This is the first book I've read by Sue Moorcroft and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The book combines planning a choir trip to Switzerland, family secrets, relationship issues, being a carer, having a difficult pregnancy, dealing with staff issues, Christmas, romance, trials of internet dating and copious amounts of snow into an enjoyable festive story.
I have to admit that Doggo the Dalmation was my favourite character, amongst a group of well thought out characters.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon books for an uncorrected proof copy in return for an honest review.
I always enjoy Sue Moorcroft’s books and this one is no exception. She has a talent for writing stories which really draw you in and make you care about the characters. This story is a return to Middledip and features many familiar characters but a lot of the story is also set in Switzerland which adds a touch of extra sparkle to this Christmas story. This book is highly recommended.
Another great book Sue Moorecroft I loved everything about it the plot the characters and the setting of the story sounded fabulous!
The perfect Christmassy story!
A cosy Christmas romance that isn't …
Lily Cortez and her sister haven't had the most conventional of childhoods having two mums, nut she is shocked to discover that her father wasn't an anonymous donor or even a one-night stand as she had always believed but a man that her biological mother had an affair with. Trying to connect with her siblings she moves to Middledip where her half-brother Harrison Tubb (Tubb the pub) owns the village pub. Working part-time at the pub while starting her own fledgling career designing exhibition stands she enjoys village life and getting to know her brother, even if she hasn't plucked up the courage to let Tubb know their connection.
When Tubb has a heart attack he hires a temporary landlord, Isaac to run the pub while he recuperates with his brother Garrison in Switzerland, coincidentally Garrison works for a Swiss company which sells British foodstuffs and his company has invited Lily to design an exhibition stand for their products at some Christmas Fairs in Switzerland, Lily has managed to persuade them that having the local village signing group singing Christmas songs will add an authentic British air to the stand and is busy making travel plans for the group to drive to Switzerland.
This has got everything you would expect from a Sue Moorcroft Christmas novel: carols, turkey, snowballs, romance, dogs, a village pub, tinsel and a bit of angst to leaven the sweetness. I thoroughly enjoyed the Middletones trip to Switzerland, the drama of village life and the burgeoning romance between Isaac and Lily.
Recommended for fans of charming Christmas novels set in small English villages, road trips and Dalmatian dogs.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
I loved the cover of this book and couldn't wait to start reading. I wasn't disappointed, as it had a strong plot with likeable characters. The description of Switzerland with its snow and Christmas markets made me feel I was there watching the snowball fights and seeing the Christmas traditions. Lily's story of her unusual childhood and her search for family members ran alongside her 'friendship' with Isaac, who had been brought in to manage the village pub. If you love Christmas books then this is a must read.
Always really enjoyable reading a new Sue Moorcroft novel and this one was possibly my favourite. I loved the setting, the characters and the storyline. It all moulded together really well and was enjoyable to read how everything was turning out with the main characters. It was so Christmassy and festive and perfect for the festive season.
After Lily discovers her father was a married man her mother had an affair with, she sets out to find her family. The search leads her to Switzerland at Christmas time where she encounters a magical landscape complete with Christmas markets, stollen and freshly fallen snow
Although very unseasonal I couldn’t wait to read sue moorcroft latest book! I love a xmassy read and this didn’t disappoint in any way! The descriptions of a wintery Switzerland, the food, Xmas songs/carols and Xmas markets instantly transport you to a white chilly winter wonderland! Throw in the tangled romance between Isaac and lily, various family dynamics and a friendly village community and you have a perfect wintery festive read to get you in the mood for Xmas!
Thank you net galley for this early read x
When the weather outside is frightful....
you can do no better than curling up with a fabulous festive Sue Moorcroft book, and Let It Snow is just that.
And The Fire is so delightful...
... so is everything about this book, from the picturesque setting, to the family dynamics, the friendships, the potential romance, the snow, and just the way it all made me feel, utterly delightful.
And Since We've No Place To Go....
... not true at all for Lily and the rest of the Middletones, where we get to see their entire trip to Switzerland which was my favourite part of the book. I loved everything about Switzerland. the Christmas markets, the singing that the Middletones did, the cuckoo clocks, all the snow, and getting to know a couple of very key people out there.
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
.. what an apt title for a book that certainly does feature a large amount of snow. Doggo who had to be one of my favourite characters, loved chasing around in the snow, and I enjoyed the teenagers who couldn't resist taking part in snow ball fights. Not to mention that Let It Snow was one of the more popular tunes of the group, and thus I had it running in my head a lot!
Man it doesn't show signs of stoppin'
... the pace doesn't let up in this book, there are so many different storylines in play, romantic tensions, and there is the non stop will Lily or won't Lily reveal her true identity to her half brothers.
And I brought me some corn for poppin
... plenty of delicious food mentions, between the pub that Lily and Isaac are working in to the delights in Switzerland.
The lights are turned way down low
... Well there were some darker times as you get to grips with just why Lily is in Middledip to start with, and what her decision is doing to her family. And Isaac certainly has a tough time of it when his ex, Hayley becomes rather prominent, but not in the way you may be thinking.
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
.. As I have been trying to say, I loved every single moment of this book, it is Sue Moorcroft at her best, its warm and cosy, the whole of the Switzerland section was fabulous, and its always great to be back in Middledip. This easily stands alone with plenty of brand new characters to get to know, and I loved all the various threads of story involved.
Really what I should just be saying is
Buy it now... buy it now... read it now!!
Thank you to Avon on Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
It may be September but it's never too early for a Sue Moorcroft Christmas novel. To add the topping to the cake, we're welcomed back to the village of Middledip, Sue's wonderful setting for quite a few of her stories. Because of this, we get a smattering of the inhabitants we've grown to love and this gives the novel an atmosphere of a family christmas.
Say hi to Lilly Cortez and Isaac O'Brien, out main protagonists, along with Doggo of course, a very friendly Dalmatian. Fans of Sue will be familiar too with Tubb the Pub who has a central role in the main story. It's very nice, this reviewer believes, that this much loved character has more than a peripheral part in this story. In fact, this novel is chock full of wonderful, rounded, well-written characters, including Carola who's a particular favourite of mine from Middledip.
Switzerland bounds to life off the pages to such a degree that you feel like you're walking in the snow-clad towns, villages and fields of this Alpine country. It certainly made me wish that I could go for a visit. Here, you have a roadtrip combined with a love story that will have you silently screaming for a happy ending!
