Since I'm interested in creating my own business, I requested this book. It was a really useful reminder of what to watch out and a few nice ideas I got.
If you're at the same stage, I'd recommend.
Thanks a lot for the copy!
“We have never seen so perfect a storm of change, so perfect a landscape in which to plant a new business.”
This book could not be more timely. In a world of political and economic uncertainty, traditional job security is threatened at every level.
There truly is a start-up revolution and is happening worldwide, especially with women, millennials, disadvantaged and marginalised entrepreneurs who have the attitude, mindset, drive and social skills to engage with an audience who can benefit from what they have to offer.
The authors have curated an excellent collection of case studies and examples of start-up companies to demonstrate the key three aspects of any business:
• Partnership and People skills.
• Total customer focus. The current argument is to find products for your customers, not customers for your products. This demands a deep understanding of who your customers are and what they are looking for.
• Professionalism. Excellence in execution is the key. “There is no place for mediocrity in the 2020s.” This is one reason why Pivoting from one business element or idea to another is a great way to transform any business in response to a challenge.
Pop-up businesses are an ideal way to experiment and test innovative and unique ideas with a niche audience and are inexpensive to get started.
No matter how small your business, the authors make it clear that you still need to plan how you will generate growth and profit in the business, how often you will review your results, and then execute on that plan. This will drive your momentum and energy so that you can take advantage of opportunities and persist when challenged.
This book is an excellent primer for anyone considering starting a new business and a brilliant reminder to those of us who already have done so. Recommended.
