Beautifully illustrated and creatively written. I loved the diversity of the babies and the sweet poem that accompanies each picture. Perfect for bedtime reading and cuddles!
This is a delightful picture book for parents to read to their young children that conveys the love they have for them. Children of all hues are included, so there is inclusion. And each page has both animals and humans to compare them to.
All the daily things that go with taking care of a baby are included, including cleaning a babies bum.

You're my little hedgehog baby
When I wipe your bum.
Curled up in a hedgehog ball,
Until the cleanup's done.

Pictures are lovely, in what looks like cut paper collage.

Recommended to parents and libraries, as a wonderful, inclusive book for all children.

This is SO cute! Really, the babies in this book are so cute! The writing is mostly ok, but it works well enough with the art and the art is BEAUTIFUL. Beautifulllll I mean it. It’s like Faith Ringgold and Eric Carle decided to do a modern day take and be culturally relevant to 2018. Or something of a mish mash like that. I love all the different babies done in this collage style. It is so simple and yet has such amazing little details. Also, as someone who has been spending quite a bit of time with babies, all of the activities and comparisons with little animals (being curled like a hedgehog during diaper changing) are all super relatable. It’s nice to see current toys, baby tools ( in the bath, laying during tummy time) that make this book feel like its present day and not one of the outdated classic baby books (which are also great but not the same type of fresh mirror). I loved this one reading it alone, and I am excited to read it to a baby! I hope this book comes out in board book form so that it can be easily gifted... and then chewed on and read lots and lots with some of the babies in my life.
Ashley Barron's Love You Head to Toe is a great, little book that show babies curling, crawling, eating, so much like different baby animals do. Good descriptions, although more for the adult than the toddler. Pictures however are so cute and I am certain children will enjoy looking at them. As they grow they will talk about what the baby and the animal is doing. Looks like it would be a great board book. This book is due to come out in mid-March, one I will certainly find for my grandbaby.
Many thanks to Owlkids Publishing and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this selection. Excellent!