I'm not going to tell you anything about the story, that's not my style. Suffice to say, Sue Moorcroft has done it again. I'd love to tell you about one of the side stories, but I don't want to give out any spoilers as it has a massive effect upon the main story. It's beautifully written and touches the heart. You'll know exactly what I'm talking about it when you read it.
So, pull up the comfy chair, put on the hot chocolate and lock that door for your first Christmas treat of the year!
Let It Snow by Sue Moorcroft is a fabulous heartwarming festive treat. It features great characters, the trials and tribulations of love and plenty of snow along with a giant Dalmatian!
It’s beautifully written and will fray you in with each turn of the page.
Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books and the author for the chance to review.
What a fabulous book. Lovely story, lovely characters. I want to visit Switzerland now it sounds amazing. Sue Moorcroft always gives us fabulous characters. Was great to be back in Middledip again, love the Three Fishes Pub. Can't wait for Sues next book.
This is the first book I’ve read by Sue Moorcroft. Despite not being Christmas yet, I absolutely love a Christmas book.
I was not disappointed by this book, the cover is cute. I really enjoyed Sue’s writing style. I couldn’t put this book down, I was desperate to know what was going to happen next.
🌟🌟🌟🌟
A lovely story. It pulled me in and I almost felt I was living the highs and lows with the characters. Lots of family and friendship and lots of love in this book. Another excellent piece of writing by Sue Moorcroft. Well up to her usual standards.
Absolutely fantastic had me gripped!!! Loved it! Can't wait for more from.this author. Storyline was great, characters were easy to.connect with
Thank you for the advanced copy
Let It Snow, Sue Moorcroft
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Genre: General Fiction (adult), Women's Fiction.
Quick usual moan about the genre Women's Fiction – why? Why assume men won't read this? Men write romance, men read romance....
Well, I was late to the Sue Moorcroft appreciation group ;-) but she's the kind of author whose books are worth reading multiple times. They're so packed with mini plots, secondary characters, fascinating dialogue that I know on subsequent readings I'll pick up things I missed this time round.
As usual its not just one plot, one strand of story but lots. I love that in a story, keeps things exciting. Some books are single plot and I find that can mean the story becomes a bit dull, fixated on one event but here we flip between plots, many of which prove ultimately to be connected.
Fabulous charters too, that make the story feel so real. They're the kind of folk you find in any village, with all life's dramas, the everyday issues we all face at times. There's Lily, Zinnia and the two mums, and the issues that's brought for all of them, and then Lily discovering her two half brothers, and what she should do about that. They have no idea about her, the mums and Zinnia are feeling a bit rejected, even though Lily still adores them. I guess that's natural, how most parents would feel when their child wants to search out other family members. Til now they've been a tight knit unit of four, what will happen when Lily finds them.
Of course its not straight forward, Lily finds Harrison Tubb ( known to all as Tubb), he's a well liked genial landlord of a village local, and she gets a job with him, intending to tell him who she is when time is right. Its never that straightforward though, and that simple quest gets more complicated as she falls in love with Isaac, who's minding the pub while Tubb recovers from a heart issue in Switzerland with his brother. By now Lily has been at the pub two years, part time, while building her own business. That brings in an opportunity to work at an event in Switzerland, via Tubb and his brother Garrick, who still don't know who Lily is to them.
Then there's the singing group, who are also on the Swiss trip, singing Christmas songs, the other villagers, Isaac and his ex Hayley, and of course their dog, Doggo. He's a real star of the book, so typically Dalmatian, full of exuberance.
Everything comes to a head just before, and on, the Swiss trip, its multiple dramas pulling Lily from all sides. Perfect read for me, I adore that kind of drama that makes you think, how can they get through this, will they even, or are the odds so stacked against them they won't?
Its a perfect read for me, full of people and issues that feel so real and one in particular is handled very well, an illness that touches many of us. I've read similar plots in other books where it feels like its been brought in to add drama but just isn't handled well, with parts being very unrealistic. Having had an illness similar myself I appreciated that this was written sensitively but realistically.
Stars: Five, a fun read, full of drama and subtle romance

A fantastic cosy book for those chilly winter nights with a blanket and a mug of coco.. Another fantastic book from Sue.
I always enjoy Sue Moorcroft’s books and this one doesn’t disappoint.
Lily was brought up in an “unconventional” household: she has two mums. When she discovers that she wasn’t the result of a one night stand and that she has two brothers, she is determined to get to know them. Lily’s problem is that they know nothing about her. From the village of Middledip to the snow-covered mountains of Switzerland, we follow Lily on her quest to get to know her brothers.
A great book with likeable characters, add in a touch of romance and you have an entertaining and enjoyable Christmas read.
I recieved this book via Netgalley and give it my honest review.
Sue Moorcroft has written an awesome winter warmer! It is full of loveable modern day characters, a love story that has its ups and downs, romance, family secrets and all the drama that comes with it! I really enjoyed this festive heartwarming story. It should be read in front of a log fire wrapped in a blanket with a mug of hot chocolate. A perfect Christmas read with a covering of snow!
Thank you Netgalley!
I love Sue Moorcroft’s novels. Great to be back in Middledip village. A stand alone story, but with references to Sue’s other books for those of us who have read them. The main characters Isaac and Lily have rich backstories giving them plenty of baggage to get in the way of any relationship. A real ‘will they, won’t they’ story. A great read as always with a lovely Christmas background.
Living part of the year in Switzerland I was very much looking forward to reading this book. The characters were likeable, identifiable and true.
I enjoyed the lead up to the Swiss trîp and the descriptions of the wonderful swiss markets we have once the Middletones arrived.
There were several things about the epilogue of the book that disappointed me - though I can’t give away the end. I am aware that other people would prefer the ending this way, just not for me! Having said that it didn’t detract at all from the book and I really enjoyed the holiday read
A great festive read, set partly in the UK and partly in Switzerland. A great range of likeable characters and you really hope that Lily and Isaac can work things out and be together.
Nice easy read for me. Kept me reading so I finished within one day! I do love a feel good read and this one hit the spot
I love sue moorcrofts books as it makes me smile that she sets some of her books in and around where I live. I end up seeing where I live through other people's eyes and realize it's not really that bad.
I loved this book because it wasn't the normal romance and it was just about "normal" families. So glad that there was a non political correct family of one mum and one dad as this world is not like that.
The story is just brilliant and loving.
I'm glad it had a happy ending and everything worked out how it should of done for the main characters.
I don't want to say to much about the story as it will spoil it for others.
