I can see my crochet hooks will be put to good use in making some of these wonderful children's animal rugs and matching accessories.. I know my youngest grandson will love the Dinosaur and my youngest granddaughter, the Kitty Cat. I myself rather like the elephant. The instructions appear to be easy to follow. There are good general techniques, such as blocking and non-slip lining.
Unless it's my Kindle, there does appear to be some illustrations missing, especially at the beginning of the book. Could be the formatting, but the main thing was that there were enough illustrations to see what a particular rug looked like and all the instructions were absolutely fine.
I would like to thank Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy. This is my honest review.
I really like Crochet Animal Rugs! The instructions are clear, and there are graphs provided for almost every single pattern. There's an excellent glossary and basic stitch instructions at the back for reference.
My only quibble is a minor one. I found it unusual that the book starts with the most complicated pattern and works its way back to the easier patterns. And there aren't really many "easier" patterns in the book at all -- most require some advanced skills.
Ira Rott has created some really adorable designs here, and I think the book would be worth the price for the Elephant patterns alone. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who likes to crochet sweet little animal designs. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
Thank you to NetGalley and F+W Media for a DRC of this book.
I've been dying to make the elephant rug that's in this book for months now. It's literally the reason I started improving my crocheting skills. Finding a book that included it and it's matching accessory, as well as the many other rug/floormat patterns and their accessories was a total score.
And they are defiantly worth the hype! Not only is each pattern written out, but it's also charted, so it's available in whatever is best for you. There are also tips for those who crochet left handed.
Cannot wait to get started!
This book was a wonderful surprise! My daughter is the one who loves to crochet and right after having read the book, she asked me to go online and look up the author. Turns out that the author has a website where I found the next patterns to fall in love with....
This book has quite a number of patters for really cute and loveable looking rugs and pillows and bags and...other things inside. The explanations and instructions are well done and easy to follow.
Apart from the patterns themselves, there are also very helpful general explanations and instructions on how to crochet and different sewing and crochet techniques involved.
All those projects are really sweet and will brighten a child's room and I am very positive that the kids will fall in love with them. Those rugs and the pillows and other things that go along with them are sweet and charming and also not too difficult to make.
