love her. You can kind of see where this is all going. Mia fears at the time he'll think she's trying to trap him into marriage, and she loves him and doesn't want that kind of marriage anyhow.
So here's my issue. Sure she didn't tell him. But she miscarried, so there was no baby. I don't see why it's so hideously bad, and that his behavior was far worse. He sleeps with her. Then he moves away without calling her. Then he calls her up out of the blue because he's realized he's in love with her. In the meantime, he's dating other women--though apparently not sleeping with them. The point is, he is a far bigger ass than he ever believes he was and that really really bothers me.
So while I enjoyed the book overall, I was extremely irritated by the hero at the end, largely because he was so self-unaware. He mentions he should have been better, but hardly believes it's anything like the magnitude of her lie. I just can't buy it.
Keeping secrets is always a double edged sword situation. It’s going to hurt both people when the truth comes out, and it always does come out eventually. And not telling something important is a lie of omission, while perhaps justified in some way – it’s still a lie. How can two people hope for a future when there is always something left unsaid between them… something that could change everything.
Wyatt had been played, and played well by the woman he’d ask to marry him. Her deception set events in motion that are now coming full circle. Wyatt’s brother Sean is getting married at Christmas, his brother Jack’s wife, Maya, is about to give birth to their child any moment now. Both events have sent Wyatt down memory lane in a not so pleasant trip. The only good thing about those memories are the times with Mia, his best friend, the woman he turned to in the dark time, the one woman he trusts completely. And it seems the woman he loves as well. He left Denver quickly to return home to Marietta shortly after their one amazing night together. He needed time to sort through all that had happened. Trouble was that although he’s missed Mia, knows that they have something special between them, he hasn’t been in touch with her since he left. Yeah, not a very cool thing to do to your best friend, let alone the woman you think you love. Now he’s set about a plan to get Mia to come to Marietta for Christmas, to “help” him through his brother’s wedding, and the birth of a child. Is he being completely honest in his request – yes and no. But all that will be fixed when he sees Mia and explains how much she means to him. Hopefully.
Mia has loved Wyatt for a very long time now, yet she’s always been firmly in that “friend zone” except for one night. One night that changed everything for her, one night that had repercussions that she’s never shared with Wyatt. It’s not that she didn’t want to, didn’t intend to but events beyond her control happened and then there really was no point. When Wyatt invited her to the ranch in his moment of need she’d hesitated for about one second before giving in. She loved him, and it was beyond time she told him. Even though she knew they had no future, he never saw her as the forever kind of girl in his life, for her own sanity she had to tell him. Then everything between them would truly be done.
Normally I find it very difficult to buy into a romance based on a lie. It’s one of my “hot spots” in romance. Yet in The Doctor’s Christmas Proposal I completely “got” what happened in Mia’s life at that time, and I understood her decisions… and admired her determination to tell Wyatt at this late date to find her own peace of mind. To be honest, I found myself putting me in her shoes and I don’t know if I’d have handled it any differently given the way events played out.
Wyatt has discovered since he came home just how much Mia meant to him. He might not really “need” her here for the reasons he gave her but he did need her back in his life. Yeah, he’d acted foolishly in not contacting her sooner, and maybe in running back home so unexpectedly but that was past, now they could concentrate on a future if Mia loved him as much as he loved her.
I enjoyed The Doctor’s Proposal very much. It was such fun to visit with Jack and Maya and their daughters Carmen and Gina again. To be there for the birth of their son was a special moment. To see Honey and Sean get married, and to experience that special surprise for Honey brought tears to my eyes. Interwoven throughout all the Christmas fun, the family moments Wyatt and Mia’s romance took flight. And the tensions Mia faced grew as well. I hurt for Mia in so many ways. I understood Wyatt’s reactions. And to see how a truly in love couple should face difficulties together was something we don’t often get in romance today. I felt their pain, and I rejoiced at their solutions… and isn’t that how deeply a good romance should affect us as readers?