But this is one of them books you will want to read again and again
Such a brilliant Christmas story, I absolutely loved the way it moved from England to Switzerland and we could watch the relationship between Lily and Isaac change from boss and employee, to friends and more......
I was intrigued to see when and how Lily was going to tell her long lost half brothers know who she was, and how they would react, especially Tubb, who she worked alongside for so long back at the pub.
Sue Moorcroft always writes such beautifully descriptive books, and this one was no exception, filled with plenty of seasonal excitement, it had made me desperate to go to a Christmas market to enjoy the sights and smells that she described so vividly.
A wonderful book that caught my imagination and filled me with Christmas cheer🎄 ready for the festive season 🥰
I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of this year’s Christmas novel from Sue Moorcroft. They are always full to the brim with Christmas spirit, but at the same time contain a story that will command the attention at any time of the year. In common with many of Sue’s stories, Christmas or not, this book is set in the little Cambridgeshire village of Middledip. I always enjoy meeting up with familiar characters in a book, and there are a fair few villagers that I recognise in this one. The book’s cover, however, definitely does not depict Cambridgeshire; it shows a lovely snowy scene with mountains and chalets that speaks of Switzerland.
The focus in this story is on Lily, who works part-time at The Three Fishes pub in Middledip, and Isaac, relief manager there while owner Tubb recuperates from a heart problem with his family who currently live in Switzerland. Lily comes from what some consider an unconventional family and has recently found out the identity of her father and, what’s more, that she has two step-brothers, one of whom is Tubb. Much against the wishes of her mother and sister, Zinnia, Lily sets out to get to know her brothers. Through her work as a self-employed exhibition designer, Lily has become involved in a trade show in Switzerland and has organised a visit there by a local choir who are to perform a Christmas themed programme. The visit is not without problems and suddenly involves Isaac as well, giving Lily the opportunity to get closer to him and the possibility for romance to blossom.
I really became immersed in this lovely story, full of snowy adventure but with serious issues at its heart. There were several medical problems along the way as well as a scattering of emotional dramas. It was good to be back in Middledip and find out a bit about characters I have got to know from previous books, but the trip to Switzerland was amazing. I really felt as if I was there amidst the snow and all the traditional christmassy celebrations going on; I even found myself joining in with the singing. It is clear that a tremendous amount of research went into the writing of this tale. It would be wrong of me to leave this review without mentioning another very important character - a rather alluring and good-natured Dalmatian called Doggo, who is there on the book’s cover. I definitely fell in love with him; what a marvellous companion. If you’re looking for a book to give you an injection of Christmas spirit and at the same time transport you to a place with its own Christmas celebrations, I can heartily recommend this one.
Thank you netgalley for a chance to read this book.
Good book, makes me want to visit Switzerland.
Connected with characters straight away and had to carry on reading to find out what happened to Lily and Issac’s relationship.
Can’t wait for the next Sue Moorcroft book.
Every December I curl up with Sue Moorcroft's latest visit to the fictional village of Middledip, a timeless place where Christmas brings something magical for one of the villagers. This year, Christmas came early for me - and what a treat it was! Having read the other books set in Middledip, I knew I was in for a treat. This year Lily and some of the other villagers take a trip to Switzerland, string Christmas come early for them to. Lily is conflicted; life has brought her new family and a new role, but she's hiding. Along comes Isaac, who has complications of his own. Can love win over these two? Sue doesn't let her readers down, ever. You are taken on a bit of a rollercoaster ride but the spirit of Christmas is always there in the background, working it's magic.
I am a huge Sue Moorcroft fan and the Middledip books are my favourite (there is even a map of Middledip on her website). So I looked forward to a Chistmassy read.
Sue has come up trumps again!
With well rounded characters and believable story line, the story centres around Lily who comes to Middledip to find her half brother, Tubbs, the landlord of the Three Fishes pub. She works part time in the pub to supplement her new business in events management.
She gets a contract in Switzerland promoting a British food company and arranges for the Middletones singing group to join her promotion during the run up to Christmas.
So we have family problems, Christmas run up in Switzerland, snow. Throw in Isaac, the temporary landlord at the pub and a satisfying story evolves.
Thank you #Netgalley for the ARC for an honest review
With her marriage over, Lily is back in Middledip.
It's such a joy to pick up a Sue Moorcroft book and know that you're in for a treat as a reader. Let It Snow is the latest in a delightful series of books set in Middledip (with a wander off to Switzerland too) that is just perfect for a wintry afternoon, curled up in front of the fire.
Let It Snow has all the elements I've come to expect from this author. There's a smashing storyline, this time with quite a dark aspect to it too, that is very satisfying. The settings are vividly drawn and transport the reader through brilliant use of the senses, so that reading Let It Snow is a surprisingly immersive experience. Music, food, scenery and so on create a landscape that is visual and multi dimensional. I especially enjoyed the aspects of the story set in Switzerland.
I love Sue Moorcroft's skill in featuring many characters without them becoming extraneous or insubstantial. Each person in this story, Lily and Isaac especially, is a rounded and real person which makes Let It Snow feel as if the reader is observing and involved in the action and not just reading about it. With prejudice still so rife in our society, it was wonderful to have a lesbian relationship between Roma and Patsie that felt normal and natural, without being idealised or preachy. Their life is presented with its flaws and insecurities exactly like any heterosexual partnership which I found refreshing and appealing.
I thoroughly enjoyed the blossoming romance - and it's frustrations - between Isaac and Lily. Sue Moorcroft has a deft touch at writing romantic scenes that is so realistic that the reader enjoys every moment. Through their developing relationship Sue Moorcroft provides so much more for a reader to enjoy, to ponder and to reflect upon. Our sense of identity, of loyalty, of independence are all thoroughly explored so that I wasn't always certain quite how the narrative might resolve itself. And whilst Let It Snow is a perfect example of what might be called women's fiction or uplit, it offers much more besides and I enjoyed it all the more because of it's themes of family, work and relationships.
In Let It Snow, Sue Moorcroft has proven once again that she is a force to be reckoned with in writing this kind of fiction. I'm not normally keen on author endorsements for one another, but the quotation on the cover of Let It Snow really does sum up the book. Debbie Johnson is quite right. 'Sue Moorcroft's books really do have it all' and Let It Snow is no exception.
Loved this book. Great characters, easy read, uplifting, funny, romantic and charming. A really nice story that is the perfect escapist read.
Another delightful story from Sue Moorcroft who revisits the town of Middledip. Who can resist one of her stories that centre around this popular town that has elicited such fantastic and interesting characters and of course, ones that fall in love. Sue reminds me of our Australian author Rachael Johns who also creates such unique and likeable characters. Highly recommend, you won’t regret it.
