I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This picture book is about how all families look different.
My Family, Your Family is a perfectly sweet exploration of all different types of families. With diverse skin colors and family structures, Cole and Li show just how many ways there are to share family. The illustrations are beautiful and the simple text makes this easy to share with little ones.
This simple story shows a variety of families. There are very few words on the pages, but readers will likely see their families reflected on the pages. A good option for preschool age readers.
Simple and cute with fantastic illustrations showing the amazing diversity of families. I especially loved the illustration of the siblings fighting!
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
This is a fantastic book showing children that no matter what their family set up is, all families are still a family - no matter the size, culture, parentage, distance or ages in the family.
This is a fantastic book to help children understand that although other families may be very different to their they are still a family and still love and care for each other.
I loved the simplicity of this book!
There was a variety of family's shown and this would fit perfect with a school's units on families and different types of families. I enjoy that there isn't a lot of language, as it will provides room for students to think about the pictures - not just the text. This also means it's accessible for low-readers and ELL students with limited language skills.
I'd love to use this as a project where students show what is a like and different in each of the pictures that are next to each other. I'm excited to purchase this book for my classroom.
This is a cute book about some of the many different ways families are. Good variety. Sweet illustrations. Nice, simple language.
My family, you family! is a board book celebrating families. It emphasize all kinds of families and shows kids that no two families are a like. The story is well written, and the illustrations really reiterate the diversity in family dynamics.
This board book is endearingly illustrated. Through its use of s simple text and pictures, many kinds of families are shown. All are given equal weight. This is a matter of fact, inclusive title for little ones. I recommend it.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love picture books about different kinds of families. We are long past the days of the "traditional" family and I love books that show that. As a bookseller, I love when I can show kids "themselves" in books. You can see them light up when they see someone like them. This book is going to be great for daycares and elementary schools. Fun illustrations with a simple wonderful message.
This is a wonderful little picture book about all the different shapes and sizes a family can be! The pictures are very nice, and I loved the examples used. Before reading this I was worried this would be VERY stereotypical, but it was not like that AT ALL! I loved the uses of pronouns, and this could be perfect to use in the classroom when learning about them, both in English countries or those that have English as their second language!
My only complaint is that I wish it was longer, but that also explains how well I liked it! Would really recommend it!
This short and sweet book takes readers through a variety of family units in today's modern society! Amazing illustrations, this book paints a very realistic picture of different types of families in the world. I loved reading it, I think the message is great and extremely necessary. It is perfect for young children and can start many important conversations. I would definitely use this in my classroom as a read-aloud or as a project. Great resource!
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. This is the perfect book for all children to read! It is short, sweet and simple as all children's books should be. Most importantly, it teaches them a lesson. The lesson in this one was about all types of families. I will definitely be buying this for everyone with children.
