Description
Phee's mother Harriet is going to be a star! At least, that's how the Sun City West retiree describes her chance to host a live radio program of her book club's Booked 4 Murder Mystery Hour on Arizona's KSCW. But instead of chatting about charming cozies, Harriet ends up screaming bloody murder over the airwaves after discovering the body of Howard Buell, the station's programming director, in a closet--with a pair of sewing shears shoved into his chest.
The number one suspect is Howard's ex-girlfriend Sylvia Strattlemeyer who believed she was going to host a sewing talk show before Harriet was offered the spot. But not only do the fingerprints found on the scissors not match Sylvia's, they belong to a woman who passed away twenty years ago at the age of ninety-seven. Now, with the whole town on pins and needles, it's up to Phee to stitch together enough clues from the past to uncover the identity of a killer in the present...

This was another great cozy from Sun City murder book club. Phee is drawn into another case by her mother who is involved in the local radio station. The characters continue to be well evolved and I can imagine these peoiple. Phee's relationship with Marshall continues to develop which is good to see. There is a lot of action and behind the scenes type of things going on in Sun City. Who would guess that retirees have such an exciting life. The story line does not disappoint as we close in on the culprit. It all comes together in a satisfying conclusion that will make you then regret that it is over
I love this series by JC Eaton. The plot is well written with characters that I have grown to love. The twists and turns make you not want to put the book down. I had no idea who the murderer was for the majority of the book.
I cannot wait foe the next installment in the series!
Phee Kimball’s Mother and a friend have been given a weekly slot for a radio show they are calling the Booked 4 Murder Mystery Hour. While Phee isn’t thrilled that they’re going to discuss murders on the air, she’s even less thrilled when the ladies are broadcasting live and find a dead body in the station. When a second body shows up at the station, Harriet pushes Phee hard to solve the case so she can get back to her show without having to look over her shoulder constantly.
As Williams Investigations gets called in, Phee does some digging on her own while her Mother and her friends received death threats. Now Phee and Williams Investigations are working hard to solve the case before Harriet and her friends left with dead air for good.
This is a fun series and I’m in between Phee and Harriet’s ages, so I can relate to both of them a bit. The husband wife author team always have a solid whodunit and leave me wanting more. I also enjoy their Wine Trail Mystery series too. You can’t go wrong with any of the books from this husband and wife team!
Get ready to have a fun time when Sophie (Phee) and Williams Investigations tackles a case involving two murders, a radio book club, determined senior sleuths and suspect who died 20 years ago at the age of 97!
Phee's mother Harriet, and her fellow book club member Myrna, are selected as the hosts of a Sun City West radio program called Booked 4 Murder Mystery Hour. .When the station manager is murdered and Harriet and Myrna find the body, Phee is recruited to solve the murder and the adventure begins!
I loved everything about the book - the mystery, humor, the lovable characters and of course, Streetman! The story is fast-paced with red herrings everywhere! I enjoy that Phee has become more confident as an investigator and her relationship with Marshall enhances the story. I also enjoy the characters of Augusta and Nate. One of my favorite parts of the book, was when Harriet and Myrna confront a rival for their program time slot - the Lake Fishing with Paul host! It was classic Harriet!
In the series, age is just a number and the Sun City West residents prove that over and over again! The supporting characters are just as important as the main characters and that makes for a wonderfully written mystery with humor, heart and of course the grumpy but lovable Streetman!
I received an ARC from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
This is the 7th installment in the Sophie Kimball Mystery Series. Phee’s (Sophie) life would be a little less stressful and perhaps not as full without her Mother Harriet and her friends at the senior living community. Harriet and her friend are taking on a live radio program of their bookclub called Booked 4 Mystery hour. What could go wrong. Well if Harriet is involved you know plenty. Well for starters Harriet finds the dead body of the program director live on air and screams her head off. Harriet drags Phee in to investigate and then the fun begins. I really love the relationship between Phee and Harriet. The senior community really give her a run for their money and keep this series entertaining. The mystery is solid with lots of unique twists (scissors with a dead person’s prints…) and keeps you engaged. This is a very enjoyable read that will not disappoint.
This is the 7th book in the series. Sophie's mother becomes a radio host but soon discovers a dead body live on air. Can Sophie find the killer before it's too late.
I enjoy checking in with these characters, although it does take me a bit to like get back in sync with them. This is more focused on Phee (with of course her mother), and the folks at the investigation business. Not much interaction with the book club ladies doing crazy things. The murders kept me guessing.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.