I so enjoyed this book and it's made me very antisocial in my haste to get back to it! The Switzerland sections of the story were amazing and I'll definitely be adding Zurich to my places to go list! As ever the author takes you on a bit of a an emotional rollercoaster so be prepared to be giggling one minute and reaching for the chocolate the next. It all accumulates in to a fabulous story that is well worth setting aside time for as you won't want to put it down.
It is always fun to return to Middledip and catch up with familiar characters while meeting new ones. A large part of the book is set away from the village as Lily and the choir travel to Switzerland but Middledip is always home and their families and various other concerns remain at the forefront of their minds while they are away. I did not enjoy this book quite as much as some of Sue's other recent books and found the large cast of minor characters confusing at times (especially the long list of names when a group entered a room), but the central story of Lily and Isaac's relationship held my interest all the way through. The idea of Lily having two mums is an intriguing one, and I would have liked to see more of people's reactions to that. Overall an easy enjoyable seasonal read
What an amazing book.
The writing style was brilliant and I loved it.
Another amazing book from this author
Sue Moorcroft has done it again! She has created a world that seems to exist in real life. Her characters are so well developed, they became friends and I miss them, now that I am finished reading. The town of Middledip is always nice to return to and meet more of its villagers.
Lily and her sister Zinnia were raised in a non-conventional family by two mums. They have always known that Zinnia’s father was an anonymous donor at a sperm bank. Lily was told that she was the result of a one-night stand. It becomes known that was not the case and Lily then searched for two brothers that she did not know of. Once found, she wrestles with the action of telling them who she is, or keeping it to herself.
There are several other themes running throughout. Lily finds herself working part-time/temporarily for a pub with a temporary boss, Isaac. Both of them are not lifelong members of the community, but they find it their home for the moment. Both are dealing with issues and at a cross road of their lives. They are attracted to each other, but Isaac has a rule to not date co-workers. Will he break that rule?
Isaac proves to be a gem of a man when he steps in to help in situations others would run from. His Dalmatian, Doggo is a spark of love to this story.
I especially loved reading about traveling from Middledip to Switzerland. It is a journey I will never do in my life, but I feel a bit like I did travel there, by reading this wonderful story.
Sue Moorcroft mixes many things in her books, some series situations, some funny scenes and always rounds it all up with caring and love. I enjoyed this story so much and I hope other reader will pick it up.
Thank you to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for allowing me the pleasure of reading Let It Snow! This review is my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.
This is a wonderful book. I’ve avoid Sue Moorcroft books for a little while because I keep seeing them described as “emotional”, and I try to avoid too much emotion in my books. However, this one particularly appealed to me, so I took a chance. I’m so glad I did!
The book is very well written. All the characters are well rounded out, no one seems two dimensional, even the minor characters. I loved every part of the plot, and it seemed much more like real life than a lot of the escapist romance books I read, BUT without being miserable!
I really, really appreciated seeing ME/CFS (which I have) being shown as a real and serious disease. It was written about in a realistic and compassionate way, and some of the impact it has on both the sufferer and those who love them shown. It was honestly so wonderful and refreshing, so thank you to Sue Moorcroft!
I could tell that this book is part of a series set it the same village, but it works very well as a stand alone too. I really enjoyed the central romance, and the way things kept getting in the way was very lifelike.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for some Christmas romance in a village atmosphere. I will be catching up on Sue Moorcroft’s back catalogue and looking out for new books!
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
An absolutely brilliant book. Wonderful descriptions of Switzerland, the snow, the markets, the food and drink, it had me wanting to get on a flight an go myself in that moment. This book is so much more than a cosy Christmas read though. There are several family situations that are dealt with tastefully and sympathetically. The intense connection between Issac and Lily is wonderful to watch unfold. The care given by Issac to his ex girlfriend when she needs it most, is a beautiful touch to the story. An absolute must read.
I loved it. Sue Moorcroft is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. Lily is lovely, as is Isaac. I did get a bit frustrated with them towards the end - a simple conversation would have sorted things out. That said, I realise the situation with Isaac's ex was a difficult one, and one which made me feel a bit uncomfortable at times. I loved Doggo too. Lily's sister was a nightmare, and I didn't like her much even at the end. I loved the choir and details of their trip to Switzerland. I've never been, but Sue's descriptions conjured some wonderful images for me. It's definitely a good read for the festive period. The ending is satisfying. All in all, recommended.
This book is such a cosy and feel good festive read. The storyline alternates between the village of Middledip and also Switzerland, as Lily tries to secretly get to know her half brothers, who are unaware of her existence.
Along the way, her new boss Isaac catches her attention. She also has to decide whether she should keep her family happy by not getting to know her brothers. This book explores where loyalty lies with family members and also friends.
This book was very well written, and had a few surprises and twists that I was not expecting. I really enjoyed reading this book. I had read a previous book by this author, which I enjoyed. I am delighted to find out that she has other books set in Middledip, so I am eagerly looking forward to reading them.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
Another Sue Moorcroft success! If you enjoy snow, Christmas and happy endings then look no further.
Lily Cortez has enjoyed a happy but unusual upbringing with two mums. When she discovers that she has two half-brothers she sets out to find her other family.
With many interesting characters and beautiful scenery, this charming tale of family, friendship and Christmas magic is a great prelude to the winter season.
amazon and goodreads
The villagers of Middledip have a small chorale group, brought to notice through the efforts of a new resident who moved into town to explore a long-buried family secret. Lily and Zinnia Cortez are sisters who had always been different and as close as the could be to their two mums and each other. Until Lily discovers that her mother’s story was more complex than she believed when she found her mother crying over the obituary of her biological father. Aside from being a shock to discover the truth at nearly thirty, Lily’s desire to seek out her family has caused ripples in the family dynamic. Relocating to Middledip, working in the pub owned by one of her half-brothers, and working to start her own business designing exhibition spaces for companies and deciding how (and when) to broach the subject of parentage to her boss.
But, Tubb has heart problems and has gone off to Switzerland with his new girlfriend to rest, relax and wait for her daughter to get through a difficult pregnancy. The upside to all of this is that Lily’s business connections brought the chorale and the town into notice from a Swiss company that sells ‘traditional British products’ – and a large exhibition will bring the Middledip chorale to Switzerland to sing at the event. In Tubb’s place is a temporary licensee, Isaac took the position found for him by his ex after his lounge failed. Still reeling from the failure, and considering his next move, Isaac is instantly attracted to Lily, but continued interference from his own ex leaves him conflicted. These two are adorable together – but both are stuck in their own heads when it comes to ‘the next step’ and whether or not it’s appropriate.
