Vampires in America Series, Book 13

Scotland—sweeping forests, tumbling waterfalls. . .and towering highlands where vampire warriors have ruled for centuries.

Lethal and charismatic, vampire Lachlan McRae woke on his first night to death and devastation—his clan slaughtered, his fortress destroyed. One hundred and fifty years later, driven to avenge the murder of everyone he loved, he’s ready to hunt down and kill the one vampire who was behind it all—Erskine Ross, the Vampire Lord of Scotland.

Beautiful, smart, and cool under pressure, Julia Harper is determined to prove she’s more than a child of wealth and privilege. When a lifelong friend is murdered by vampires, she steps out of her role as an analyst for the CIA, and sets out to take down one of the most powerful men in Scotland—the deadly Erskine Ross.

Recruited by a friend to arrange contact between Lachlan and her best friend Cyn’s mate, the powerful Vampire Lord Raphael, Julia soon discovers that she and Lachlan want the same thing . . . Erskine’s death. But when Erskine sets out to kill Julia instead, she and Lachlan find themselves fighting for her life, and for a love that neither one of them can trust.

Lachlan MacRae of Scotland wakes on his first day as a vampire with his clan being slaughtered by Erskine Ross. The killing precipitates his quest to become the vampire lord of all of Scotland. Nearly 200 years later, Lachlan has finally enough power to take down Ross and claim the title. Julia needs to avenge her friends death, and Lachlan agrees to help Julia get her revenge. Their attraction is mutual. This is a great series, with sizzling romance and lots of action.I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from Netgalley.

Our Lords are back and I must admit I rather enjoyed Lachlan and Julia. I think a main reason I did was because Julia reminded me of Cyn in lots of ways, she was strong and her and Lachlan worked well together. We of course get a few glimpses of Raphael and Cyn, but the majority of this story revolves around Julia’s quest for revenge and Lachlan’s for Scotland. This has what we’ve come to expect from this author violence, likeable characters, steamy on top of steamy scenes. I truly enjoy this authors world she’s created and I can’t wait to see which country is next to be under new leadership...my money is on England.

I ask that we all just take a moment to appreciate that cover because all too often the artwork and the character portrayed seldom matches. Here with the next book featuring how the Vampire world within Europe is changing the author introduces Lachlan and that Scot is everything readers have come to expect. Yes he’s all brawn, brains and heart and it all combines to make him a formidable enemy. Having been biding his time and consolidating his Clan he’s now ready to go into battle and it’s one he intends to win . He just needs to confirm that the most powerful Vampire in the world doesn’t already have his sights on Scotland and that’s why he finds himself with a very human ally .
Julia was devastated when her friend was murdered and she’s in England determined to take out the Vampire who she believes is responsible. She doesn’t really understand the secretive world of Vampires but it’s soon very apparent that her goals and those of Lachlan definitely coincide. He’s big, he’s bold and clearly confident but that little thing called chemistry isn’t that easy for Julia to ignore. Thrown together the couple are seeking more than just revenge they both are hunting for justice. As danger creeps ever closer it’s imperative they trust each other but just who is really calling the shots ?
There’s everything I could want here with two strong, believable characters and a sneaky bad guy who deserves all that’s heading his way. Fans of this series will be overjoyed that Raphael makes an appearance but trust me Lachlan is everything readers want in a hero. I loved that the story is set up with background on Lachlan as it made the overall plot and storyline very cohesive. Julia is exactly the type of heroine I associate with this series as she’s feminine, confident, has smarts and even a practical side. Get the ice on standby when you read this but most of all definitely do read this book !
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Another hit by D.B. Reynolds. The war is coming, alliances are being made, only the strong will survive. Lachlan wants to be the Lord of Scotland. He has waited many years for revenge against Erskine, the present Lord. Lachlan. knows he can be the Lord who can rule fairly. When he meets Julia Harper, a CIA agent, who has her own agenda, sparks fly in more ways than one. Erskine killed her friend, Masoud. but he left files and information for Julia so she could follow the trail. She and Lachlan team up to bring Erskine down for good. There are secrets and and lies that will be discovered which will affect Raphael, the most powerful Vampire Lord in the world. No one wants to be his enemy. Strong hero, feisty heroine, steamy sex. I read it in one sitting, couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the rest of the series. One of my favorite Lords of of the series. 5+ stars. If you love handome, strong vampires and the women who stand beside them, you will love this series. I received this book from Net Galley and Belle Books/ImaJinn for a honest review. I was honored to be able to read this book.