We still have two Gallagher siblings to find their own personal happiness… and to be found somewhere in the lonely world. I would highly recommend this story along with the entire series to any Romance reader who loves to get deeper into the mind of the characters, to understand even those things that push a button in their own lives. I enjoyed every moment with these characters and cannot wait to revisit the Gallagher family once again.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this novel. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this story.*
I love visiting Marietta Montana at the Christmas holidays, what can be more perfect than the Christmas tree farm and ice skating on Miracle Lake. Wyatt and Mia were once friends and had an evening of passion, now Wyatt has asked Mia to join him for Christmas in Marietta. Their passion soon resumes, but Mia has a secret she has kept from Wyatt. Will this secret break them a part forever.
I so enjoyed this book, love the Gallagher family. They are so close. The perfect read for this holiday season. Can't wait for more Gallaghers!!
Cute Christmas romance story that bring together two best friends, not easily or without trouble of course, but in a way that makes you appreciate them. Through their strengths together they can accomplish more than apart.
This is my first read by Eve Gaddy and I was thoroughly enchanted!
THE DOCTOR’S CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL is full of all kinds of warm and fuzzy feelings. Mia and Wyatt are great characters and I really enjoyed reading their friends-to-lovers story.
Wyatt moved back home to Montana shortly after his fiancée cheated on him. But not before breaking up with her and sharing one night of passion with his best friend Mia. He’s faced with attending his brother’s wedding and invites Mia to his hometown to accompany him to the wedding and spend Christmas with him. You see, Wyatt has finally realized that his feelings for Mia are deeper than the close friendship they shared. He’s invited Mia to the wedding to help him get through it, but also to spend time with her and hopefully explore these uncharted feelings.
Mia is an artist living and working in Colorado when she gets a call from her friend Wyatt inviting her to come to a wedding. She’s surprised and a little reluctant, but ultimately agrees to go. The thing is, Mia has loved Wyatt almost as long as she’s known him. He broke her heart when he decided to up and move back home and hasn’t spoken to her since. Mia decides that she’s going to make this trip count and show Wyatt exactly what he’s missing while trying to keep her heart from breaking all over again. There’s just one little (big) thing, she’s got a secret she’s kept from him. Can she and Wyatt start something special, or will this secret destroy any possibility of a relationship between them?
Wyatt is charming, sincere and very romantic. Mia is a strong female, but very guarded. She’s afraid of the feelings she has for Wyatt and of the secret she still hasn’t yet revealed to him. Her character was easily relatable.
What I loved about this story was the support of the secondary characters. Wyatt’s family is hard-working and fun-loving. I want to know more about them and the people of this quaint Montana town!
THE DOCTOR’S CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL is a quality read full of heart!

The Doctor's Christmas Proposal by Eve Gladdy - Christmas Romance
Dr. Wyatt Gallagher was used by a conniving woman who lied to him that the baby she carried was his. Her cruelty had sent Wyatt in a tailspin. Who to turn to then his best friend Mia Watson. Mia has loved Wyatt forever. A little tipsy on Wyatt's part and wishful thinking on Mia's, things get hot and heavy. The next week Wyatt moves back home to Marietta, Montana. Wyatt's brother is getting married and another brother with the birth of a new baby on the way, how is he to get through it all? Only one person comes to mind, Mia. He calls her and convinces her to come visit for a week. It is so fun to watch because neither one knows the others feelings. I wanted this book because it is the third book with the Gallagher's, and I really enjoyed revisiting the others. It does not need to be read with the others. I enjoyed the small town holiday charm this leaves you with and the warm and happy feelings of a good book.
"The Doctor's Christmas Proposal" by Eve Gaddy is book number three in the "Gallaghers Montana" series. This is Dr. Wyatt Gallagher and Mia Watson's story.
Wyatt and Mia have been friends for years. Mia has been in love with him but never told Wyatt. One night their friendship crossed the line then Wyatt suddenly moved back home to Marietta. Wyatt couldn't forget their night together. He calls Mia and convinces her to come to Marietta for Christmas. Will Wyatt convince Mia to take a chance on love? Will the secret that Mia has kept from Wyatt destroy their chance at love?