I am a new mom and this book is great; I will be purchasing for my baby.
The book has delightful pictures that parents can read to infants, toddlers, children to convey to them how much they are loved. This is perfect for bedtime reading, tummy time and cuddle times.
This is the cutest book ever. I loved reading it and was just smiling the whole time. It will be a joy to read to my little niece. Also, it's so diverse. I loved the pictures and the way it flows will make it such an enjoyable read for any person to read to their kids. I dare you to read this and not hug your little kiddies afterwards. What a joy to read.
This was a sweet book that would be perfect to read with a toddler or preschooler. I loved the diversity in this book and also the combination of both baby animals and people. The illustrations are engaging and beautifully done and very inviting for a younger audience. The words are simple and effective and share about the love and bond between parents and their babies, whether they are humans or animals. Thank you to NetGalley and Owlkids Books for a copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
I can't wait to recommend this title to young families at my library and to purchase it for friends with new babies. The art of the baby shapes paired with sweet poems make this a fun and enjoyable book for a family to share.
A sweet picture book for babies compares babies to animal babies as they play, their diapers changed, play, snuggle, crawl, and get a bath. Moms and dads, and babies are all depicted in beautiful paper collage. I found myself wanting to look at how each piece of paper was layered to create the images. This will be a great little board book. A great way to introduce animals in a friendly way.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced reading copy.
Lyrical text, simple and gorgeous illustrations, actions that go along with the text perfectly. This book is perfect for babies through toddlers. Parents of infants can use the rhyming text while they go out and about with their child at the pool, on a walk or daily routines. For toddlers, this is a great way to connect text to the outer world but acting out the different animals.
Diverse babies are drawn making this a universally loved book for all kids.
This is a delightful picture book for parents to read to their young children that conveys the love they have for them. Children of all nationalities are included, so most families will be able to identify with at least one family. I read this to my 2 year old and 5 year old grandchildren and they both enjoyed it. They talked about when they were that small. They also have a baby brother so could identify with what is happening with him as well. Each two page spread has both animals and humans as a comparison. Normal, everyday events are shown such as a young child making a mess while eating on one page and a chipmunk on the other. The text says:
Baby, you’re just like a chipmunk,
When it’s time for lunch.
Filling chubby chipmunk cheeks,
Messy as you munch.
Overall a cute and delightful book that toddlers and preschoolers will enjoy. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book upon request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.
Rhyming similes, cut- paper collage art, and a parade of the cutest diverse babies ever.... makes this book delightful. "Love You Head to Toe" will warm hearts as young readers engage in this adorable book that compares newborn babes with similar actions and antics of baby animals.
The illustrations are masterpieces. Created from cut-paper they are bright, expressive and playful. They equate the sweet infants to a starfish, a kitten, a duckling, a penguin, a cheeky monkey, a sleepy hippo, a little otter baby and my most favourite - a hedgehog baby, just to name a few.
"You're my little hedgehog baby,
When I wipe your bum,
Curled up in a hedgehog ball,
Until the cleanup's done."
The story moves along powered by actions verbs and documents a day in the life of a baby from morning until bedtime. Love for precious babies ooze from parents to their sweet bundles of joy letting them know that they are a treasure and a gift to be cherished always. The book would be perfect to share at bedtime wrapped in a cuddle and a lovely gift to give to new parents when their new baby arrives to grace their family and home. Highly recommended.
I'm always on the lookout for great Baby Storytime books and this one is definitely going on my list. It has wonderfully diverse illustrations so every baby gets to see someone who looks like them. The animals and action words on each spread make for fantastic interactive opportunities that will keep babies interested and encourage them to play along as they are read too. Grownups will enjoy the text as well and the sweet sentiments it invites them to share with their little ones.
Ahhhh. This simple rhyming book matches animal actions to baby actions, like how turtles crawl through the sand, or kittens bat at butterflies. The story is adorable, rhymes have a nice cadence, and the paper illustrations are inclusive of various races. Very well done book for babies and toddlers.
Love You Head To Toe is an adorable book about babies and comparing things they do to animals. Everything rhymes and the illustrations are made of paper piecing which you know I am alll about. Some of the animals featured are sea stars, turtles, kangaroos, hedgehogs. Each animal is illustrated as well as an illustration of an ADORABLE baby in a similar pose to the animals. A ton of work must have gone into these illustrations alone!
I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review. This book will be published March 15 from Owlkids Books.
I have to admit, I’m a sucker for illustrations of babies, and the babies in this book (human and animal) are precious. I also love the paper cutout illustrations. They’re simple, but that’s good because this book is aimed towards babies and toddlers. The author does a great job of including babies of different ages and races, with Mom and Dad, so I hope it’s relatable for many if not most families. This one makes a great storytime read because it mentions a lot of different movements. The comparisons of babies to different animals, complete with illustrations, also make it a great concept book for the little ones. It’s short and simple, great for short attention spans, and super sweet. I loved it.
This book is an incredibly cute one to read to your baby or toddler, and would be a great baby shower gift. It features beautiful cut paper/collage illustrations as well as diverse families, and compares the ways that babies behave during their daily activities to various baby animals (monkey, turtle, and penguin to name a few).
Adorable book for toddlers and babies! Cute pictures, nice book to read before bed or nap time, I like that it's simple enough where they can "read" along too.
Vibrant, appealing, and storytime-worthy are just a few of the things I can say about this picture book. It’s potential for lapsit, family read-alouds, and before bed reading is evident in its rhyming fun. The inclusion of diversity in the babies is a big plus, as is the collage patterns used. The clever way the animal and baby images are linked (by small details)!will make this a favorite for.babies and their caregivers.
On each page of this book, human babies are compared with animal babies in their activities throughout the day. Baby wakes up like a sea star in the sun. They play like a kitten batting at a butterfly. Baby toddles like a bear cub. They bundle up like a penguin. They eat like a chipmunk, filling their cheeks with food. The book contains many similes and metaphors and even the smallest child will enjoy looking at the animals and the ways that they are just the same.
The text is simple and straight-forward, showing the direct comparisons between baby and animal in a charming way. Activities like crawling, diaper changes, hopping, and toddling make this book accessible to all children. The illustrations show a diverse group of babies, ranging in age from around six months to one year. Done in collage, they are simple enough for little ones and delightful as well.
A winning book for infants and toddlers. Here’s hoping it comes out as a board book soon. Appropriate for ages 1-3.
