In particular, the successful reintroduction of Canadian gray wolves, beginning with the release of twenty-three wolves in 1995-96, is a highlight. Since the return of the wolves, the elk moved their grazing to higher ground, and tree seedlings in the valley are able to grow taller, and beavers use the trees to create the river dams that establish wetlands.
