As always, this lares edition of BuzzBooks fails to disappoint! I am so happy it was decided to continue the Romance genre editions - really looking forward to many of these titles!
When ever I see a new Buzz Books is available I run to it!! I love the idea of getting exposed to a book I normally wouldn't pick up. I have found wonderful new to me authors this way and it's so easy to request an ARC with the link at the end of each excerpt. I requested a few of them and wrote a bunch down to check out further! Thank you so much for doing this!! Keep up the good work!!
Great book selections!! I can't wait read the full novels!!
This was my first experience with Buzz Books, and I was delighted with the experience. There are so many good books to check out that span a wide variety of sub genres!
Love is in the air, and it's going to be one hot summer! Since joining Netgalley I've fallen in love with Romance again...the genre that is. There is such a diversity of voices offering many different options. I am loving discovering so many new voices, series, and being taken away to amazing locations while couples of every variety find that 'Happily Ever After'. As always Buzz Books and Publishers Lunch has put together an amazing compilation of exciting offerings from both established and new emerging talent. I absolutely can't wait for The View From Rainbow Bay by Colleen Coble, Blue Ridge Sunrise by Denise Hunter, and The Austen Escape by Katherine Reay.
This is such a great resource to use in order when deciding which books I want to add to my tbr and feature on my blog.
Outstanding batch of excerpts! I love the Buzz Books and how useful they are when developing my orders.
I was pleasantly surprised. I look forward to the next!
This is such a hot sampling of relevant, multi-sub-genre Romance titles! Collection Development Specialists will be assured that these selections are vetted and relevant to any and every library collection. Well done, Publishers Lunch. You always brings us the best!
I am not much inclined to read from the romance genre often but after experiencing this excellent buzz series on other upcoming books, I was curious to see what the best books are in the near future. I had great fun reading what was on offer and was definitely drawn to some. So pleased that I gave in to look at the selection here. Many thanks for this.
a good way to try out some of the new books coming our way.
I must admit that my favourite genre is historical romance novels so I was captivated by The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare. This storyline in the few short chapters provided was a delight. What struck me from the first few lines in the chapter was the clever and very witty writing. Emma Gladstone arrives at the estate of the Duke of Ashbury, demanding to be paid for making the wedding dress of the Duke’s former fiancée. The dress is abhorrent and the hilarious dialogue between Emma and the Duke makes their dynamics so believable. I particularly loved the scene where the Duke arrives at Emma’s work to have a dress fitting for himself, after Emma refuses his proposal of marriage. Ms Dare knows how to grab her audience!
However, I have now found a new author to love – Joanna Shupe. Her novel ‘A Daring Arrangement’ will prove to be very entertaining if the excerpt is anything to go by. Lady Honoria Parker has been sent to the US to separate her from the artist that she declares she is in love with. Her father has ordered that she return with an American husband. However, Honoria organises a false engagement with the notorious Julius Hunter. Both have their secrets for accepting this arrangement but neither party has declared their real reasons to the other. This is sure to be very interesting!
I am now intrigued by another novel especially as it is not my usual – a contemporary romance by Katherine Reay called ‘The Austen Escape’. The excerpt follows Mary Davies, an engineer who is facing several challenges at work: being fired by Karen and having feelings for Nathan, who has been brought into manage the growth of the battery technology at the company WATT, where she works. I am curious to see the link between the blurb given, where she accepts an invitation by her friend Isabel to stay at a house in Bath. When she arrives, she finds herself managing the household as her friend Isabel, loses her memory. How will Nathan fit into the storyline?
Of course, who could not love a novel by Eloisa James. This appears to be the first in a series of books following the Wildes of Lindow Castle. Lord Alaric has returned to London to find crowds of women clambering to see the famous adventurer. Miss Wilhelmina (Willa) Ffynche attends a Wilde gathering, to support her cousin, who is trying to avoid her fiancée, Lord Roland, brother of Alaric. Alaric has returned home, only to find his brother Roland, a different man since taking on the responsibilities of his deceased older brother, Horatius.
I can’t wait to read ‘A good day to marry a Duke’ by Betina Krahn. The excerpt follows American Daisy Bungarten who is sent to London in 1890, two years after her raucous behaviour at the Bellington Hunt in New York State. Daisy rode astride and drank whisky, ending any chance for her sisters and her to be accepted into society. Her mother, Elizabeth believes Daisy’s marriage into London gentry is the only salvation for the family but it appears likely, that Daisy’s venture into society will be interesting!
