Description
Corporate fixer Rena Gordon needs to wrench a Canadian resort out of the
red in time for the Canadian-American Winter Games—but employees bent
on sabotage are blocking her every move. When her loose-cannon sister
arrives after being kicked out of yet another school, Rena must face the
past she's worked so hard to hide, while fighting her attraction to a
local fishing guide.
CIA agent Neal Jackson is undercover as a
fishing guide to find terrorists at Big Bay. He needs Rena's confidence
to access her employee files without exposing his identity, but despite
his vow to keep a professional distance, his feelings for her are
anything but businesslike.
Caught between vengeful employees, a
sister who likes to party, and a hot CIA agent—Rena’s corporate training
didn't prepare her for this. Can she trust her instincts to save the
people and resort she's grown to love?

Overall a good story. I liked the different side stories that tied in together at the end. Would have liked more of the insight of the crooks from the resort though, as they seemed more of an aside, but yet had such a powerful impact. I liked Rena and Neal as characters, but thought more could have been explained to show the attraction between them. To be honest, there didn't seem to be a lot of spark. Still, I highly recommend this book, and liked it for the most part. A lot of details, with Islamic terrorism, crooks, Olympics, etc. A lot swirling around the story, and helps the story to clip along nicely.
Last Resort is a well written book. I enjoyed the plot, characters and the setting.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story of espionage and relationships which takes place in Canada. A "fixer" Rena Gordon must pull a resort from the brink of bankruptcy, while dealing with her incorrigible sister who shows up unexpectedly. If that wasn't enough to deal with, someone is also trying to sabotage the Canadian-American Games which could be the break that the resort has been looking for! Can Rena solve the problem of the resort and her sister at the same time? And find romance too? You can expect a lot from The Last Resort...and you won't be disappointed!
Set in the least likely local for a romance with intrigue story...there could be worse places than a fishing resort...there are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing up until the very end...predictable this story is not!
With romance interlaced into the tension of the intrigue, it is unlikely you’d have a difficult time not wanting to get to the end. The ending is very satisfying and left me feeling like I was part of the cast of characters and had a vested interest in to outcome.
