Description

Jane Darrowfield is a year into her retirement, and she’s already traveled and planted a garden. She’s organized her photos, her recipes, and her spices.  The statistics suggest she has at least a few more decades ahead of her, so she better find something to do . . .

JANE DARROWFIELD, PROFESSIONAL BUSYBODY

After Jane helps a friend with a sticky personal problem, word starts to spread around her bridge club—and then around all of West Cambridge, Massachusetts—that she’s the go-to girl for situations that need discreet fixing. Soon she has her first paid assignment—the director of a 55-and-over condo community needs her to de-escalate hostilities among the residents. As Jane discovers after moving in for her undercover assignment, the mature set can be as immature as any high schoolers, and war is breaking out between cliques.

It seems she might make some progress—until one of the aging “popular kids” is bludgeoned to death with a golf club. And though the automatic sprinklers have washed away much of the evidence, Jane’s on course to find out whodunit . . .

Loved this book! Immediately grabbed my attention. I enjoyed the characters, the setting and the mystery was interesting. I didn't figure out who the murderer was, which is always nice. We have an older sleuth for this series.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review. - I hope for many more in this series.

I loved everything about this book. A first in a new series by Barbara Ross, Jane Darrowfield, Professional Busybody is like a breath of fresh air.
Jane is retired, but loves helping people, so when certain people need to have “things done “, Jane is just a call away.
The director of an active senior living community seeks Jane out for some delicate services regarding residents and social cliques.
The inquiries go awry when a murder takes place, and Jane finds herself in the middle of a bizarre investigation.
I loved everything about this book. Jane is a great character, she’s sassy and sweet and doesn’t let her age stop her.
I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.

I love senior sleuths! Jane Darrowfield, author Barbara Ross' answer to the beloved Miss Marple, is asked to go undercover at a retirement complex to discover who's causing problems, but when a resident is found dead on the golf course she may be in for more than she bargained for! I loved it, and can't wait for more in this fun new series!

Jane Darrowfield, Professional Busybody by Barbara Ross is an excellent beginning to a new cozy mystery series. I loved Jane and thought she was a hoot.

The dialogue was witty, sassy, and sharp. The concept and the murder/mystery plot were creative and kept me engaged. I loved the full cast of characters. There is plenty of material here for future books.

Ms. Ross has the beginnings of another successful series. I love it.

Jane Darrowfield is my new favorite amateur sleuth. I cannot wait to see her further adventures. It's so incredibly refreshing to see a protagonist who is older, happy in her life, and smart as a whip.

Love this new cozy mystery! Found myself wishing I could trade lives with Jane Darrowfield, the main character! She is a recently retired executive who finds herself with lots of time on her hands. She's become known among her group of old friends and associates as something of a "fixer," in that she can help people solve problems and navigate sticky situations. She's never dreamed of charging for her services, but when she is offered a paid assignment by the manager of a local senior living community, she takes the jump. Of course, there's a murder on her first day! Which she solves with charm, humor, and grace. I will be recommending this to cozy mystery readers who enjoy Leslie Meier, Jenn McKinlay, Marty Wingate and Judith Flanders.

I received this ebook in exchange for an honest review, and boy am I glad that I did!

I started and finished it in the same day. I did not want to put it down. Jane is a strong character that wasn’t afraid to be a ‘busybody’. The characters were well developed and believable. The representation in this book was very well rounded.

The world building was very well done, I felt like I could find my way around as if I lived there. I will be reading more books from this author!

A well written cozy with excellent characters and a plot that's pretty good for this genre. Definitely a good start for what can become an interesting series.

Jane is retired and a little bored. She also likes to help. She gets a reputation for 'fixing' things and her friends recommend her to others.
She gets a position in a retirement home to solve a problem with the residents, right before a murder and snoops around to find information from the residents. Her ally is a policeman from her home town, with secrtets of his own, and eventually, bit by bit she does find the answers, almost too late for the most important one. Who the killer was ..
This was an interesting peek into the way a retirement community could go awry with colorful characters, intrigue and humor.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC to peruse and offer my opinion freely.
