This debut collection of poetry delves into budding love as it progresses through its withering and eventual disintegration, providing a sense of closure for readers in its culmination.
I didn't think this book would break my heart more than it did the first, second, and third time I read it.
The revised and expanded edition of The Last Time I'll Write About You featured poems that tore my heart open and forced it to spill its deepest secrets that I tried to hard to keep within me.
I am not complaining.
I loved this book before, and I love it even more today. It's a knife I would stab on my chest over and over again because the more my heart bleeds, the more it heals.
It's amazing, how much of myself is in this book. So much that I almost feel like it was written for me. So much that it earned a rating I only give to books that mean so much to me.
An infinity symbol.
No, make that two.
The Last Time I'll Write About You is a poetry collection that will stay in my heart forever and whatever lies beyond that.
This is for those who gave love a chance and got hurt.
This is for those who gave love a chance and ended up broken.
This is for those gave love a chance-
-and tried again.
Wow, what a great collection. I don't really read poetry, I can appreciate it but I don't seek it out really, but I've read Dawn's novella and loove romance class books. And i've heard great things about this poetry collection, so when i heard it was up on Netgalley I figured ok, give this one a chance, what could it hurt?
And wow wow this was a quick read but these poems, i loved them! They show the progression of a relationship and heart breaaaaaaak! It resonated, and I definitely felt the emotions coming off the page
Also, while reading these I imagined them as songs cuz that's just how my brain works apparently. but truly, set these to music and let the sobbing begin. Not that they aren't emotional enough like this because they are! But i just read them like they were songs hehe
Enjoyed these alot!
This was a really beautiful collection of love themed poetry. It was lovely to work through in the week, and I'll definitely be rereading it to pick up on bits I missed first time

Another book I was having fun reading them. I read this one only in one sitting. yeahh, I did. :)) When I read the very first page I thought "Ahhh this one would be such a heartbroken book to read". And it turned out it was. It was like a girl who just being 'dumped' by her boyfriend when she's head over heels the guy. I could feel it though.
I'm a girl, myself. So I know how it felt like. Hurts a lot !! Hell yeah.. Ahh, okay enough. I fell in love with the book since the very first word I read. I couldn't put it down, even only for seconds. So if you're looking for poetry books, this one would be very recommended !!
This is a collection of poems that take the reader through the journey of love and relationships. It starts from that flutter of the heart, to the pull, then the infatuation, the reality, the heartbreak and the acceptance after.
I loved these poems because I've been in love, I've been loved, heartbroken, remorseful, hopeful and I've also come to accept that love is not to be caged. There is one line that stuck with me because I've asked it so many times "When did we become such a bad idea?"
I'd recommend this to anyone who's ever been in love or who loves the idea of love. It's worth a read. I'm glad to have received a copy of this book from NetGalley. It gave me all the #feels.
I devoured this. It's a quick/short read. I wish there were more!
This is a beautiful collection about words I wish I knew how to say. I love poetry, and poems about love / feelings that stem from love / loss is always something that a person can read and relate to. There are poems in here that felt like things that were written for me, or about things I am currently feeling / going through. I love that.
It's worth checking out, for sure. :)

I received this ebook from NetGalley for my honest opinion
Dawn. Let me tell you gurl. You took me there and I'm unsure why you left me!!! Lol. I love these poems. They showed me that, yeah, there's heartache and a lot of tough times. But they are just mini hills that we have to get over. I appreciate you being able to put words to your feelings because reading poetry this is my therapy and helps me stay sane. Thanks again

I'm not familiar with this poet, but found I quite enjoyed the writing style. The cover design is good and would make me want to pick it up. The emotions described were very relatable and I found I sat down and read the book cover to cover.
4 out of 5 stars
I thoroughly enjoyed this. I felt like I was going through a breakup. I felt such longing in her words. She reminds me so much of Lang Leav who is one of my favorite poets. I would definitely be interested in another poetry collection by her.
This book shredded my heart into pieces. I believe that this book is the book that you should read to feel emotions at a higher level. I really suggest reading it especially if you liked the premise of the book before hand.
