Some really nice recipes and modern twists on old dishes, the recipes are cooked in a pressure cooker was hoping for more in the slow cooker but nothing to stop you using the ingredients and cooking them more slowly.
on the whole nice book and quite informative.
I wouldn't have bothered with the book if I had realised that an "Instant pot" was a pressure cooker but after reading the recipes I may want to buy an Instant Pot!!!!

Beautiful illustrations, the recipes are nicely organized and easy to follow. Did I mention the pictures are mouth watering and will make you hungry?
During this pandemic, I have been cooking more at home. My family and I love fine sinning so this has been an adjustment for us. We went from dinning out an average of twice a week to none at all, for safety measures.
I love how warm and inviting this cookbook is.i will be purchasing a physical copy as I have followed a few of the recipes and my family has really enjoyed them.
I highly recommend this book!
This would be a great gift for the wife of a huge wild game hunter. From wild boar to venison to squirrel.... all types of recipes with some really beautiful pictures that look amazing. The author also gives a substitute meat for most of the recipes in case you want to try different variations.
What did I like? The pictures were beautiful...I’m a sucker for a good looking food picture. The recipes were easy to follow and relatively simple since your using an instant pot. I really liked how outside the box this recipe book is. Wild game is available to buy through certain online websites (I don’t hunt wild game personally but I grew up on it and love to eat it) so occasionally I buy it, so it’s great to see an actual recipe book where you can up your game to some amazing looking dishes.
Would I recommend or buy? Your going to have to really love and want to eat wild game. Only eighty something pages but packed with some really beautiful recipes. I think this would make a wonderful gift for the game hunters wife, and people that enjoy outside the box recipes like myself.
I received a copy to read and offer an opinion, beautiful book.
This is really interesting with recipes covering a wide variety of meats. Lots of different ideas, and a great way to get a little more creative in the kitchen instead of the same old meats that we return to time and time again. Easy to follow and with photos that give a good indication of what you can expect it to look like. Everything from dinner parties to side dishes are covered!
C'est jolie, c'est beau et ça donne envie.
Un de ces livres de cuisines que j'aime car bien expliqué.
The Wild Game Instant Pot is a tutorial and recipe collection for wild game by Beverly Hudson. Due out 25th Aug 2020 from Quarto on their Voyageur imprint, it's 160 pages and will be available in hardcover format.
This is an interesting and varied collection of recipes, well curated and written, combining the labor saving and control of the Instant Pot with dishes featuring game (with alternate proteins listed for each recipe if game isn't on the menu). The format is easy to follow and the layout is logical and progresses from a basic tutorial for using the instant pot to safety and some food handling tips.
The recipes are arranged thematically: Sandwiches, Soups & Chili, Big game main dishes, Small game mains, Gamebird mains, sides, and party recipes. The recipes have their ingredients listed bullet style in a sidebar. Measurements are given in US standard with metric/SI units in parentheses (yay!). Special tools and ingredients are also listed, along with yields and cooking directions. Most of the ingredients are easily sourced at any moderately well stocked grocery store (apart from the meats, and those have alternatives listed). The appendices include a pantry list of staples, high altitude adjustments, adapting stovetop and slow cooker recipes for the Instant Pot, as well as a cross referenced index. There is no included nutritional information supplied in the recipes.
Almost all of the recipes are beautifully photographed. These are appealing "everyday special" recipes which are tasty and family-friendly (no kale smoothies between the covers of this one). This would make a really good selection for the smallholder, hunter, self-sufficiency folks, or anyone who wants to try some exotic but family friendly dishes.
Five stars.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
This will be a wonderful addition to the cooking books we already have in our library. Easy to follow and interesting recipes.
*received for free from netgalley for honest review* Really great book! I want to buy this for my husband, also love how it gives you tips on how to make the recipes without a instant pot!
Apart from duck, Wild Game is not something I eat very often and I know my husband said wild boar is delicious so when I go the opportunity to review this I knew I had to have a look, even though I don't have an Electric Instant Pot - generally known as a Pressure Cooker in the UK. Back in the 70s my mum had one that she used on the stove, though for the life of me I can't remember what she made in it.
The book is divided into seven chapters (no of recipes) and an introduction:
- Sandwiches and such (6)
- Soups and Chili (15)
- Big Game Main Dishes (18)
- Small Game Main Dishes (7)
- Gamebird Main Dishes (14)
- On the Side (6)
- Party Time (6)
The Introduction chapter provides details on how to start off using the Electric Instant Pot. It provides details on the type of game and how long it takes to cook along with the type of release it requires.
The recipes in the different chapters have easy to follow directions, and come with both imperial and metric measurements. Not all the recipes have a colour photograph to accompany the dishes. Also included are tips on things such as how to peal a tomato, how to make fresh breadcrumbs and flaming liquor or variations on the game used. To make these recipe will require a trip to the butchers as the game required, such as venison, rabbit, pheasant, is generally not available in the UK supermarkets.
I'd certainly consider getting an Instant Pot after reading this book as the dishes do look delicious and its much quicker than cooking it the conventional way in the oven - some dishes are done in 20 minutes some take 90 minutes and probably less washing up too!
I received this book from Netgalley in return for a honest review.
