The Cornish Village School - Summer Love

I fell in lovely with the lovely cover and then I fell in love with this book.
It's heartwarming, well written and entertaining. The characters are likable and fleshed out, the setting is lovely.
I look forward to reading other books by this author.

the latest book in the series - but I dpn't think it matters if you haven't read the others.

Pippa is a teaching assistant and Kam has just got a teaching job in the village school. Told from both of their points of view, they both think they know what they want from life, until they meet each other. But they are working together so can it lead to love?

Pippa and Kam, well, let's all admit that we know these two will eventually get together and that's just why this is a good read. As with the last book in the series, I admit that this one hits my sweet spots, starting with the Cornwall setting. Don't worry if you didn't read the earlier ones- while characters from those will pop up, the story here is a perfect standalone. The village is delightful, the students well pitched, and the story is delightful. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A good relaxing read.

Cornwall is NOT sunny and dry... and warm.. it may have fewer frosts than the rest of the island, and the overall temperature in the winter is higher but..

Now compare this to London:

Quite a bit warmer and drier. So this story is rather a mythical Cornwall, but then I’ve found that this tends to be the norm when people write about this county - in my own experience, it has rained a lot... and I do mean a lot! Those 8 days per month have always been when I’ve visited.. it really is one of the wettest parts of the island.
And please, if you will write about a school, spell correctly - a stationery cupboard holds envelopes; a stationary item will be a car... E for envelopes, A for car. Easy to remember.
What else to say about this book. Well I liked the way Pippa dresses. I love vintage jewellery myself and frequent vintage fairs for some of my clothes - though unfortunately, they tend to be rather smaller than I am now and thus I can’t buy much. I like her attitude and behaviour but her constant signing off key might be rather irritating. I like that her fellow teacher is male and Hindu (Indian?), as we don’t have enough male primary school teachers. They do tend to get promoted very fast too...
So a fun book to read, even if it is a very mythical place they are working and living!

Heartwarming, adorable, cute, lovely, so sweet. Can you tell I adored this book ! It’s such a well written lovely book, brings a smile to your face. I hadn’t read the others but I didn’t feel I was missing out on anything at all. Fabulous read with lovely relatable characters. Thoroughly recommended as a happy read.

Summer Love is the third book in the The Cornish Village School series. I have been eagerly waiting for this book all year!! I was glad that the author included Head Rosy Winter and games teacher Sylvie and of course Marion Marksharp from her previous stories.

Pippa Parkin was the Teaching Assistant at Penmenna Primary School. Pippa was happily single but her mum Jan was desperate for her to meet Mr Right. When James, Pippa`s childhood friend returned to Penmenna, Jan tried to match make and even shopped for a wedding hat. However James had changed since childhood and Pippa thought he was arrogant.

Pippa was happily single until newly qualified teacher Kam Choudhary came to Penmenna to cover maternity leave. Pippa and Kam instantly bonded, Kam was smitten, but he had a five year plan to get a full time teaching post and didn't want a girlfriend. After a one night stand Kam sent Pippa a letter declaring his love, but unfortunately Pippa did not receive it. Kam felt rejected and promised himself not to mention the letter to Pippa. Pippa meanwhile didn't understand why their tentative romance had ended so abruptly.

I liked Pippa and Kam, but I adored their overbearing mother's. I loved Geeta Choudhary and enjoyed the story of when she sat behind Kam on his first date. The best part of this book are it`s quirky characters and I liked Flynn the dog who visited his dead owners pub every night for a bowl of water and pork scratchings.

I highly recommend this fun ,light hearted book.

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series and couldn't wait for the third book to come out. The cover was so attractive and I wasn't let down as the book was amazing and simply so well written I didn't want it to end. Was hooked from the first page and so great to be back in the Cornish village. It's heartwarming and funny and full of romance and families and work life and social life balance and being happy with the right person. Loved it so much I can't wait for another book hopefully to come out in the series.
Pippa is a classroom assistant at the village school but is busy organising the Easter egg hunt her mum is desperate for her to find me perfect but she says she's not interested. In Fact her mum is desperate for her to go out with a local boy who she went to school with and grew up with but she's trying to make it clear to her mum that she doesn't like him and it won't happen. She's working and meets the new teacher who is covering a teacher on maternity leave and it's a make called Kam and when she sees him she has an attraction straight away. She starts going out in the evenings and when she gets totally drunk one night he takes her back to his but won't take advantage but what will happen when she wakes up and is sober will things change. He writes her a letter writing his true feelings for her and says if she feels the same to let him know and they can see if a they can separate work and social life and get to know each other. Sadly Pippa doesn't get the letter and can't work out why he's gone cool on her and has stopped texting her she thinks she's lost him. One day near the end of term as he's due to leave she gets given the letter and can now understand why he went cool virus it to late for her to make amends with him and for them to be a couple or not and will he be able to settle in the village and get a full time job or is it just to late and he thinks it is best to move on. Will both their parents be happy for their children or will they be left disappointed.
A perfect read simply brilliant and worth far more than five stars highly recommend it to anyone.

This is the third book I've read in this series and I've enjoyed each of them. Although it is book 3 in the series, you do not need to have read the first 2 as it works very well as a standalone book

It is an easy going, warm hearted story that makes you smile throughout. Having worked in Cornish schools for years, I know people just like the characters in the book, they are so realistically written, but even with their quirks, they are likeable.

The ideal book when you fancy something light-hearted and uplifting to read.

The first thing I will say about this book is that it is the third in a series - I haven’t read the other two and you don’t need to. From what I understand a few of the characters and settings are the same but this book is fine to read on its own without the prior knowledge of storylines or characters.

The book is set in a small Cornish village and the main character is Pippa Parkin, a teaching assistant, full of life, bubbly and who brings a smile to the room whenever she enters but who’s love life is not so flamboyant! Her mother is desperately trying to get her together with childhood and family friend James, who is polite and courteous when he needs to be but Pippa sees straight through him and decides he’s not the man for her!

When her class teacher leaves on maternity at Easter, her temporary cover teacher, Kam, (male, good looking- we know where this is going) joins the small village school and Pippa is instantly smitten, but knows that their relationship can onlybe professional. She introduces him to village life (the local pub) and he quickly realises that Cornish life is what he wants (and Pippa).

The story follows the development of their relationship, the fun they have at school, looking for the escaped class hamster, the May fayre, and the half term night out where their feelings for each other are finally shown. But they remain professional in their work. Kam decides to write Pippa a letter explaining how he feels but it gets mislaid and feeling that she has blanked him or doesn’t feel the same way, their relationship starts to fade.

After weeks of not talking and each other giving the other one the cold shoulder, Pippa realises the error and sets things straight in a way only Pippa can!

A great, funny, happy ending, which you expect from the outcome, but it is so well written I was giggling out loud imagining the scene.

If you want an easy summer read, this is the perfect book for lounging by the pool or in your garden. It doesn’t require much thinking, it’s a great little plot and the characters are easy to relate to.

I really enjoyed it, I liked the fact that it's based in Cornwall and as an ex teacher in North Cornwall I could relate to the settings and places well, I could picture it where I worked! I read it over three evenings and would give it four stars.
(The only negatives were a few grammatical errors - which the teacher in me finds hard to ignore!)

What a wonderful novel, a Cornish village setting will take you into the feeling of reality and you will be at one with everyone in the story. There's children, staff, family, sadness, happiness love and heartbreak all in the daily lives within this village. I would recommend this novel as you will really enjoy the storyline and wish it not to end. This is part of a four book series and I am sure you will enjoy them all. I loved it and I am sure you will to.