‘The Scotsman who saved me’ by Hannah Howell tells the story of Emily Stanton and Iain MacEnroy as outline in the blurb. However, the chapter provided outlines the story whereby Iain and his brothers uncover a couple, brutally murdered. What follows is a desperate search for the surviving child. Very intense but it would have been good to see how Emily is linked to the initial chapter.
Denise Hunter’s ‘Blue Ridge Sunrise’ sees Zoe Collins returning to Cooper Creek after the death of her grandmother. She soon discovers that her grandmother has left her a peach orchard. The excerpt gives a glimpse of the intricate relationship between Zoe and the main characters; Cruz, a past love, whose feelings are clearly obvious, and Kyle, Zoe’s boyfriend, who no=one seems to like. This packed a punch!
There were also many interesting novels including Action/romance ‘Going Dark’ by Monica McCarty, paranormal romance ‘Hot and Badgered’ by Shelly Laurenston and contemporary “The ones who got away’ by Roni Loren which follows Liv Arias and Finn Dorsey, survivors of a school shooting. They return for a reunion, only to realise that their feelings for each other at school, are still there.
This was such a great opportunity for me and I hope that people take note of all the latest romance novels available from many authors. Make sure to check out these great novels – you won’t be disappointed.
This edition has some great new books, many of which I have requested. Even though some did not grab my interest, I must say I did read more excerpts in this edition than in all others. Thanks again for the introduction to some real page turners.
love these Buzz books, helps me decided which book to read
I look forward to these being released every month. I always find things that interest me, that I had no idea were being published
As usual with Buzz Books collections, this one is full of interesting excerpts from books that I can't wait to get my hands on.
This is one of the best resources for bloggers, librarians etc because it gives you a sneak peek of upcoming titles that you might or might not know about. It allows you to read a preview of the book so you can decide if you want to purchase this. I have discovered many hidden gems in these books.

*This in no way influences my review*
In order to offer a completely fair review, I've broken it down into two parts...
5 Stars for concept:
I love the entire idea behind these Buzz Books and plan on making them must haves as I see them become available from now on. This volume offers 18 excerpts from romance novels that are upcoming releases from between 8/22/17 and 3/27/18. The excerpts are from a wide variety of romantic sub-genres and include at times just a prologue to as many as three chapters. I had a blast discovering new authors and upcoming titles that I wasn't even aware were coming out. Highly recommended.
3 Stars for overall content:
There were quite a few titles in this volume of Buzz Books that I instantly wanted to purchase. A few of the big ones to look out for included:
(Excerpts I gave 5 stars to)
-- The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare - 8/22/17
-- Can't Hardly Breathe by Gena Showalter - 8/29/17
(Excerpts I gave 4 stars to)
-- Into the Night by Cynthia Eden - 12/26/17
-- Wilde in Love by Eloisa James - 10/31/17
-- A Good Day to Marry a Duke by Betina Krahn - 11/28/17
-- The Ones Who Got Away by Roni Loren - 1/2/18
-- Monster in the Closet by Karen Rose - 8/29/17
-- A Daring Arrangement by Joanna Shupe - 10/31/17
There were others that piqued my interest and maybe it just didn't have that hook because the excerpt was shorter than I'd hoped or some that weren't my cup of tea, but overall this was a great batch of excerpts with tons to look forward to.
Overall I give this 4 Stars
If for no other reason, you should pick this one up because it offers a FREE glance at a variety of upcoming titles for you to be on the look out for.
Side note: No where could I find a page count for this book. It makes sense considering it's excerpts taken from a ton of different sources, but according to some conversion tables I found for Kindle location to page count, it is roughly 435 pages for anyone wondering.
This is a great collection of excerpts of upcoming and published romance books in 2017.
It contains an introduction followed by a section with a section of Historical, Romantic Suspense, Contemporary, and Paranormal Romance. After that there are summary and excepts by publishers. I particularly enjoyed the excerpt for THE DUCHESS DEAL by Tessa Dare.
Overall, a great list of buzzing romance titles for 2017.
An excellent and well-varied peak at what's coming up. There are some intriguing titles on here, and some of the series continuations are ones that I would definitely recommend to patrons.
What a wonderful collections of Romance Novels.
Each author had me engaged and excited for these future books. Wonderful Authors that I love and enjoy have some wonderful books coming that are on my too read list.