The Last Time I’ll Write About You is Dawn Lanuza’s first poetry collection and I loved it! The Last Time I’ll Write About You is a poetry collection about first love and the break up afterwards. This is the perfect collection because all the poems are so relatable.
The Last Time I’ll Write About You is such a beautiful poetry collection. I’m still new in the poetry genre but this is by far one of the best ones I have read. I cannot wait to read more of Dawn Lanuza’s work and here are the titles of my favourite poems:
Sunbeam
The Object Of My
Truth
And Now I’m Ruined
Consistency
6 A.M.
Other Means Of Communication
Unasked Question
Notice Of Eviction
The Pensieve
Aurora
It was a fairly quick read, although I did prolonged it because I was reading a few books at a time. This collection centers on love, love loss, and the road to recovery from a broken heart. Personally, I did not connect with it because believe it or not I've never been in a relationship, but I did feel a tug on my heartstrings as I read this.
The poems are rather simple and I feel like it could use a tiny bit more spark, for the lack of better word. I did find some to be quite repetitive, but there are a few that really got my attention. For example, In Hindsight.
"Darkness is a friend
We've been long acquainted
It was nice knowing your light
But I could not be mended.
Sadness is a cloak
I wear around my shoulders
You let the sun soak
On my skin to recover.
But the dark, it remains
And you were slowly fading
You bring the sun,
But it keeps on setting."
-Dawn Lanzua
In a way I was able to relate to this due to my long lasting depression and the unfortunate drifting apart of a best friend.
Overall, it was okay it didn't move me as much as other poetry I've read recently, but it I did like a few of them. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I have heard it is similar to Lang Leav's poetry.
I love the story this poetry collection told. From love to sadness to awakening, just beautiful.
If there is one poem , okay make it two .. please do read "bottom Line" and "Truth" . Actually read every single one and you will find a piece of your heart in this book. Really good collection. Loved reading this.
I'd been meaning to read this one for a while now, and wow does this one not pull its punches.
It starts fairly slowly, kinda innocently and lack lustre. To me, at least. Just long enough to lull you into a false sense of security, I'm thinking now with hindsight. Because after the first maybe 3 or 4 poems, it's like, BAM. Onto the feels.
There isn't a trigger warning list that comes along with this collection, but the collection as a whole tells of a story between lovers who have fallen apart. Love has broken down on 'his' side and, while it's taken longer for 'her' to fall out of love, this is the vehicle that's been chosen.
There are just so many individual, relatable poems in this collection, both in short form and longer poetry forms. Rhyming and not. It was exactly the right length for what it was.
I love poetry books and I'm excited that these are becoming popular as of late. These poems were great and I enjoyed all of them as a whole. I hope there's another collection from her.
Full of feeling and emotion, this poetry collection reads like a compelling, heartbreaking and enticing story of love and loss.
A wonderful read.
"How many times do I have to break my heart before I get it right?"
This is another one of those poetry collections that really hit me where it hurts. In my opinion, a book is only good if it made you FEEL something. Well written and relatable. Loved it.
This is by no means the most poignant of poetry collections, not that I would even necessarily call these poems, but this book was still very enjoyable. It was a very quick read, full of beautifully written lines about love and heartbreak, which I'm sure will resonate with a lot of readers. I would definitely recommend this to fans of Lanuza's previous works. New readers who are familiar with authors like Lang Leav will also find this collection quite to their liking.
Although this topic has been covered many times before, this was a raw take on breakups. It was brutal and honest with closure at the end. It just seems a bit too familiar for 5 stars.
"I told you once, maybe someday I'll write about you."
Dawn Lanuza portrays the feelings of heartbreak and longing in its most raw and poetic form. The short verses contain so much feeling and love, teaching us how love isn't something that can always be done right the first time. Exposing us to the pains and aching of a broken heart, Dawn truly tells of all the faults that come from loving someone and losing them.
I would recommend this to all those who prefer the light, quick poems that revolve around romantic angst.