There were several ‘sub-plots’ in this one – all of which fed into one-another and kept the story moving forward. Lily and Zinnia’s altered relationship, their mum’s relationship struggles, Lily’s desire to know her family, her attraction to Isaac, Isaac’s reeling from his ‘failure’ and what he’s going to do next, his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Hayley and her issues, not to mention the trip to Switzerland, a few hiccups along the way and a wonderfully goofy dog who seems to insert himself into situations willy-nilly. Moorcroft leaves readers with a story of escape, second chances, new sights and plenty of heart, and leaves them smiling in the end.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

This is a real curl up under the duvet novel that you will enjoy. It's Christmasy, snowiy, and lots of fun. with ups and downs along the way, even the dog is more human than dog.. It has been very well written and Sue Moorcroft just gets better and better with her novels.. I certainly recommend this book for everyone and I give it 5 stars.
I love Sue Moorcroft novels and this one was no exception.
It's heartwarming, full of likeable and realistic characters and with a lovely setting.
I appreciated the well crafted plot, the character development, the unusual type of family and Doggo.
I look forward to reading another novel by this author.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
The thing I like about Moorcroft, is that she’s not scared to deal with modern-day issues that might alarm some readers. The writing is strong. The story of Lily finding her way around a couple of stranger half- brothers and all set in delightful Switzerland., charming. Excellent characterisations. Delightful locations and a plot you can sink your teeth in! Perfect Christmas read.
Sue Moorcroft has done it again. Every time I open one of her books, it feels like an embrace from an old friend and Let It Snow is no different.
On the surface you could be forgiven that this is quirky festive romance, but look between the covers and you will discover romance, heartbreak and unknown siblings. Proving that no one is perfect but as long as we swallow our fears and at least try, we maybe granted the things we long for, career success, family or love.
Along with some deep topics there is a lightness to this story, from Dalmatian to choir members and teenage crushes, Let it snow is a must read for anyone looking for a winter escape.
An absolutely perfect Christmas read, get read to curl up, hot drink, toasty fire and fall in love with this book and Sue’s writing. The description makes you feel like you are there, the characters are adorable and it’s so funny with just the right amount of drama and tension, perfect read.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
I love this author’s books and I am delighted to be on the second day of the blog tour for her latest release – Let It Snow!
I thought that this book was excellent, the setting was lovely and the author really brought it all to life for me. I really enjoyed getting to know the different characters, they were so well developed and I warmed to them right from the outset too.
It is 5 stars from me for this one, I thoroughly enjoyed it from stunning cover to the fabulous ending!
It is another excellent release by this lovely author and I cannot wait to see what she releases next!! A really fun festive read- very, very highly recommended!!
I’m starting to get in the festive vibe now, well it is the last day of September, and this story is a festive gem. The conflicted romance between two likeable protagonists, Lily and Issac, is at the heart of this story. Rather like a festive ‘pass the parcel’, it has so many layers, with a surprise every time you peel one-off.
There is a family drama, as Lily’s search for the other half of her family, raises hidden secrets in the other half. There tumultuous consequences. for Lily, Zinnia and their mothers. This story is wonderfully contemporary, internet dating and same-sex relationships are interwoven into the complex plot, which adds to the story’s authenticity.
A significant part of the story takes place in Switzerland, where Lily and some of the villagers, take their choir to deliver some quintessentially British Christmas cheer. This is where the title really comes into its own, The ambience, food and scenery are beautifully vivid.
The darker themes explored in this story are a good contrast to the festive frivolity and fun, It reads perfectly as a standalone, even though it features characters from the Middledip series.
The perfect book to get you in the festive mood. With family, friends and sparkling romance wrapped beautifully in a snow-covered world.
I received a copy of this book from Avon Books UK via NetGalley
I adore Christmas-themed novels and love Sue Moorcroft’s books (I’ve read them all!) so I knew this would be a fab read.
We return to the village of Middledip (hooray!) and follow the story of two sisters, Lily and Zinnia, who have two mums. Lily then finds out that her biological father is not the person she’s been led to believe it is, so she travels to Switzerland, determined to find out the truth.
What a brainwave to set a Christmas book mostly in Switzerland; imagining all those snow-covered mountains took my mind to Christmas straight away!
A lovely, heartwarming read to get you in the mood for Christmas!
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for an advance reader copy in return for an honest review.
Thank you for approving me for this title! This is the first holiday novel I read and it was the perfect start to my holiday season. Every year I read holiday books but this story felt more developed and relatable!
I honestly thought I had read books by this author before. But, shamefully despite this author having written lots, this is my first book by her! It sounds and looks like it’s the perfect book for this time of year! Not only is it set at Christmas time, but there is plenty of the white stuff to go around as well! Lily and her sister Zinnia are sisters that have been brought up in a less than conventional family having two mums! When Lily suddenly discovers that she was the result of an affair as opposed to the one night stand that she always believed, she decides to go and seek her father’s side of the family all the way out in Switzerland…
I was drawn to this book initially by the colourful cover – blue skies, white snow-capped mountains – what could look better!! I loved Lily and her sister Zinnia, and was really surprised by their two mums, something which you don’t often see in a book of this type! Obviously, they’ve all had to deal with the issues which comes along with having two mums, but yet they’re still a really close family. I felt for Lily though when she finds out that her father wasn’t who she thought he was, and how this changes her relationship with everyone.
The story was enticing right from the beginning and if the prospect of Switzerland, snow and Christmas festivities wasn’t enough to draw you in then the descriptions of all the amazing food should do it! I could imagine myself at the Christmas markets with all the wonderful sights and smells just by reading parts of this book! Of course, it is a romance and it was great to follow the building relationship between Lily and her love interest, Isaac! The course of true love never runs smoothly, but Isaac is very good looking so perhaps he can be forgiven for any hiccups along the way.
The storyline flowed well and kept me hooked into the story right to the very end! It was a lovely heart-warming read, with plenty of dramas along the way to equal out all the festivities!! And of course, I couldn’t not mention Doggo the Dalmatian who probably isn’t the only character who will steal your heart, but most definitely the only four legged one!! Great story, lovely characters, wonderful location - highly recommended!!