In this latest novel by D.B. Reynolds, she delights her readers with a fast-paced, primal story of merciless clans and the all-consuming need for dominance and revenge. LACHLAN is magnificent; imposing in stature and a mesmerising vision as he wields a strength that is both lethal and captivating in its power, and let’s not forget his heart-stopping Scottish Brogue!

After years of planning his ultimate conquest of the current Scottish Vampire Lord, Lachlan and Julia are thrown together on a mutual quest for justice and revenge. And while each has a different reason for their single-minded goal, there is no denying the depth of attraction and chemistry that develops throughout this engrossing tale bursting with equal amounts of danger, suspense and explosive passion.

LACHALN….. is a well-balance story, with a marvellous plot, insightful world building, and the added bonus of some quality time spent with formidable Raphael....there is no mistaking that Ms Reynolds has returned to her absolute best with this latest instalment. When I finally reached the end I was reluctant to turn the final page; so now I wait for what comes next.

I read only book one in the ViA series - Raphael. Yet I didn't have any problems with this book - understanding and enjoying it. To be honest, I don't remember a lot from Raphael's book, so I read this one as a standalone.
Ms. Reynolds for sure knows how to capture her readers with great characters and chemistry pouring from her both MCs. This is a story of revenge and power fight. Lachlan is a lethal vampire that wants to avenge his clan that was killed by current Scottish vampire lord - Erskine. He wants his position and revenge from the death of his clan.
Julia is an agent, but right now she's on a mission to take down Erskine for killing her close friend. I LOVED her character s she was set on the mission, but yet she had a heart in the end.
This story was full of emotions, has strong characters, lots of secrets, sexy vampires, fight for the title of Lord. I hope her next book will be even better than this one as I have so high hopes for those

Will these two unlikely allies be able to defeat this powerful vampire and what about the love that is blossoming between them When someone or something sts their sights on Julia it will be up to Lachlan to keep her safe Will they defeat Erskine Ross and will Lachlan McRae end up as the new vampire lord of Scotland This is a fast paced book with plenty of twist and turns to keep you engaged till the very last page

Lachlan McRae is driven to avenge the murder of everyone he loved and the time has come to hunt down and kill the vampire responsible. After her friend is murdered, Julia Harper steps out of her role as a CIA analyst and sets out to take down one of the most powerful men in Scotland. Julia and Lachlan want the same thing, the Vampire Lord – Erskine Ross’s death, but Erskine has Julia and Lachlan fighting for her life and for a love that neither one of them can trust.

A powerful and breath taking, exhilarating read that has readers wondering if another evil bad guy will bite the dust. Lachlan and Julia have some serious chemistry going on but the relationship is chock full of trust issues and both of their determined mind sets that they have to take down the vampire lord of Scotland. Both of these characters are strong, very bold characters that readers can really sink their teeth too with lots of emotional turmoil plaguing their relationship and lots of explosive passion that sets readers’ senses aflame.

The fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers glued to the page with lots of heart pounding suspense, adrenaline pumping excitement and thrilling danger with this story being further enhanced by the appearance of Raphael and Cyn during a tense meet and greet. A couple of potent and white-knuckle battles adds further hair raising enjoyment to this already superior read, which ensures that readers will want to read this powerful, exhilarating, and intensely satisfying romance over and over and over!

As I’ve said in the past D.B. Reynolds is truly a master storyteller! Once again she has given us another delicious vampire to fall in love with along with another kickass heroine to admire.

Lachlan McRae is a Scottish Highlander who happens to be a vampire, a vampire who woke from his rebirth in 1846 to find most of his clan slaughtered by a rival clansmen led by Erskine Ross. Unfortunately, as a new vampire he didn’t have to strength to challenge the older rival vampire clan leader, who, present day is now the Vampire Lord of Scotland.