This is a sweet and steamy friends to lovers romance. I enjoyed Wyatt and Mia's story. The Gallagher family is a fun group. The author did a great joy of making the reader feel like the characters are friends.
FYI, includes mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
3.5 Keeping Secrets Stars
The Doctor's Christmas Proposal was a good read. I enjoy the friends to lovers trope when done right. It isn't that this one was done wrong or anything. I just didn't really feel the friendship between Wyatt and Mia. They haven't even talked in a long while when the books starts. They are suppose to be best friends for years but he didn't even know that her parents are dead. So it didn't feel like friends to lovers it felt like a love story between people of acquaintance. The story was still sweet and enjoyable just not what I expected. Mia was okay for me, but I didn't like that she hid things from Wyatt for so long. Although in a way I could understand why she did. Wyatt was likable and charming. Overall it was a cute, easygoing, quick read with a little holiday fun thrown in. I liked the ending and I do plan on reading Dylan's book when it comes out.
Third in the Gallaghers of Montana series, The Doctor's Christmas Proposal is a sweet story of second chances. The pace is pretty quick and the story is action-packed, with a new baby, a wedding and a family Christmas all thrown into the mix. Both Mia and Wyatt are likeable characters, each with their own set of insecurities based on a particularly nasty experience Wyatt had in Denver shortly before he moved back to Marietta.
I enjoyed this story and am looking forward to the next one in the series.
Book Review: The Doctor's Christmas Proposal by Eve Gaddy
The Gallagher's of Montana
This might be a Christmas story, but “The Doctor’s Christmas Proposal” by Eve Gaddy is a good read the whole year round. The third book in “The Gallagher’s of Montana” series follows Dr. Wyatt Gallagher and his best friend Mia Watson.
Evocative of the now classic movie “When Harry Meets Sally,” Eve Gaddy tackles the question “Can a man and woman truly be just friends” in her latest book. The answer is not simple and the author explains and expounds through Wyatt and Mia who have to find their happily ever after amidst the heartaches they share.
A feel good book that tugs at your heartstring, “The Doctor’s Christmas Proposal” is signature Eve Gaddy with its laugh out loud funny moments and cleansing tears rolled into one.
“The Doctor’s Christmas Proposal” is Rated T for Teens.
It was a descriptive book without being too "wordy". The story could have used a little more drama, but all in all it was a short, sweet story.
This was such a sweet romantic read. Loved the characters but got a bit frustrated with Wyatt making too much of a big deal when it was his fault to begin with. But romantic book all the same.
Another great Christmas story in Marietta, Montana.
This is story of Dr. Wyatt Gallagher and his best friend Mia.
Wyatt moved to Montana after breaking up with his fiancee and calls Mia out of blue and invites her to Marietta for his brother’s wedding.
Mia and Wyatt has been best friends and Mia has been in love with him. One night when Wyatt broken up with his fiancee, they spent a memorable night together but it was only night and consequence after that left her more heartbreak.
Wyatt wanted more than friendship and he is planning to woo her while she is in Montana. Mia and Wyatt finally explores their feelings but Mia fears her secret may break both of their hearts again.
Will Mia finally be happy with him??
I read the first part of this book but I didn't feel that it was something i could read the entirety of as I found it slow. Although I am a fan of the author so will look for books by her in the future.
What to say about a book that's just "ok"? It's not bad enough to be "meh" and not good enough to say "I like it". And it's all Wyatt's fault too! Wait, what? How is it all Wyatt's fault? He's the one who got betrayed. He's the one who's hurting.
But that's just it, I've seen Wyatt. He's been in other books. Either Wyatt is the best actor ever or he's not hurting. And yes, of course, he's pretty much over the whole thing but he's NOT HURTING. If you are going to do this you can't have a perfectly fine, even happy, Wyatt in previous books. He can't be fine one minute and recovering from unimaginable pain the next. And because I couldn't buy Wyatt and his issues, well, the whole book was thrown off.
If this had been just a friends to lovers story, I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more. Ah well, at least I'm really hoping for a good story for Glenna and Dylan.