This was the first Christmas book I've read this season and what a wonderful way to start the festive period. It has all the elements you might expect - a winter wonderland in Switzerland, Christmas carols, a Christmas market and a slow-burning romance that will melt the snow by the end. Underlying the festivities though is the serious problem of Lily trying to discover her roots and things not going quite to plan. I enjoyed reading about her non-conventional family ( which actually is becoming more conventional today) and the relationship between her, her mums and her 'sister'. The descriptions of the winter scenery really set the scene for the book and are sure to put you in a Christmassy mood.
This gripped me from the start, the diifferent relationships and situations were all realistic of life as life can sometimes feel like one big mess. I absolutely loved this. The more book I read by sue moorcroft the more I'm becoming a fan!
Family sagas and then second chance love collide in this feel good novel that sorts out a tangled set of relationships.
I liked that the parents were a same sex couple and that not only had they had a very long life together, but that they had weathered some tricky issues with both women wanting babies at the same time, and subsequent, and later, affairs.
The book showed the difficulties that children of same sex couples can have at school, but that they can also grow up to be ‘normal’ and well balanced adults. Demonstrating that the lack of a male figure in their family was no deterrent to a happy childhood and future careers etc.
The novel was well rounded and the style was coherent and well written. The storyline took us to pubs and Switzerland and singing and included a lively dog for those readers who need a family pet to be included. There was enough drama and misunderstandings to allow for the norm of this type of genre with a happy ending
This book surprised me from the off by tackling a situation I have never seen addressed in this type of book before so I knew I was in for something a bit different from this novel from the beginning. We are thrown straight in to the extraordinary life of Lily and her start riding the wave of her unusual circumstances along with her.
Once I got past the dramatic prologue and in to the story proper, I was enchanted by the setting of Middledip and the community that centres around The Three Fishes pub. Sue has created a cast of characters that are immediately warm and enchanting people to spend time with, and it was a joy to spend time here, learning about their lives. By this point I was in love with Lily and desperately wanted things to work out for her, and was delighted when the delicious Isaac came into her orbit, but of course the path of true love never runs smooth…
The inclusion of the snowy trip to Switzerland, with carol singing and Christmas markets, gives this book the perfect Christmas flavour and made me want to jump on the first plane to Zurich in a set of sexy thermals. My favourite romance books always include a wishlist travel experience and this book did not disappoint in this respect. I defy any reader not to be yearning after Swiss chocolate and cuckoo clocks by the end of the novel.
Aside from the Christmassy flavour and the lure of armchair travel, the heart of this book is the story of love and family. The family you are born into, the family you create and the family you find in the hearts and company of the people you choose to have around you. The story is warm and enchanting, addressing some difficult and unusual topics in an approachable and sensitive way, and giving the reader that warm, fuzzy, contented feeling we have come to expect from a Sue Moorcroft novel.
The perfect book to curl up with on a cold, autumn evening and escape into for a few hours. Fans of the author and the genre will not be disappointed.
My Review
I've taken quite a shine to this authors books after reading her previous one "A Summer To Remember" recently.
It was a little strange reading a christmas book while on holidays in the sun but I couldn't have enjoyed it more.
A lovely light, entertaining read with a little romance along the way for good measure.
We meet Lily Cortez who has grown up in a somewhat unconventional family life with her sister and two mums.
Always thinking that she was the product of a one night stand, Lily is astonished when her mum tells her about an affair she had with Lily's dad.
When a longing to know more about her dad's family takes her to a small pub where she finds herself settling into village life amongst the locals, Lily finds she needs to keep her secret for a little longer.
But the lovely Isaac is on hand to win her over with a little help from his beautiful Dalmatian Doggo.....
So with the choir group "The Middletones" heading off on their Christmas trip to Switzerland, the will they, won't they romance between Lily and Isaac and the knowledge that it could all come crashing down for Lily, this one makes for a fabulous read.
You will love it...💕
Thank you kindly to author Sue Moorcroft and her publishers Avon Books for my copy of this book. Much appreciated.
The Blurb :
Family means everything to Lily and Zinnia Cortez and, growing up in their non-conventional family unit, they and their two mums couldn’t have been closer.
So it’s a bolt out of the blue when Lily finds her father wasn’t the anonymous one-night stand she’s always believed. She is in fact the result of her mum's reckless affair with a married man.
Confused, but determined to discover her true roots, Lily sets out to find the family she’s never known – an adventure that takes her from the frosted, thatched cottages of Middledip to the snow-capped mountains of Switzerland, via a Christmas market or two along the way…
My Thoughts :
Here we meet sisters, Lily and Zinnia, raised by two mums Roma and Patsie. When Lily learns her dad wasnt who she thought he was and is infact a married man her mum had an affair with, wanting to find out more about her family she heads to Middledip and lays the foundation to get to know her family.
What follows is an adventurous trip to Switzerland, but does the trip go as planned?!.
I loved Lily, she is such a warm and caring character and I found myself routing for her throughout the story and wanting everything to be alright for her. We also see a little romance, some laughter and some tears.
I am always pleased to hear when Sue Moorcroft has a new book out and Let it Snow is a clear winner with beautiful, vivid descriptions of Switzerland this book with have you wishing you could jump on the next plane out.
💕 Thanks to Netgalley UK, and Avon Books for the copy in return for an honest review.
Lily discovers a family secret that rocks her world. Add to the mix a non-conventional family, a flirtation with a handsome barman and a snow capped Switzerland then you have the makings of a wonderful Christmas adventure.
Thoroughly enjoyable and engaging, the story builds as Lily's adventure takes her off on her travels. This book will add a Christmas sparkle to the festive season and brighten the cold wintery nights. Curl up and enjoy!
.
Award winning author Sue Moorcroft writes fabulous romance novels. Often, her characters live unconventional lives, which makes her novels stand out in a positive and truthful way.
With her signature style, Sue Moorcroft has created a wonderful world of Christmas markets, new friendships, and possible romance, all topped off with loveable characters that will feel like best friends by the end.
Lily and Zinnia have always known that their parentage wasn't traditional but when Lily discovers the truth about her father and soon realises that she may have more family out there in this world, it changes her mindset and she is determined to uncover the truth. From the gorgeous, community-centred Middledip to the wild beauty of Switzerland, can Lily find what she is looking for? And is love a possibility with someone close to home?
LET IT SNOW by Sue Moorcroft blew me away with its stunning descriptions and I felt the scenes come alive around me as I read which is no easy feat for a writer. The characters are fresh and engaging and there is never a dull moment in this story as I was swept along with Lily as she discovered more about herself as well as her family. There is magic, love, high emotions, and everything you could possibly wish for in LET IT SNOW and I had to fight the urge to climb up into the attic and take down the Christmas tree as this story really got me into the perfect festive mood.