Julia Harper is a CIA analyst who comes from wealth and is a childhood friend of Cyn’s. When another childhood friend of Julia’s is murdered she takes leave from her job to investigate his murder and exact revenge. All-in-all another fantastic addition to this wonderful series. As usual we get a glimpse into the next book and once again I’m very intrigued. I can’t wait for more!!!!

A story with really strong characters who you connect with from the very first page. Lachlan McRae awoke on his first night as a vampire to hear all his clan being killed by Erskine Ross who would become King of Scotland. It would take many years for Lachlan to build up his power to have his revenge on Erskine. Into his story steps Julia who Erskine wants dead at any cost. This is a fast paced gripping story that keeps the excitement going till the last page.
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Holy Hot Scottish Vampires!

I absolutely loved the story! Lachlan and Julia had amazing and explosive chemistry. The storyline was jam-packed with action and Scottish vampires. I enjoyed the political climate as well as the epilogue of subterfuge and intrigue. And did I mention Scottish vampires? The eroticism was off-the-charts explosive! There is so much emotion and so many feels that I didn’t want it to end! I’m excited to find out which Vampire Lord will step into the spotlight next!

Lachlan McRae is following a path of revenge following the brutal loss of those he loved. Julia Harper finds herself in the same vengeful position following the murder of her friend. The two find themselves on a dangerous journey together to take down the Vampire Lord responsible.

A fast paced and suspenseful story full of danger, lust and adventure. A really interesting and original read that will have you on the edge of your seat.

I absolutely adore this series. Perfect blend of steamy steamy and gorey action.

Some forward progression in the overall story arc of new, stronger master vampires taking control. This one focuses on Julia & Lachlan. While they meet in London, Lachlan is determined to get revenge and control of Scotland. Julia is also set on revenge against the current master vamp of Scotland.

There's a few coincidences that seemed forced/unnecessary, but this is still a great story.

Wow!! Just... give me a minute... I'm still pretty blown away. When a new-to-me author taps into everything I could possibly like in a story on the first go, I'm hooked. Lachlan is the 13th book of the Vampires in America series and I've got to go back and read the first twelve!

This Book!
✫ a huge, sexy, confident, powerful vampire (Lachlan) who is bent on revenge against the vampire who wiped out most of his clan
✫ a beautiful, intelligent, determined woman (Julia) who is looking to wreak vengeance against the vampire who took out her best friend
✫ tons of extremely hot tension and intimacy. It took a while to get there, but when it FINALLY happened, it was HAWT many times over
✫ the action scenes were amazeballs
✫ side characters that I'm actually interested in learning more about
✫ an ending that hints at something else to come, but also made me wish for more of an ending for this couple
✫ a story that gave me hope that I'd be seeing these people again
✫ meeting Raphael and Cyn has me eager to read their book

I love how Reynolds wrote about vampires in a way that I've never experienced before. Where some of their features can be found in other literature, so much of what made them wonderful were the unique characteristics she gave them, such as their mystical powers. I'm intrigued by it all! One of the other great things about this book was how it read like a standalone, but I can see how the stories all tie together. So I was able to be introduced to this author's writing, to this vampire world, and to be tempted to read everything else in this series. If you love vampires, action, and love, you'll enjoy this book as much as I did.

Lachlan is the 13th book in the Vampires In America series written by D.B. Reynolds. I only read one other book in this series and that was the first title. This book was enjoyable. However, if I wouldn’t have taken the initiative to read the first title, me as a new reader to this series would have found it overwhelming. So, to that end, this book wasn’t a stand-alone read. If you’re truly interested in reading this book, I advise reading this series in order.
Lachlan had the right pace and goo character building. I enjoyed the characters of Lachlan and Julia together.

The first night as a Vampire, Lachlan awakens to his clan being slaughtered. Along with those left alive he swears revenge against the man reponsible, Erskine Ross, no matter how long it may take to build up resources and warriors.

Julia needs help in her search for a man who ruthlessly killed her friend, because the friend found evidence of money mishandling. Her friend left all his proof for Julia and Julia needs help to finally find the man, Erskine Ross.