Eloisa book I've already read as I received an ARC and it was WONDERFUL!!! A must read.
The sneak peak from the other authors also seemed good and have me excited for their publication.
If you're looking for some inspiration on what to read and/or review next, this is fab. Shall definitely be keeping my eye out for some of these reads.
What a great edition of Buzz Books! Looking forward to reading the full versions.
Useful romance sampler from various publishers. Nice mix of historical and contemporary. Looking forward to reading all of these books in full when they're released. Shelly Laurenston and Tessa Dare's books stand out. Useful to librarians looking for new series or new authors to try.
Wonderful title selections & authors who are excellent in what they do!
Great publication giving us a sneak peak of some awesome books coming our way soon! I like that we get a taste of all genres in this edition. A great intro to some authors I didn't know as well!
I always look forward to these Buzz Books. I enjoy getting to know different authors that I may not normally read and getting the excerpts from some of the novels gives just enough of a taste to want to read more. I really enjoy that the link is included for purchasing the novel for each excerpt so if I read one that I really want to finish, I can immediately continue after I purchase it. I often use this book as a starting point for the books I plan to read for the next few months and am rarely disappointed in the recommendations that are listed. It's like a travel guide for book lovers!
I enjoyed this taster of th3 many varieties of Romance genres that are now available. My favourites included The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare; Into the Night by Cynthia Eden and Hot and Badgered by Shelly Lauren's tonight. I would have appreciated the chance to read more of these and may purchase them in the future.
great selection of stories and authors. I love getting a sneaky glimpse at the books that are yet to hit the shelves.
Buzz Books are a great way to preview coming books. In this case, the Fall 2017 Romances. This edition is full of intriguing sounding romances which calls to you to request them all!
Very interesting read, started reading it for one particular author, ended up reading them all and found a bunch more series to start reading.
The selections in this sampler cover a very wide range of romance sub-genres, a great choice for those who (like me) are looking to expand their choices and try something new, as well as for those who already enjoy reading many different types of romances.
I think this is a great concept in previewing upcoming romances. There are different romance genres, favorite authors and new to me authors to discover. Since my favorite magazine source for romances is no more, it is harder to find out what is coming soon. I can't read every newsletter by publishers and authors, there are so many. This gives you a glimpse of popular authors all in one place. Nice!
Love these Buzz books! They give a synopsis of books about to be published and tell you where to find them. You can review the latest offerings by your favorite authors or read what a new one has to offer. A very handy guide.
This guide/book was perfect. It gave an excerpt and/or the first chapter of up coming books. This was perfect!! One book with release information. I wish this was something done more often instead of having to search for info on upcoming releases or hoping something pops up in your email or Facebook feed.
Buzz Books let you sample what is coming up, however I can't do this because I want most of them, and just keep adding to wish list.
Very good mixture of different romances. It introduced me to a few new authors and reintroduced me to a few I used to read. Really liked the Shelly Laurenston excerpt.
Fantastic selections of titles as always, great to know about all the new Buzz Books.
This is a fun little book with exerpts from new books in the romance genre. It gives readers just a taste of a story from favorite authors, or from authors new to them. It's a great way to find new books to enjoy, see what a favorite author has coming, and to read something from an author new to the reader.
I love romance samplers because I can check in with subgenres and tropes I would normally skip and see if they've grown on me. My favorite this time around is The Austen Escape - I usually shy away from modern/Regency mixes but the first chapter has me sold!
This is a great concept where a reader gets "sneak peaks." I got some suggestions to read authors that would not have normally been on my radar..
I'm usually not into romance, but these teasers really put me in the mood for some!
A great idea. Pick and mix and read extracts of books you might not normally select.
.
Not sure what to say about these. To review each preview or just this book...
The books chosen for this were all by talented authors and I cannot wait for them to be released.
This is a great sample of new fall releases in several genres.
E
Great source for new book discovery. Help to focus on specific books or authors to watch for.
Nice mix in here of stories - some in subgenres that I don't really read - but there are a couple here that I definitely want to read more of - so I've requested a few and will probably buy a couple too.
If you love romance, this is a book worthy of your attention! It gives excerpts of upcoming romance books that will be published. I enjoyed reading the samples as it tells me who I might want to read if I don't know the author. It also helps me to be able to tell my friends about new romance books coming out in 2017.
I look forward to this book every year. It's a wonderful way to get a view of different books to read .
An informative and concise guide about 2017 Romance books.
This shed some light on many different titles that I can't wait to read!