LET IT SNOW by Sue Moorcroft is excellent in every way and as always I will be on tenterhooks waiting for the next novel from one of my favourite authors.
Thanks to NetGalley and to Avon Books UK for an advance copy of Let it Snow by Sue Moorcroft.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I love Christmas anyway, and this book had snow too. Lots of snow. And a spotty dog.
Lily wants to meet her brothers. Her sister is against the idea and her parents aren't completely on board. But that doesn't stop Lily moving to the village where at least one of her brothers lives and works, and it doesn't stop her travelling to Switzerland either to meet the other one.
The story is very well-written with some great characters. I did think the mad dash at Christmas was a bit unlikely, especially as this meant dropping everything, including breaking a promise to Isaac. And there was quite the info-dump from Hayley's mouth after she received her prognosis.
But generally, it's a nice festive story with some good characters, and it certainly put me even more in the mood for Christmas this year a few months too early.
Lily grew up with her sister Zinnia and their two mums, always believing that her father was a one night stand her mum barely remembered. She is therefore shocked one day when her mum blurts out the truth, she had an affair with a married man and tells Lily his name. Lily then discovers she has two older half brothers and decides she wants to get to know them.
Lily gets herself a job in a pub owned by one of the brothers, Harrison Tubb but after two years working there she still hasn’t plucked up the courage to tell him who she is. When a health scare means Tubb goes to Switzerland to recuperate with his partner Janice he brings in Isaac as temporary manager.
Lily and Isaac find themselves drawn together but both have their own reasons for holding back. A trip with the MIddletones singing group sees their remaining barriers come down but just when they think they could have found some happiness fate intervenes and tears them apart again.
Lily and Isaac have to decide if they can make a relationship work and Lily needs to find the courage to tell her brothers who she really is.
A perfect story for any time of year but the snowy setting and carols sung by the Middletones make it
especially perfect for Christmas.
Sue Moorcroft writes great characters and describes the scenery of Switzerland so clearly I felt I could see it and wanted to be there!
Doggo was a special highlight for me, I could imagine him rolling around in the snow and it made me laugh.
A fun, heartwarming holiday read. Loved it! If you're a fan of Hallmark's Christmas movies, this one is for you!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
Relatable characters, wonderful story and excellent writing make this book a must read for the festive period. I love Sue Moorcroft, she has a great way of writing realistic characters and absorbing you in a story.
: this is the second book of Sues that I have picked up, and just like the first time I thoroughly enjoyed it, i now plan to make my way through her back catalogue as and when I can, she had become a new favourite author.
This story follows Lily, who had just recently found out that she is the result of an affair her mum had with the intention of getting pregnant. - Lily comes from a 2 mum family and until that moment believed she was the result of a sperm donor just like her sister. After discovering the news by catching her mum reading the obituary of her father she also learns that she has 2 brothers and seeks out to find them.
Her search leads her to Middledip and working in a pub owned by her older brother, she soon settles into life there, finds friends an apartment to live in and really integrates herself into the community by becoming part of the local singing group, all the while keeping her secret from everyone around her.
Isaac comes into the story as a relief manager for Lily's brother Tubb whilst he recovers from some health issues, he throws himself into his new role and there seems to be near instant chemistry between him and Lily.
I won't give too much away, but certain things happen which lead to Isaac having to drive the local singing group to Switzerland because Lily is no longer able to and that's where the love story really begins, but will it be as straight forward as you hope?
There are some rough topics broached in this book and all are done very sensitively whilst also being informative at the same time.
I cannot recommenced this book enough to fans of contemporary stories with a Christmas twist.
Best-selling author Sue Moorcroft is back with Let It Snow, a wonderfully addictive new novel that will keep readers hooked from beginning to end. Funny, dramatic and emotional, Let It Snow is a fantastic festive read that should be on everyone’s wish list this Christmas.
Family has always been at the centre of Lily and Zinnia Cortez’s life. Growing up in an unconventional family unit with two mums and no dad has meant that the girls had experienced their fair share of prejudice and anguish while growing up which has only served to strengthen the bonds between Lily, Zinnia and their parents. Lily has always believed that their mums had always been honest with them, however, the foundations of her world and her entire existence are shaken to their very core when a shocking family secret is revealed: Lily’s father was not a random stranger as she had always been led to believe, but a married man her biological mother had an affair with over the course of many months! Lily is shocked and flabbergasted and cannot help but feel betrayed that her mother has kept such a huge secret from her. Her father has recently passed and Lily has been denied access to him all her life. Although she is well aware that she can never have a relationship with him, Lily is determined to find out more about her father and his family, so she packs her bags and heads over to Middledip and manages to get a job working behind the bar of the family pub. But there is a catch: her family and new friends do not have a clue about Lily’s true identity!
When Lily had decided to get to know the other side of her family, she never quite imagined that she would build a new life for herself in Middledip. Not only has Lily got herself a job, but she has made friends and feels like a valued member of the community the more time she spends in the new place she now calls home.
However, the burden of Lily’s secret weighs heavily upon her shoulders. She knows that she cannot continue to lie to the people she has grown close to and that she must confess who she really is soon. But knowing the devastating repercussions of her shocking and scandalous secret, is Lily prepared to tell everybody who she really is?
When an unexpected twist of fate takes her all the way to the breath-taking Swiss mountains, will Lily muster up the courage to not just let down her guard and reveal the truth about her identity, but also find the strength and courage to take a chance on love and start living? Or will she continue to be held back by her own fears and insecurities?
Sue Moorcroft has written another engaging and enjoyable read that tugs at the heartstrings, touches the soul and warms the spirit. Uplifting, feel-good and brilliantly written, Let It Snow is a tale about family ties, old secrets, new beginnings and healing from the past that I struggled to put down.
Full of characters you simply cannot help but warm to and care about, nail-biting family drama, searing emotional intensity and poignant romance, Let It Snow is another winner from the immensely talented pen of best-selling author Sue Moorcroft.
This is a shamelessly romantic book where you just know no matter what 'problem' stops the couple from being together, love will find a way and there will be a happy ending. Perfect reading material for perking up your mood, and the Christmas theme with a trip to very snowy Switzerland makes this an ideal seasonal read.
The characters are charming and I fell in love with the village of Middledip, the Middletone choir, and Isaac and Lily. Read all about the antics going on at the village pub, what it is like to have two mums and why Lily is so determined to meet her two half brothers. An adorable Dalmation 'Doggo' features a lot in this easy pleasant read, which basically aims to cast the magic spell of seasonal cheer and happy ever afters over every reader to turn the pages.