Julia and Lachlan meet, very untrusting of one another. They both leave out important facts and Lachlan is not happy with Julia wanting to be an integral part of the search and revenge. The first step will be to meet with probably the most powerful Vampire Lord, Raphael whose mate is Cyn, and she and Julia were friends through school. The meeting is basically out of respect, to let Raphael know his/their intentions and hopefully gain an ally.

As Lachlan and Julia start their search, danger becomes a constantof their lives as does the attraction between them. Will Julia get revenge for the death of her friend? Will Lachlan get his revenge against all his slain clansmen?

Loved this story!! I have read several of this series, but not all :(, and love the power and the passion of the characters! There is an "intensiveness" about the Vampire characters that grabs onto you and one side of you feels fear of what could potentially happen to the character but yet you can't help but respect the passion of their feelings. Does that sound strange?

Loved Lachlan and Julia together! If you are a Vampire fan, this series is a must! I look forward to more...

I received this book via NetGalley and have agreed to leave and honest review.

I really enjoyed this one. The chemistry between Lachlan and Julie was instantly steamy and captivating. From the beginning they were a strong couple that you knew would kick some ass. They remind me of Raphael and Cyn's relationship.

Julie was a beautiful and kick ass character who I envy. She never got overwhelmed by what was happening. She just did what she needed and keep on fighting.

I can't wait to read the next one.

Lachlan: Vampires in Europe the Vampires in America #13 book was a day well spent reading for me.
Lachlan McRae has spent 150 years planning his revenge for the night that he woke as a vampire to the slaughter of his entire clan save for a very few. He is now ready to take on Erskine Ross, the Vampire Lord of Scotland.

Julia Harper is a CIA analyst who comes from wealth and is a childhood friend of Cyn’s. When another childhood friend of Julia’s is murdered she takes leave from her job to investigate his murder and exact revenge.

It's not until much later that things get even more complicated.
“Who’s that?” she asked, pointing at an image two layers down. “Um.”He moved things around until the picture she wanted was fully displayed. “Oh. I just threw that in there, so I’d have it later. It’s Erskine accepting some bullshit—” “Erskine?” she whispered, one hand reaching back to grip Lachlan’s thigh, as if to reassure herself that he was there, that this wasn’t some awful nightmare. “He’s supposed to be dead,”she added, her voice sounding eerie even to her own ears. Lachlan’s arms came around her from behind, his voice in her ear. “What’s going on? Who’s supposed to be dead?” “That man. He can’t be Erskine Ross, because that man’s dead.”

LACHLAN TURNED her in his arms, waiting until she looked up at him to say, “I thought you’d never seen Erskine before.” “I haven’t. But that’s not Erskine.

The relationship between Lachlan and Julia is nicely done with them slowly coming to know each other while building trust and breaking down the suspicion and doubt that they each have.
Things seem to be falling into place for Lachlan except....it seems someone is out to kill Julia, his Princess.
...they’d barely known each other a week. Okay, sure, a lot had happened in that week. They’d fought off a kidnapping—two, if you counted this last attack. They’d killed a few vampires together. Oh, yeah, and they’d had hot, hot sex. What was the line from her favorite movie? They’d “lived a lifetime’s worth," in the few days they had together.

I wish I could give more then 5stars!!!! One of the best vamp romances I've read!!! And you all know me,I read a lot of them. Lachlan was swoon worthy from how he looked to his dirty talking, which is one of my fave things and he's a total predator with a dark and dangerous vibe.Julia is a strong and in control woman, but she had no chance once lachlan decided she would be his. The storyline was fabulous with great secondary characters and bad vamps as well. This is a very steamy read with toe curling love making that had my heart pumping! I couldn't swipe the pages on my kindle fast enough!Highlanders know how to go low and more!! I've put this series on my tbr gr list!! Raphael and cyn were very interesting and I need to know their story too. D.B. Reynolds I hope your ready, because your my new obsession! Until next time luv's💖💋

This was a pretty good story. I really liked both Julia and Lachlan. Characters like Julia’s can tend to be too emotionless, but I thought the author did a good job with her character. The only thing was that I hadn’t realized it was book 13 in a series. It didn’t make a difference with the story, but I like to start at the beginning of a series because of cross-referencing and characters popping up in other books. I recommend.