Thanks for the opportunity to sample several new-to-me authors in this buzz books compilation.
A not to be missed catalogue of the best Romance titles up and coming with excepts, as always, to check out beforehand.
I enjoyed the Romance edition of Buzz Books. I found some new authors I am interested in reading more of and some titles that I will definitely be checking out.
I love this book. Each author/book is given just enough space to get you hooked. Each books begins with a synopsis of the book and then begins at the beginning. Several of the authors I had never read and it is always exciting to find new authors in the genre I like to read. The only problem is which one to buy and read first.
Authors renowned for one genre are stepping into another genre. There's a lot of romantic suspense--contemporary, contemporary Western and inspirational. You'll find historical romance in a variety of time frames, including some new directions from beloved authors, plus one with a touch of suspense. Beyond genre and subgenre, romance aficionados will find favorite themes, too--second chance at love; Beauty and the Beast; enemies to lovers; unrequited love. This sampler has nearly every subgenre, too--historical romances set in different eras and some with a touch of paranormal. The book is amazing. When I started reading I couldn't put it down I reading the book. They are the magnifysent writers.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work.
The book is great to check previews of upcoming romance books. It gives a excerpt of each of the books. A good way to see if you would enjoy a certain new to you author. I see a few books I would for sure put on my list to check out.
I always enjoy reading the different excerpts and finding new favorite novels and authors.
This is an excellent reference guide to know what new publications will be coming out soon in one of my (and maybe yours) favorite genre: romance. It gives you access to multiple excerpts and can help you chose which books you want to read and define your TBR.
This was a great taste of romances being published. It was useful for scoping out things I'd like to read and review.
A good guide to up and coming romances.
Enticing excerpts and introductions to works I’m looking forward to reading and new authors I haven’t yet read.
I always look forward to and enjoy reading the Buzz Books Monthly about upcoming releases! I usually find myself adding many of the featured books to my "to read" list on GoodReads. This edition wasn't any different. This edition got me particularly interested in Misadventures of a City Girl, Seeing Red, The Woman Who Couldn't Scream, and Monster in the Closet.
This was great to get a good idea of what is coming from some new to me authors.
Buzz Books are always a pleasure, and I snatch them up as quickly as possible.
Recently I have been trying to expand the types of books that I read, so seeing that there was a new Buzz Books specifically for Romance, seemed like a great place to start finding recommendations.
I was not disappointed. The variety of types of Romance novels makes this a great place to start building a TBR list.
Over all, I was quite surprised to find that a large number of these novels seem to be romance thrillers, rather than strictly romance as I expected. I found the romance/thrillers to be the most appealing personally.
The books that I am most excited about are:
The Duchess Deal- Tessa Dare. I have read one of Dare's books previously and I must say, this woman is laugh out loud funny. Like snorting-on-public-transit-trying-to-swallow-a-laugh funny. One line in the preview that grabbed my attention was "Charming princes weren't always what they seemed. Shining armor went out of fashion with the crusades. And if fairy Godmothers existed, hers was running several years late". The story looks super fun. Charming, funny, just what I like in a romance read.
Blue Ridge Sunrise- Denise Hunter. I am a major sucker for lost loves reuniting. And family dramas. And stories about surprise, unwanted inheritance. Well, this book has all of that, and a rude boyfriend. I can hardly wait to read it.
Pretend You're Safe - Alexandra Ivy. Last but not least, Pretend You're Safe seems like the perfect thriller. The flooded setting makes me want to curl up with a warm blanket and a cup of tea. Not to mention the author had me nervous just in this brief preview about washed up bodies and a serial killer watching his prey from VERY VERY near by. I'm considering this one a must read.
As always, NOT disappointed by Buzz Books! Even though it was 2017 titles I want to get them all! They look so interesting! I have to get most of them!
Love stories, who doesn't like those?! You find here summaries, not just a few lines but pages, to make sure you will or won't love a book!
The list goes on and on! Just to name a few I want to read from this "buzz books" : Cowboy's legacy, Wilde in love, Mess with me, Hot and Badgered, a daring arrangement,... ... ...
Just wow! I want to read most of them, if not ALL of them but there is just so much time ;)
Review shared online and on NetGalley, Twitter, Goodreads...
Ah the Romance Book Buzz. Okay, I was a little late on this one. Most of the books were already out by the time I read it, but still helpful. I found a lot of books I really wanted to read and the best part was I could actually just go out and get them right then!