This is my first Christmas novel of 2019 and Let It Snow gave me a warm, cosy feeling that left me almost ready for the winter ahead.
The story is set in two locations, the small village of Middledip in England with its close knit community and a beautiful picturesque snowy place in Switzerland. Both are perfect settings for this festive story. The characters are well described, even the adorable Dalmatian, Doggo. It is not just a love story as I discovered with plenty of obstacles in the plot. The Author Sue Moorcroft , sensitively includes one of the characters struggle as they experience the aftermath of breast cancer.
My thanks to Net Galley for the ARC digital copy of Let It Snow, this is my own opinion of this delightful festive fun read.
A wonderful cosy book to curl up on the sofa in front of the fire on a cold winter’s night.
This book had a bit of everything. Love, friendship, family all set around the Christmas holiday.
The characters’ little haunt over to Switzerland and the author’s descriptions of the place and Christmas markets gave me a real visual of what it would be like and made me want to visit.
A great story. Loved it.
A heartwarming Christmas story. Loved the village it was set in and instantly warmed to the characters right at the start. The description of both the village and their travels was excellent, and I particularly loved crazy dalmatian Doggo. A mix of tears and laughter along the way, a great book to get you in the Christmas Spirit.
Such a cute story! It did seem quite long, but kept me wondering how it would all play out. The details of travels were so in depth and I could picture it all in my mind!
So why is it that I love Sue Moorcroft’s books so much? First of all, there’s the world she creates – and this story begins in Middledip, drawing in the many readers who’ve read her earlier books (but never excluding those who haven’t yet had the pleasure of visiting), introducing a few characters regular readers will recognise, revisiting some familiar locations. This time much of the early action is focused on the pub, The Three Fishes, where Isaac is the relief manager while Tubb is away in Switzerland, and Lily (for reasons that soon become clear) works both behind the bar and in the restaurant.
And that pub setting brings in something else about her writing that I always enjoy, her meticulous research and the way she uses it to bring a setting to life – from the preparations for Christmas and interactions with the customers to the realities of a publican’s life, both at the Three Fishes and the failed glitzy bar that Isaac used to run.
The reasons why Lily is in Middledip provide an original and very different background storyline – her unconventional parents (two mothers – and the whole idea so well handled), her need to find the rest of her family, her close relationship with “sister” Zinnia rarely without its fireworks or larger explosions. Sue Moorcroft’s books always have an edge of something a little darker, an unexpected complication (or several) – but always perfectly judged, the story-telling never losing its lightness, always focused on the convincing developing romance at the story’s heart, never without a splash of humour. There’s always a happy ending, once the many obstacles that arise have been overcome – but I really enjoy that extra touch of depth and complexity, always realistically handled.
Her characters are always excellent – in this book, both Lily and Isaac won my heart (and that happy ending was a long time coming, and often in considerable doubt). But I very much liked the supporting cast too – Isaac’s family as well as Lily’s (his mother particularly well drawn), the threat from his former girlfriend (and the unexpected way in which it was developed), every single member of the singing group individually drawn with their own dramas and concerns. And then there’s the wonderful Doggo, Isaac’s dalmatian – should you ever doubt that a dog can be a fully rounded character, he’s the proof you’ve been looking for, and an absolute joy with his every intervention.
But if it’s Christmas you’re looking for… well, once the action moves to Switzerland, you couldn’t really ask for more. Again, the author’s research comes strongly to the fore – coming after a road trip through which you live every moment, the descriptions are just stunning. The scenery, the markets, the food, the music, the cuckoo clocks, and all that snow – I’ve never been, but she certainly involves all the senses as she brings the setting so vividly and perfectly to life.
There’s the world of work too, wholly successfully woven in – the convention, the stand for the promotion of British food that Lily helped to design, the question marks about the future direction of her life. And Switzerland really is the perfect backdrop against which to develop her relationship with Isaac, and to work through some of those complex family issues, with a perfect balance of joy and heartbreak.
This book was excellent – more than enough Christmas content for the most ardent fan of the festive season, a wholly satisfying romance, but also an excellent and well-developed story, superbly told in Sue Moorcroft’s unique style. Highly recommended by me… I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Lily has grown up in a somewhat unconventional family, with her sister and two Mums. They are all very different, but Lily feels as though she doesn’t belong, especially after hearing the news that her Mum had an affair which resulted in her pregnancy with Lily.
Since learning the news a few years ago, Lily has hunted down her half brothers and, unbeknown to them, is working for one of them in a small village pub. When the opportunity arises to meet her other half brother in Switzerland Lily jumps at the chance. She and her fellow choir members plan a trip to Switzerland to perform, unfortunately her plans don’t exactly work out.
Will Lily finally feel like she is wanted? And will Love blossom in the snow capped mountains?
This is the first book I have read by Sue Moorcroft, but certainly won’t be the last.
What a magical read! You are taken on a beautiful festive journey all the way to snowy Switzerland from the village of Middledip. There is a mystery to uncover as Lily tries to unravel some family secrets and plenty of romance bubbling under the surface. I loved the descriptions of the seasonal traditions, seeing it through Lily’s eyes. However, there is more to this read than a fluffy romance. There are some surprising and dark themes, with contemporary relevance.
Thanks to the author for a copy of the book.
Although this has a Christmas theme, it's good reading any time of year, As always, Moorcroft writes good characters, fun dialogue, and good atmospherics, Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A happy read!
Recipe for a perfect Christmas read (also known as my review!)
Take one familiar and well loved village (Middledip)
Add a cosy village pub (The Three Fishes)
Ensure that your heroine (Lily) is down to earth, likeable but not without some pretty big secrets
Pre-heat the boss (That'll be Isaac!)
Dollop in a lovable Dalmatian called Doggo
Add a generous helping of romance
Whisk in some simmering attraction
Stir in some difficult family situations
Carefully blend through some serious issues
Throw in a trip to Switzerland
Coat the mountains with a generous dusting of snow
Sprinkle in some Swiss chalets and twinkling fairy lights
Combine with Christmas markets and delicious sounding food and drink
Add a little Christmas adventure
Mix in more than a hint of spice
Blend together carefully
Don't forget to sing a few Christmas carols and songs as you wait for the mix to mature
Best enjoyed before the end of December
Verdict? Another fabulous book from Sue Moorcroft. A delicious treat of a book to be savoured this festive season.