Erskine Ross is a pain in everyone's ass. It's time for him to die. Julia a CIA desk agent wants him dead as does Lachlan McRae, Scottish vampire who should be the rightful vampire lord. The two are in for the fight of their lives. Julia is fighting against her developing feelings for Lachlan while he is going full speed ahead. A stand alone within the Vampires of America series.

Lachlan: Vampires in Europe (Vampires in America Book 13) by D.B. Reynolds
This is a story where humans know vampires live among them. Lachlan McRae is a powerful vampire with a score to settle with the cowardly Erskine Lord of Scotland who killed the McRae clan as they helplessly slept. All but Lachlan and two others of the clan survived because they were new vampires locked away in a separate room for their first night.
Julia Harper is beautiful, smart, and a CIA analysis but, after her best friend is murdered by vampires, she’s on the hunt to find out why and by who.
Julia is contacted and meets up with an old schoolmate where she then introduced to her friend’s sexy and gorgeous vampire cousin Lachlan. Both Julia and Lachlan have something the other needs in their own plan of retribution for Erskine the Lord of Scotland. Their undeniable attraction towards each other is an added bonus until someone is trying to kill Julia.
This cleverly plotted storyline is exciting, sassy, and witty, with great attention to detail and character development. It’s fast pace in a rough and tough world where the strong and powerful rule and survive.
The writing gave the story an effortless life and flow that held my attention with it’s danger, intrigue, and a scorching red hot romance that caught the pages on fire! The romance is steamy and raw matching the characters well. I gave this book 4.5 Stars only because in my opinion the full on sex scenes were great but became excessive in number. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and definitely not the last.
Happy Reading♥️

Content Note: Adult Rated, Strong Language. Strong explicit sex scene descriptions and words.
5 out of 5 flames! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

LACHLAN is the first instalment in D.B. Reynolds’ contemporary, adult VAMPIRES IN EUROPE erotic, paranormal romance series, and the thirteenth instalment in the author’s Vampires in America series. This is vampire and clan leader Lachlan McRae, and CIA analyst Julia Harper’s story line. LACHLAN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the original series is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Lachlan and Julia) LACHLAN follows a centuries old vendetta wherein Lachlan McRae seeks vengeance for the murder of his clan, a vengeance that will place him in control of Scotland’s vampires but Lachlan isn’t the only person seeking revenge against Erskine Ross. Enter CIA analyst Julia Harper, and the woman with whom Lachlan will fall in love.

Months earlier Julia’s best friend Masoud was killed by a group of vampires, and Julia was desperate to avenge his death but our heroine will find herself face to face with Lachlan McRae, a powerful vampire who is determined to take down Erskine, on his own. A necessary meeting with Raphael, the most powerful vampire in the world, forces Lachlan to work with Julia, in an effort to get to close to the American vampire leader. A confident and intelligent young woman, Julia is willing to work with Lachlan to take down a mutual foe.

What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Lachlan and Julia, and the potential fall out as Julia is targeted by the man, she is hoping to destroy.

Julia Harper is best friend’s with Cynthia Leighton, the mate to the world’s most powerful vampire, and Lachlan knows to get a meeting with Raphael he will need help in setting up the deal. Lachlan had no idea that his attraction to Julia would be visceral and immediate, an attraction that will place Julia in the direct line of fire.

The relationship between Julia and Lachlan begins as a business arrangement in that Lachlan requires Julia’s help. Julia is desperate to locate Erskine Ross, and finds herself ‘partnered’ with Lachlan in their search for the truth. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Lachlan’s cousins and fellow vampires Fergus and Munro; Erskine Ross; as well as the return of Raphael and Cyn (Raphael #1).

LACHLAN is a story of betrayal and vengeance; family and friendships; power and love. The fast paced premise is engaging and exciting; the romance is passionate and seductive; the characters are powerful and strong. This is my first book by D.B. Reynolds, but it won’t be my last.
