This is a quality entry into a quality series for the under-nine girls out there. It's so good it almost negates the need to read the first book in the series, which I did enjoy but almost acts as a trailer for the high drama we get here. Our heroine has managed to produce a living slime pet, with the help of regular slime and some space dust that her gran presented her with. But we start with the problem that overnight someone has made the gran disappear – and they want the space dust back… We get a much more succinct recap of how Cosmo the Slime Pet was created than we ever saw in Book One – which to repeat I didn't regret reading at the time – and then crack on with a pell-mell adventure, finding out more and more about Cosmo and so much more at the same time. This is top-notch stuff, giving relatively relatable sci-fi adventures for such a young, predominantly female audience. Kudos to all involved, and roll on the sequel! Four and a half stars.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This is a fantastic modern read for today's generation of under 9s. All kids today love slime so the use of a pet slime character in this book is fantastic!
I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens next in this new slimetastic series!

This is the second entry in the series about Cosmo.  These books are for readers who are starting to enjoy chapter books.  The first book ended with the cliffhanger of a missing grandmother.  This book picks up where that one left off.

The premise of the series is that our allergic protagonist has created her own pet from Slime with the help of a little moon dust.  Cosmo only comes to life for her and her good friend.  Cosmo is an important part of  their adventures.

What did happen to Grandma Sadie?  What will Piper and Cosmo do to find her? Will they succeed?

Along with the story line, the author includes some facts as, for example, information about the constellations or Keith Haring. These brief sections are not heavy handed but may encourage readers to learn more.

This is a fun book  with some bright, colorful illustrations that enhance the text.  I think that young readers will enjoy it. As a bonus there is a slime recipe at the end.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.