The main focus is on contemporary romantic feelings of heartbreak, and sorrow and anguish that comes along with it. Most of the poems were kinda synonymous to the quick ones I come across while scrolling through Tumblr, so while they were nice to read, they didn't have a spark. (Not saying Tumblr poems don't have a spark, please don't take things in their unintended way) A few were really good and I felt myself get more piqued at the one-liners that were frequently placed in between a few poems. They were genuinely nice. Other than the content, I'll also point out that the formatting is quite aesthetic and I liked how there were a few sketches whenever a new part starts. I know many poetry books are aesthetically pleasing but I want to mention how this one 'looked' good to me, and in a way, made the whole experience better.
Milk and Honey really set me up for failure. It led me to believe I could be a poetry reader.
I don't know if it's just me, or if these poems really are bad. So, I'm giving it a three rating, because I don't want to deter anyone else from finding out for themselves.
I loved that it was direct and honest but for my taste it lacked a bit of... flourish, maybe? All in all, a bittersweet poetry collection about how to deal with (losing your) first love
I couldn't really relate to the topics, but I really enjoyed the writing style, and the poems were overall touching.
I read poetry mostly out of curiosity. I only read READ Neruda's poetry. Noticing that connection to her collections' book title, I am very interested in checking her work. I may not have experienced having my heart broken (thank God) but I can still relate to her writings. I have no doubt the Filipinas would certainly enjoy them. The general Filipino public is not a poetry reader, so I'm hoping the marketing team behind the book could reach those untapped market.
The book is internationally available and I'm guessing it will be a hit overseas. I have noticed a couple of contemporary poets' works circling the readers' community, this will become one of them. I will definitely buy a copy of this book. I only hope Filipino readers would too. I think with enough social media presence in the country this book would reach teenage and young adult readers.
You may not be into poetry but you will enjoy this one, this is a good start to dip your toes into it. I am happy Filipino writers are starting to enter the publishing scene, and poetry at that. I hope Lanuza's works will encourage young readers to read local writers' work because the other only Filipino writer I know that is popular in the current book community is Melissa de la Cruz.
"I don't think you think of me
The way I think of you
For you do so only sporadically
While I have you in me
Constantly"
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL poem. this book gave me so many goosebumps and made a few almost-tears threaten to spill down my cheeks. The short and very concise wording of this collection makes me so happy that not a lot of unnecessary stuff was taken out of the book, and only the very heart warming (and breaking) bits were kept! It talks about how love can change us, while in a relationship and its aftermath. The way apologies threaten to spill out of lovers lips but are stopped by a force of pride with a mix of hurt and anger.
It involved a poem named Northern Star that is probably one of my favourites ever! The idea of looking up to the same sky as a lover and wishing that the pull of the universe could just lead them back to you.
Another notion in this collection of poetry, albeit a very sad one is the feeling overwhelment. The feeling of having TOO MUCH of a thought for someone, and learning to slowly take small bites.
The last bit I'll talk about it the poem named "Mystery Solved"
"I think you loved me
And I loved you
But we never really did
At the same time."
This brought me to tears, I love the simplicity of the words, and the way they hit so close to home. Star-crossed to a whole new level.
This piece is so well crafted, concise and brings someone to reality really fast.
I enjoyed this poesy collection.
It hit me right in the feels and I had a really good time reading it.
All in all, it was just really relatable and made me feel a lot of different things...
My 2 star rating is because I personally did not connect with it. This book is a poetry book focusing mostly on break ups. I picked this book up because I have previsously gone through break ups, so I assumed I would feel a connection to this book. Sadly that was not the case for me. However I do think people that are currently going through a break up, might enjoy this.
I think the concept of focusing the book on break ups was a good idea. Unfortunately I felt that it fell flat after a while. The poems blends a bit together, and I end up feeling like nothing really stuck with me. There was a few poems that I felt I had heard before, only slightly different. Some of those poems were:
"How many times do I have to break my heart before I get it right?"
"I think you loved me
And I loved you
But we never really did
At the same time"
There was two poems in this collection I connected with. I am currently in a long distance relationship, and these two poems reminded me of our relationship. The two poems are called 6AM and STILL.
In conclusion I found this book to be lacking in originality, and not relatable for me personally. I do recommend this book if you have just come out of a relationship.
I read the The Last Time I'll Write About You when it was still in its first version and I absolutely loved it! Now, it has a revised and updated version and I also love this edition! So happy that this book is going to have more exposure and going to be available internationally!
