She is a young woman trying to put the tragedy of her past behind her. He is a modern-day warrior with a promise to fulfil. Two people thrown together even though their worlds couldn’t be further apart.
When Sophie McAllister finds a handsome stranger on her doorstep, nothing can prepare her for the news he is about to deliver. What follows is the disintegration of a life she has carefully rebuilt. When catastrophe strikes, she is left with little choice other than to put her trust in Ahran Elessar, her mysterious visitor who harbours an extraordinary secret. Together they embark on a journey that not only threatens everything she holds dear, but also challenges her innermost fears. Does Sophie have the courage to defy her enemies, face her demons and open her heart to a man who promises a future that is out of this world?
An enthralling tale of love, loss and courage set against an exotic backdrop of far flung places, vengeful enemies and hidden dangers.
Advance Praise
Intriguing and suspenseful. I have now read the whole series and I loved it. I actually hated to see it end. When the fantasy/sci-if started it just added to the allure. I loved the character development and I really loved a few of the characters, especially Toby (and disliked a few, lol). I really liked some of the technical advances in Tagan’s country (I’ll let you read those for yourself). You can expect intrigue, love, some gorgeous warriors (therefore battles), a reversal of circumstances and a lot of adventure. Plus, the fantasy/sci-fi aspect, which I loved. I recommend the series. I’ll read it again next year.

You never know what life's going to throw your way and this book is proof of all that and more.
We are introduced to Sophie who is raising Toby. He's eight years old and it's been a year since his mom died. When Ahran, a stranger, shows up on her doorstep telling her that they might be in danger and turns out that Tagan, Toby's absentee of a Father, is of royal heritage. There were certain instances that I felt the pace slow down, but all in all, it's a good read. You've got the chase, the intrigue, the definite tension between Sophie and Ahran and the never ending "what if's" that she asks herself.
I got this eARC off NetGalley and is it just me or does the cover image remind me of Emma Watson, aka Hermoine?
Very interesting take on parallel universe and alien observation. Especially enjoyed the gate travel, reminded me of fae lore in my childhood. The characters are diverse and what begins as a story of a single aunt taking care of her orphaned nephew quickly changes to become the frantic search for the kidnapped child, with a blossoming romance.. Page turner. Have already downloaded the other books in the series.
