Description

For more than five years now, passionate readers have relied on our twice-a-year Buzz Books to sample and discover new books from big authors and breakout talents through exclusive and substantial pre-publication excerpts. Right now, you can read almost 60 excerpts from the hottest books appearing this spring and summer.

Now we are offering the same robust publication in easier-to-digest monthly packages. You'll find exclusive excerpts of seven notable books due for publication during the month of April—but first check out our extensive preview of well over 100 new books of interest coming to market in the month ahead. At the end of most excerpts, you will find a link to the full galley on NetGalley!

Then turn to an exceptionally timely debut about a second American Civil War in 2074. The novel by Omar El Akaad describes what might happen if America were to turn its most devastating policies and deadly weapons upon itself. Nonfiction is represented by Radium Girls, an exposé of pioneering working women, who were poisoned by radium paint in the 1920s. Finally, young adult is well-represented this month by four novels and one memoir: Erin Chack, a Buzzfeed writer, chronicles her true story of surviving cancer with wit and wisdom. Other YA authors include Meg Haston, Jennifer Frick-Ruppert, Whitney Taylor, and Sara Zarr.

The new Buzz Books Monthlies are your first and best place to turn for a real insider's taste of what to read next, and what the book world will be talking about next month. We hope you enjoy the monthly Buzz Books—and keep an eye out for May Buzz Books available in April, along with the big biannual Buzz Books 2017: Fall/Winter, launching in May.

I really look forward to getting this every month. I love that some of the publishers send these out so we can get information on new releases. It's one thing I miss about no longer working in a bookstore.

These monthly Buzz Books really help me keep track of new books being released during the featured month. The excerpts are a great way to sample some new authors. I plan to feature several of these titles on my blog during the upcoming months.

I always devour these Buzz Books as soon as they are available. What an awesome way to get exposed to books you wouldn't normally look at. I requested one and wrote the rest down in my notebook to get later on. I love this idea of reading snippets of stories to see if you like the writing and the book.

The month of April has some exciting books coming out, and Buzz Books Monthly will get you hooked. After reading the excerpts, I'm already dying to read The End of Our Story by Meg Haston and Definitions of Indefinable Things by Whitney Taylor. I definitely recommend checking out this month's edition.

Thank you, Publisher's Lunch/Buzz Books and NetGalley!

Buzz Books are always a treasure and full of information we are just dying to get our hands and eyes on. Titles, authors, those all important dates; and the excerpts that just pull us in immediately. Just can't wait for each publication date!!! I want every title. Now!

I really like having these monthly updates -- if you have not requested one, you should. They are organized in a very useful manner, beginning with a list of titles deserving extra attention and then debut fiction and commercial fiction are shown, all with title, author and publisher name provided. Next comes non-fiction suggestions and finally, additional titles scheduled for release (by week) in April. Such a wide variety of publishers are noted that these Buzz Books Monthly have become my "go to" spot for starting collection development.

There is also usually about 6 or 7 excerpts from upcoming books. The April selections range from Omar El Akaad's AMERICAN WAR to Kate Moore's RADIUM GIRLS and Sara Zarr's GEM & DIXIE, all of which we will likely purchase.

I found this to be a great resource to find books that are upcoming. I recommend this book as a great companion to your reading Spring season.

Great glimpse at what's upcoming. Looking forward to the next edition.

What I really like about the Buzz Books is that you get a sense of many different books that you otherwise may not have picked up to try for yourself. Book summaries are good, but nothing it better than the first chapter or two to get you really excited for a book. In the April edition, the standouts for me were Killers of the Flower Moon, followed by Strout's Anything is Possible.

I look forward to the fall/winter edition of Buzz Books out in May.

Buzz Books is a great tool to see what books are being released in the month of April. It also includes several excerpts. These were previously published in Buzz Books 2017 Spring/Summer and the Buzz Books 2017 Young Adults Spring/Summer.

I look forward to reading these "Buzz Books" at the beginning of every month. I've discovered several books I probably wouldn't have read otherwise. I think that the way these books are formatted is fantastic. I like how they separate the excerpts into categories. I don't usually read all of these samples, and this makes it easier for me to find what I want. I usually go right for the debut fiction. They really have a great selection of books. There is literally something for everyone!

The book I'm looking forward to the most now is, American War by Omar El Akkad. I was absolutely hooked after reading the first few pages.

I always like looking at these. It gives me an idea of what to expect and which books to anticipate for each month. I also love seeing the official covers for each book. This month there was a pretty good selection and I am looking forward to many of them.

I love that they divided the Buzz Books Spring/Summer into monthly installments - it makes it much easier to see what books are publishing on a month-to-month basis. I enjoyed the excerpts from American War (by Omar El Akaad) and Radium Girls (by Kate Moore), both of which I had heard about before but now are higher on my TBR list. I also liked the lists in the beginning of a great number of books publishing this month - which were also organized by week - including Beartown (Fredrik Backman) and Waking Gods (Sylvain Neuvel). April is going to be a GREAT month for reading! :)
